LOGINAmanda’s POV
“Oh!” Logan howled, holding his ankle as he sat on the floor, his face contorted with pain. How bad were the injuries he had? On the outside, he looked fine and properly healed but it seemed like his rehabilitation was a long way. Kirk rushed in. “What happened? What is the problem?” I blinked at his unexpected presence. Hadn't he said that he was going to be in the living room? I thought he would be watching the television or doing something else to keep himself busy. He seemed to have stayed there but stuck his ears to the floor of the workout room. What a good manager he was. I almost forgave him for tricking me into signing the contract. If I was being honest with myself though, he hadn't exactly tricked me. He hadn't given me details and I hadn't bothered to ask, too excited to coach Logan to chase after my senses which had flown out of the window the moment I saw Kirk at my door. He glanced at me when Logan ignored him, preferring to languish in pain rather than talk. “I rushed in as soon as I heard the crash.” “He slid off the treadmill.” I explained. He frowned. “Didn't he hold the handles?” “He wanted to show me that my instructions were that of a quack.” “Damn it, Logan.” Kirk cursed. “Why are you…” The words trailed off. Logan turned to him, scowling. “What? Annoying? Daring? Impossible?” Kirk shook his head. “Let's get you to the hospital.” He turned to me. “You can leave early today, Miss Bruce.” “I'm going with you.” “No.” Kirk said firmly. “I need his medical reports. I need to know what I'm dealing with here. I don't want to unintentionally kill him.” I insisted. Kirk blushed, realizing his mistake. “I will get that for you.” “How about I save you the trouble and do that? I can also get to talk to his doctor. A little team work won't affect anyone.” Kirk sighed. “Fine. You make a good negotiator.” I smiled. “I do my best whenever I can.” Logan groaned. “Oh, stop the flirting and let's move. I'm dying here.” He snapped. “You aren't dying if your mouth is still as sharp as ever.” I snorted. Logan glared at me, preparing for a comeback. Kirk stopped him before he could cause any verbal damage. “Stop with the drama, Logan.” Kirk warned, groaning as he lifted Logan to his feet. I moved forward without thinking. “Let me help you.” “Don't touch me.” Logan hissed. I blushed, embarrassed beyond normal, but walked behind them, careful to keep a distance from the hot bully. My eyes darted to his derriere, noting how firm and attractive it was. I blushed at the indecent direction my eyes had chosen to go and looked away, hoping that I wasn't blushing too hard to be noticed. Finally, Kirk and Logan made it to the car. “Should I drive?” I offered, needing to distract my mind with an activity. “And have you kill us.” Logan snorted. “I am a good driver.” I defended myself weakly, hating how rattled he made me. “Just as you said you were a good coach.” “I am a good coach.” I fired at him. He raised his leg up. “This says otherwise.” “It's not my fault that you have a weak body and an unnecessary ego that can't heal it.” I snapped. My eyes widened the moment the words were out, knowing that I had crossed the boundary I hadn't meant to cross. What was it with him that he always pushed me over the edge? “Let's not argue, guys.” Kirk said, moving to the driver's seat. I slid into the passenger's seat. No way would I sit beside Logan, not even if my life depended on it. “We aren't arguing, Kirk. Don't be dramatic. We are only exchanging feelings and words.” I shook my head as I strapped on the seat belt. Logan was nuts. And I was doomed by being trapped with him. I considered opting out of the contract and calculated how fast it would take me to pay back the debt I would definitely have if I did that. I groaned as I looked at months of paying back debts and knew that leaving wasn't an option. It was either I get Logan back to shape despite the challenges or I jump into a lagoon. “He needs to come to the hospital once a week.” The doctor informed me as he handed me Logan's medical reports. I gasped as I saw his charts. His injuries had been more than what was said on the news. His healing though fast still required him to take it easy if he didn't want to risk tearing his bones apart. Three months. The words flashed in my mind, taunting me in Logan's voice. Dr. Michaelis, Logan's doctor, was a warm person who had taken to me instantly the moment I was introduced as his personal coach. He told me about the therapist the hospital recommended for Logan but he had thrown a tantrum about how he was too special to train with other patients. I understood why Kirk had been desperate to find him a new coach and one who could keep secrets. Telling the world of the truth being Logan's injuries was going to cause an uproar. Dr. Michaelis’ eyes flashed with pity as he spoke with me but it was gone too quickly that I wondered if that had been my imagination. “What time should we bring him back for evaluation?” He shrugged. “We only need to check how his bones and muscles are healing, the effect of the exercises on his body, and some other tests. I suggest bringing him at the end of every week.” I nodded. “Friday or Saturday will be good.” “Saturday makes more sense. The games happen mostly on Fridays and Logan's mood gets sour on that day. You certainly don't want a cranky Logan with you, and neither do I think my team will appreciate that.” He stated in a matter of fact manner with no trace of humor. I nodded, grateful for the information. I didn't think Kirk would have warned me that Fridays were hell days. “I should go check on my other patients.” He said and took his leave. I nodded, rooted to a spot as I ruminated on my life. How tragically interesting. “Are you done, Miss Bruce?” Kirk asked as he approached, snapping me out of my reverie. I turned, smiling politely at him. “Yes. “Let's go home.” He said and headed toward the private entrance we had gotten in through, wheeling Logan out. “Do you have any allergy I should know about, Logan? Are there foods you can't or don't eat?” I asked the moment we were in the car. “Why? You want to kill me?” He responded. I rolled my eyes. “Haha. I had no idea you were a comedian.” He snorted and looked away, staring out of the window. “He isn't picky with food but is allergic to milk.” I would have wanted him not to be allergic at all. “Is there a problem?” Kirk asked. I shook my head. “Not at all. I'm thinking of drawing a meal plan for Logan.” If I was going to get Logan's bones to cooperate with me and save my ass in the next three months, I needed to do more than train them.Amanda's POV “Logan,” I screamed as I watched him tumble to the ground, a loud crash that almost sent my heart to an overdrive.I should have avoided that accident. I could have.I rushed to help him off.“Let go,” he hissed, shrugging my arms off and standing weakly on his own.I sighed and stood still at a side. He was a sore enemy for a girl, anyone even, to have. I had thought that he would warm up to me after two weeks but he was as cold as the ice he loved.“I think you should rest.”“I was going to anyway.” He sighed, moving towards a bench.“Are you fine?” I asked, staring at him.He snorted. “You can see that I'm not.” He shook his head. “I still don't see how everyone thinks you are a competent coach.”I pushed back the sting his words caused. I was used to it by now. He was hurt and projected his anger onto people. I was unlucky to be with him mostly.“We both know that I wasn't asking for your physical condition.”“I'm fine.” He said briskly.Which was what he said when I

Amanda's POV “Logan!” Kirk shouted, his cheeks red in embarrassment on his friend's behalf.“What?” Logan snorted. “The ladies all want me. She can't be anything special.”“I'm sorry, Miss Bruce.” Kirk apologized profusely, shaking his head in shame.I couldn't say a word. I was too… I didn't know how I felt. I knew that Logan didn't mean that offer. He had been taunting me again. I was not his type. The girls he preferred were years younger than I was. He wouldn't sleep with me even if I was crazy enough to want him.“Wow,” I breathed, finally working my tongue.Asshole. It was on the tip of my tongue to call him all sorts of names but I forced the anger down, knowing that boundary was one I was never going to recover from if I crossed it.“I don't want a night out with you. All I want is for you to get better, Logan.” I replied, my tone cool while I boiled inside.Never have I had to endure a negotiation as frustrating as this.“Logan?” He arched his eyebrow, squinting at me.“Didn
Amanda’s POV “I thought you would be older than this.” He hissed as he opened the door, his eyes flicking over my form in distaste. I sucked in a breath, annoyed at how rude he was. I expected that, being a star player that he was, but the last thing I expected was him showing his claws so early. I was here to help his sorry ass after all. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Cade.” I smiled politely, stamping down my irritation. He laughed, throwing his head back. “Mr.? Come on. Don't tease me, please. I'm sure you are ten years older than I am.” I closed my eyes briefly, curling my fist as I thinned my lips in a bid not to reply. I knew that was a cruel joke. I was only three years older than he was and didn't even look my age. Because of my work, I was fit and even still got compliments and catcalls from teenagers. First day at work and I was already regretting the contract I signed. I itched to punch him in the face. I wouldn't dare do that though. Amanda Bruce was professio
