I would love to say Rosefield high school has been the highlight of my life over the past three years but that would be a bigger lie than saying Michael B Jordan is not the most handsome man to have walked the surface of the earth. But, I digress.
Attending school here has been such a slog. The early mornings and late nights. Oh, how I wish I could say I spent them out partying and having the time of my life but it's been all about these assignments and my too many shifts, working at the bar. Don't even get me started with the bullies, the “it girls”, the jocks. Urgh! I can't wait to be done with all of this. In about a year, my bags will be packed and I'll be off to explore the vibrant energy of New York City!
The only thing that makes going to school here bearable is my friend Ash. She rescued me on my first day in school while I was out here looking like a wet, lost puppy. Literally, because someone thought it would be funny to drench me in coffee. Ha ha ha, not funny. I hope you suffer in the hottest part of hell for that one.
Ash has been my only friend for the past three years. While I'm quiet and introverted, she's…ehh… quite the opposite. She's feisty, fierce, opinionated, and drop dead gorgeous. She looks like a Greek goddess and everyday I wonder why she hangs out with me and not the “It” girls. She swears there is a history she isn't ready to relive.
Talking about Ash, here she comes. Her blonde curls bouncing from slide to side as she walked the hallway like a runway, that top clinging to her body like a second skin, her cleavage causing me to question my sexuality for a solid minute. Her walk towards me is interrupted by her boyfriend Clay who grabs her and pulls her into a kiss. Urgh! Please count me out.
I slam my locker shut after gathering my things and head to my calculus class. Just as I turn, I crash into something hard . Funny because I don't remember a wall being here.
My glasses fall to the floor. When I pick them off the floor and look up, I don't see a wall. I see Adonis. True to his name, he must be one of the most handsome men alive. He looks like the Greek gods came together to sculpt a human to show off how good they were at art.
His dark green eyes, his full eyebrows, that thick shrub of brown hair and don't even get me started on those lips. I could lick them all day.
“Then do it” He said with a smirk on his face. Don't tell me I said that out loud!
He tilts my chin gently, pulling me closer. His voice in a sinful whisper beckoned on me: “Go on”.
I freeze like I had just stared straight into Medusa's eyes and his eyes lit up in amusement.
“Chill, you look like you're about to pass out” He teased
Oh shoot!
Heat floods my face. I shove him aside and practically sprinted away. Why do I always have to be so awkward? Why can't I just be...normal? Argh!
Well, I guess this is how I welcome you to the wonderful...scratch that... Chaotic life of Caitlin Graham.
Buckle up. It's going to be a long ride.
CHAPTER 10 rewrite“So… let me get this straight. All of a sudden you want to follow me to a basketball game?” Ash asked, squinting at me like she was checking to visually see what had gone wrong with my head.“Yup,” I replied, pretending to scroll through my phone.“All of a sudden it’s not noisy and a waste of time?” She pressed.“Nope.”“And I’m supposed to believe this isn’t about Adonis?”I shot her a glare. She raised both hands in mock surrender.“Don’t say I didn’t warn you about him,” she sang. “Clay is on the team, remember? He knows a lot about Adonis. He has slept with almost every cheerleader and dumped them by the weekend.”“Can we stop talking about his sex life?” I groaned. “We’re just friends.”“Just friends my ass.” She folded her arms. “I see the way he looks at you. And the way you almost melt like butter when he gets close.”“Ash…”“Look me in the eyes and tell me you two haven’t kissed.”“We haven’t kissed.” I lied with all my thirty two teeth.“You’ve always bee
“Did you have a good time yesterday?” Adonis asked as I got my note and textbooks out of my bag.“Yeah, I did. Thank you.” I replied, distracted.“You have such beautiful eyes” He said, gently lifting my chin so I was looking at him.“Th…they're just eyes” I stuttered.“They're gorgeous. You're gorgeous” He replied. I scoffed. “What? You don't think that you are?” He asked.“I'm just a regular looking girl. Gorgeous is…a strong word.” I answered, fiddling with my pen.“Love, you're so beautiful. Your eyes, the shape of your lips, your hair…such a beautiful color. Everyday I wonder how I didn't notice you all these years.” He replied. “We should begin studying” I said, clearing my throat. He laughed softly and reached over to grab his note, his shirt lifting slightly, just enough for me to catch a glimpse of his chiseled body.“All you have to do is ask. I'll gladly strip for you. Just say the word.” He teased. Shoot! Caught. “Focus” I replied.“You should take your own advice” He s
“Pick up your things. We’re leaving,” Adonis said, appearing beside me so suddenly that I was startled.“Well hello to you too,” I muttered and he rolled his eyes.“I don’t have the time for your sass today.” He said, pulling me along with him towards the exit. “Wait. I still have one class left,” I protested, trying to stop him and failing because he was ridiculously strong.“French with Mr. Jon?” he asked without looking back. “He owes me. He'll cover for us” He paused and turned to me, a wicked grin on his face. “Now, if you don’t quit fighting me, I swear I’ll throw you over my shoulder and carry you out. Comport yourself, sweetheart. I’m trying to show you what life is supposed to feel like”Sweetheart. God.I settled down instantly, mostly because the look in his eyes said he absolutely would follow through. We got into his car, and while he vibed to the loud music, drumming the steering wheel , I sat stiffly, overthinking every possible consequence of skipping class. My hear
We kissed. Lord, help me.I can't believe it but it happened. Adonis and I kissed. And I loved it. I loved every second of it. Every stroke of his tongue over mine. My body remembers him.Urgh! This can't be happening. I can't catch feelings for him. He's Adonis. He's a playboy. He sleeps with girls like it's a sport. What happened between us was probably just fun and games to him. I'm so dumb. What was I thinking? Adonis is a walking sin. I have to get myself back together.Today is our first tutorial session and I have to keep it a thousand percent professional. I'm being paid highly to get this done. I can't fumble it. I stepped into the house and the housekeeper directed me upstairs...to Adonis's room! Oh dear Lord give me strength. It smells so good in here. His room looked so neat. Much better than mine. Maybe he fixed it up because he knew I'd be coming over. I scoffed. Bold assumption that he cares. “Hey Love, you're here early” I heard Adonis say and my jaw nearly dropped.
“Well, someone's in a good mood.” Ash said, making her way into my room.“I absolutely hate him” I screamed into my pillow.“Woah woah woah! Who do we hate? Because I hate him too” Ash asked as she plopping herself up on my bed.“It's Adonis! Adonis!! I hate him!!!” I said and groaned. Oh! He pisses me off so bad.“Oh, him. You know I've never liked him and I was never a fan of your five minute friendship with him. Disgusting. But what did he do?” She asked.Could I bring myself to say it? Could I bring myself to say I had shots with him last night and flirted with him? Could I bring myself to admit I was drooling over his shirtless body over breakfast? Staring at him like a hungry animal. Could I bring myself to say Adonis teased me and could I bring myself to admit I didn't hate him, I just hated the fact that he didn't kiss me after all the tension he built?“Nothing. It's just him being...him.” I lied.“Principal Marcus wants me to be Adonis's calculus tutor” I said.“Ohhhh, that'
The heavenly smell of pancakes filled the air but I knew it was nothing but a dream. A dream that felt so real but still felt too good to be true. Talking about dreams. Shit! I shouldn't be sleeping, it's a school day! I jerked out of my bed and checked the time on my phone. Shit! It's past 7am already. Wait. It's a Saturday? Phew! That means I get to catch a few more hours of sleep. I returned to sleep.“Hey Love” I heard a husky voice say.“Huh?” I replied, still sleepy. Wait. What?!? There's a man in my room. Am I getting robbed? I jumped out of bed in pure survival mode.“Woah, woah, woah! Easy there Jet Li” Adonis said laughing, his hands raised in the air. A mockery of the threat I am to him.“What...how...why are you in my house?” I asked.“Now Love, did you have too much to drink last night?” He asked and I gasped.“Did you sleep with me? You... You dog!!!” I screamed, throwing a pillow at him. He caught it mid air without even thinking or blinking.“What?!?” He asked, obvious
