I've never loved my fiancé. No matter how much I've tried to bring myself to. I feel nothing. Maybe because I'm just a piece given to him for whatever business my father has gotten into again. Or because I caught him kissing his secretary twice. He said it was only a kiss, nothing more. He loves me instead. Even though nothing in me believed his words, I stayed because I needed to. My father says it's my duty to him for everything he has provided for me. I've always been his little pawn in some bigger picture. A business deal, some contract, whatever is good for business. I'm good for business. I clutch my black purse tighter as I make my way to my fiance's doorstep. Asher O’Neill was a better option than the rest. Tall, blue eyes with a muscular build any woman would drool over. Other than my father's selfish reasons, Asher's looks made it easier to agree to this marriage. I'm sure he's no different than the others, a scum with a dick that never stays in his pants. My heart skips a beat as I stare at the door slightly open. Asher has been gone on a business trip for a month now and we've barely seen each other since his return. The wedding preparations have taken most of my time. Emma's presence is the only thing holding me together. She has me going all out even though she knows how I feel about him. I still have no idea how she managed to convince me to make myself happy by throwing my dream wedding anyway. It would suck so much if I let my father ruin the one thing I can control. Asher had no problem agreeing to everything I wanted for the wedding. He also has no idea I'm at his front door. I can feel my heart racing as I slowly push the door open. “Asher,” I call quietly as I walk into his apartment. A scoff falls off my lips as I stare at the pair of red heels scattered by the couch. Two glasses half-filled with alcohol on the wooden coffee table. Loud moans fill the hallway as I slowly walk to his bedroom. A part of me somehow knew it was always more than just a kiss with him. There's a black bra on the floor next to a dress and a tie and a blue shirt. The one I got him. Fucking asshole. I hear his grunts as I reach the door. It's the same one he makes every time he's inside me and about to have a release. I can't believe I ever let him inside me. God. Asher's butt is in clear view as I stand in the doorway with my jaw open. He has his secretary bent over and gripping the edge of the bed frame. “Fuck you Asher.” His blue eyes pop out as he turns to stare at me. The muscles in his jaw tense. “And your fucking whore.” The red hair scribbles to her feet, pushing Asher away. She doesn't have to gut to stare in my direction as she reaches for the covers. “Olivia, I had no idea you were coming over,” Asher says. I stare at him with disgust as he walks closer to me. “Don't you dare.” I pick up my pace as I walk back to the living room wishing I never came here. The image of them fucking stuck in my head. “Olivia! Olivia, hold up!” He calls behind me, I can hear the struggle in his voice as he rushes to me. I grip the door handle, opening it wide enough for me to step out. His fingers grab the arm of my coat as I try to leave. “Olivia, please hear me out.” “Let go of me!” I yell, yanking my arm from his grip. “She means nothing to me. It's just sex.” I look down at his naked body. He tries to cover his dick with his palms. His face is almost believable as he looks worried. I cough out a laugh. “It's over between us.” The worry in his eyes grows even more as they bulge out. “You can't. Your father won't let you.” “Fuck you and my father. The wedding's over. I never want to see your fucking face again.” It's anger in his eyes now. “Olivia!” he yells as I walk away. I slip into my car, my blood raging with anger as I grip the wheels. I hate myself more as a tear falls down my cheek. My father would be pissed if he were here. He always said tears make you weak. But that was a tear for me and everything I've had to put up with for him. Not again. Not this time. I drive away dialling Emma’s number. She's my best friend and probably my only friend. We've been together ever since I lost my mother. Emma answers the call on the first ring. “Emma.” My voice sounds shaky as I suck in breaths to suppress my anger. “Olivia, what's happening? Where are you?” Emma responds worried. I hit the brakes knowing I'm far away from Asher's apartment and park beside the road for a minute to steady my breath. “Driving. In the middle of some road.” “What's wrong Olivia?” I squeeze my eyes shut. An action I regret almost immediately as the image of Asher's whore bent over his bed frame pops in my head. “He was fucking his secretary. I saw it Emma, and I ended everything. I'm not getting married to that stupid scumbag.” “That son of a b-” I hear some noise in the background as she gruffs loudly into the phone. “Meet me at Nextar Night Bar in twenty. You have to tell me everything,” she says before cutting the call. I look ahead at the road, troubled by how to tell my father I'm no longer moving forward with the marriage. I suck a sharp breath, putting my car in drive. Emma's right. All I need is a few drinks for tonight. And a good fuck if I'm lucky.LeonardOut of the substantial amount of fucked ups I've had in my lifetime, this is the worst. The absolute fucking worst. “I think you've had too many drinks tonight, Liv.”She laughs but there's no humor in it. “I fucking knew it. You lied to me!”She throws her arms in the air furious. “Everything we've had from the start was a lie, Olivia.”Not everything entirely but I don't add that. “God, I'm so stupid.” Her eyes are glassy as she tries to grab the door handle. I hate myself for it. But I do the exact opposite of what I know I should do. I stop her from leaving, I can't let her go. “Olivia,” I breathe. Her name is stuck on my tongue with no other words. What do I say to her? That I'm a fucking undercover agent that used her to get to her ex-fiancé? I'd hate me if I were her. “Let go of me.”Her jaws are tense, eyes heavy with rage in them.“I can't. Not like this.”I want to kiss her temple. Take back every hurt in her eyes. She doesn't deserve any of it. I'm the piec
Leonard“Kill me,” I mutter underneath my breath as I lean a bit closer to Olivia. I had no idea of this party until this evening when I got her message. Olivia's father wanted us to be here by all means. I couldn't let her down. She owes me a fucking whole lot. The crystal chandelier above casts dancing shadows across the mahogany dining table as I adjust my tie. It's suffocating being here. Acting as Liam. It's different when I'm with Olivia. I get to be Liam and Leonard at the same thing. Sound crazy right? Maybe I'm going crazy already. I have more clones of myself than Spiderman has in different multiverse. I almost choke on a laugh at the thought of it. Olivia sits beside me . Her fingers wrapped around the stem of her wine glass, knuckles white with tension. Even in her anger, she's breathtaking. The emerald dress she wears brings out the fire in her green eyes, and I find myself stealing glances at the curve of her neck. The way her lips purse when she's trying to contain
Olivia “What?” The coffee cup trembles in my hands as Emma leans forward across the small café table, her voice dropping to barely above a whisper. “I'm just saying, Olivia, don't you think it's strange how Liam never talks about his childhood? Or his family?"I set the cup down, the ceramic clinking against the saucer louder than I intend. “Not everyone's as open as you, Em. Some people are just more…private."Emma's eyes narrow slightly, and I catch that look she gets when she's determined to make a point. "Private is one thing. Evasive is another." She stirs her latte methodically, the spoon creating tiny whirlpools in the foam. "Last week at dinner, I asked him about his hometown, and he changed the subject so fast."Heat creeps up my neck. I had invited Emma and Liam for a casual dinner at my place. "Maybe he just didn't want to talk about it. Not everyone loves sharing their life story over appetizers.""Olivia." Emma reaches across the table and touches my wrist. “I car
LeonardOlivia's body is warm against my palm as I flutter my eyes open. I have no idea when I got my arm around her after we had slept off. Her breaths are steady as I watch her for a moment. Lips parted in the tiniest space. I get the urge to kiss them but I stop myself. Last night was incredible but it doesn't change the dynamic of our relationship. No matter how dangerously intoxicating making love to her is. I can't have this situation messier than it already is. “Is there something on my face?” Olivia's eyes bulge out. She is awake now and looks terrified as her fingers run over her face. I laugh. “What?” “I caught you staring,” she replies. The ray of sun from her window makes her eyes glow. “Because you're so goddamn pretty, princess.”Her lips part but she doesn't speak. It's torture not having to lean in to kiss her. Taste every inch of her mouth. She moves her gaze away from me as she clears her throat. Our knees brush against each other under the covers. The tiny gr
Olivia “Christ.” Liam holds my waist with steady arms as we barely make it into my living room. His lips are all over my body. Fingers dangerously edging closer to my core. My gown is halfway across my legs and almost bunched up around my waist. I help him out of his jacket, needing to feel his bare skin. I've thought about this moment again more than a few times. His lips driving me crazy as we move further into the room. I wince in pain when my leg hits my sofa. Dammit. We're both of breath when we break the kiss. Stupid furniture. He looks like he is trying to fight something internally. "Olivia," he breathes. The sound he makes as my name falls from his lips causes aches in every part of me. “This…your rules,” he whispers. His voice husky and drenched in lust. I stare at the bulge in his pants. Only a tip gap between us. My fingers trail down his waist to feel his erection. "Fuck," he groans. “Damn the rules. I want you,” I whisper. His grey eyes glimmer with passion as
The gravel crunches under Leonard's BMW as we pull into my father's circular driveway. My palms are slick with sweat despite the air conditioning, and I find myself smoothing my dress for the hundredth time. I slowly exhale, keeping my eyes forward. The familiar sight of the Georgian colonial house with its perfectly manicured hedges and imposing stone columns makes my stomach clench."Breathe, daisy," Leonard says, his hand finding mine across the console. His touch is warm and steady. A stark contrast to my trembling fingers. "It's going to be fine."I want to believe him, but he doesn't know my father the way I do. Fernandez Murray doesn't approve of anyone easily. And he certainly won't approve of my whirlwind engagement to a man he's never met. Or even knows. My father's sudden business trip was our excuse to avoid the dinner he requested the first time. It gave Liam and I more time to prepare. But I still don't feel quite ready. The diamond on my finger feels heavy as lead.
