{Prologue - Bianca}

The moon rose in the night sky as Bianca sat at her oak desk. Her long nails tapping on the dark wood. She sighed. Today was the last of her days at home before she was teleported into a boarding school.

As if she couldn't just go to a public one, where weird uniforms didn't exist, posh manners weren't needed all the time and the only species was hers, the vampires.

She gazed around her room. The homely and familiar furniture comforting her.

Bianca really didn't want to go, but being a pureblood meant strict parents and therefore no say in anything.

Her mother controlled her like a robot, adding new upgrades and new options whenever she could, her father wasn't around much because of his business but Bianca always felt closer to him. He always let her make the choices, he didn't teach her what to think, he taught her how to think. Of course he wanted his only daughter to succeed, but he refused to build her into the person he her mother wanted her to be, he wanted to let Bianca live her life.

"Your choice Bianca, do as you wish." he would always say with that small smile. If only he was here before her first day to give her words of wisdom-

"BIANCA!" a yell and the door bursting open interrupted her thoughts but before the person could react, Bianca raced over and had them in headlock.

"Ah let go you ass!" the voice yelped and gripped her arm. But Bianca only tightened her grip.

"Max if you do that again I'll rip your throat out" she hissed before letting go. Max tumbled to the floor holding his throat.

"I only came to tell you that we're going hunting now, geee" he complained getting up.

Max was Bianca's older brother but nowhere near as cautious and quick as she was. He left boarding school a few months ago and he's been annoying Bianca about it ever since.

"I'm not hungry" she replied before tucking a strand of snow white hair behind her ear, her silver eyes flashing red as Max was about to continue. Seeing her reaction he lifted his hands up and turned about to walk out. Bianca softened, she realised how much of a bitch she must have been to him. The whole new school thing didn't really appeal to her, she was nervous.

She walked to him and put her hand on his shoulder before he could leave, turning him around. She threw her arms around him.

"Look I'm sorry Max, I'm just stressed." she said, Bianca could feel Max responding to her hug and wrapping his arms around her.

"Don't worry about it, plus you'll be fine, no one messes with the purebloods and I'm sure youll make friends, just not the werewolves... Ugh... I don't know who let those dogs there." he assured her. Bianca then pulled away frowning. Werewolves and Vampires weren't on the best terms and even though she was brought up to hate them, she saw no reason to. As long as they didn't start conflict with her, she wouldn't start any with them.

She began dragging Max down the hallway.

"Come on, It's my last day here for a while, lets go catch some food. I'LL RACE YOU TO THE GATE!" And with that she sped down the stairs, her hair a blur behind her. Max didn't get a chance to respond as she was already out of the door.

-----

"Ah that was nice, wasn't it?" her mother asked, biting carelessly into the small deer in front of her. Bianca watched as it kicked and wriggled before becoming limp in her mothers grasp. She looked down at the rabbit in her lap, the grey fur, fluffy. She picked it up.

"I'm sorry buddy" she whispered before sinking her fangs into the animal. Blood hit her taste buds as she drank. The rich liquid quenching her thirst. Bianca drank until there was nothing left she then lifted her head and wiped her chin. The rabbit now lifeless, its eyes glass - like staring into nothingness.

"I'll be back" , she said and stood from the wooden log which they sat on.

Bianca walked further into the forest, the trees rustling in the cold wind. Her eyes darted around. It would be a real shame to waste this rabbit, and she didn't need it anymore. She walked around a stone and crouched. The hole in the ground clear. She gently placed the dead rabbit at the entrance. This was a fox's hole. Bianca always did this, whatever animal she killed, she always gave it to another.

She really felt bad, but it was the only way to survive. She shook herself and quickly walked back to her mother and Max.

"Bianca have you packed your things yet?" her mother asked, smoothing down her blue skirt. Bianca nodded.

"Yeah I have everything ready, when we get back home I'll just put on some fresh clothes then leave."

Her mother nodded, it was her idea to send Bianca to a boarding school. She believed Bianca needed the best education and a very strict lifestyle if she wanted to be successful.

Bianca stood, excusing herself she started walking back to the house.

She got there in a few seconds and went straight upstairs. She opened the door to her room and picked up her already packed suitcase, mostly clothes, books and some skincare. Bianca didn't see a point in doing anything to her skin even though her mother pestered her about it, it's not like she could see anything, she had no reflection. She placed it on her bed and opened her wardrobe, grabbing the classy yet complex school uniform.

A white ruffly blouse with a black ribbon wrapped around each wrist, another black ribbon which she was to tie around her neck in a bow, a black pencil skirt which reached mid-thigh, white thigh-high lace stockings, black laced up shoes with heels and the strangest of all, a red ribbon which she has to tie in her hair at all times during school hours. Bianca thought it was a rather unusual school uniform. She expected a plaid skirt, black blazer and some tights, this seemed too over the top.

"I look like a secretary" she murmured, glancing in the mirror, her clothes seemed to be floating, she sulked.

If her mother wasn't so controlling, she would be able to stay at home and study her way. But no, turning her children into machines was the best idea of course.

Bianca grabbed her brush and ran it through her white hair, it's texture silky, reflecting the moonlight in a glamorous manner.

That was just Bianca, standing at 5'11, long, blinding, white hair, pale smooth skin, sharp features, full, bow-shaped lips, slender figure. You could say she looked like the cliche.

Her mother approved but she didn't like it, Bianca thought her appearance did not match with her personality at all, she was more than the deadly dazzling creature everyone saw her as.

"Knock Knock"

Her head whipped to see Max coming in. Her lips pursed together in a tight smile and Max giggled, eyeing her clothing.

"Oh come on, this is the uniform they gave you? You look like someone's upper-class mistress rather than a schoolgirl" he commented and Bianca rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry I don't like it either, this shit itches," she said and scratched her neck with her deep red nails.

"Mother is waiting downstairs to see you off, you know how to get there right?"

"Straight, get to the border of the vampire territory, turn right into the shared territory, through the forest and through the portal out of the shadow realm." she recited, Max had made her repeat it twice every day for the last 5 weeks, she thought it was rather pointless as she could simply write it down but chose not to argue.

" Good, and avoid the dogs, they like that forest especially, it's the shared territory but that doesn't mean those mutts won't start anything"

"Max their species has a name and its not mutts," Bianca said tying her hair into what she thought was the half up half down hairstyle with the red ribbon.

"Well too bad, you act as if they don't call us bloodsuckers." Max defended himself and she smacked her lips.

"If they're so bad why are you so keen on stooping down to their level and even acknowledging? Really Max, think, you're the older sibling where did all your knowledge go?"

"My knowledge went the same place as your reflection" he replied, proud of his joke before his smile started fading.

"Max our reflections are just as nonexistent as your brains, now come on I have to be there so I can get my schedule and explore," she said and hurriedly grabbed her suitcase off the bed and dragged it out of her room and downstairs where her mother was waiting in the grand hall.

As she saw Bianca approaching she smiled.

"I hope you're ready," she said and took Bianca's cold hand in hers.

"Not really, I'd rather stay at home and read," she replied to which her mother tutted.

"That's exactly why you need boarding school, you're not going to succeeded reading useless fiction all day"

she said sternly and Bianca kept quiet, choosing not to waste her breath explaining how she taught herself through the books which were far from 'useless' or 'fiction' for that matter.

Max suddenly appeared and pulled Bianca into his grip, squeezing tightly. She giggled slightly at how much more childish her older brother was than her.

"I'm gonna miss you pea brain" she whispered in his ear, standing on her toes. Vampires were tall creatures, their height varied but always stayed constant, at the age of 116 all vampires stop growing , so whatever height they have, they're stuck with for the rest of eternity, or until someone happens to end their life. Can you even call it life if they're dead?

"Hey!" he complained punching her arm lightly. But it was clear that their sibling bond was strong, he would really miss his sister.

"Farewell then my child, make your family proud, grades up head down in books." her mother stated and placed a kiss to Bianca's cheek.

"Yes mother," she said and bowed her head respectfully, her mother was never truly affectionate but she showed her love for her children in various ways, even through sending them to boarding school.

"I'll be back whenever I can, please tell dad I'll miss him," Bianca said and with a short wave, she grabbed her suitcase opened the door and sped off into the night sky.

-----

The wind rushed through her hair, her body moving in a blur as she raced through the vampire territory. The multiple houses becoming one as she glared around.

The border was close.

She saw the barbed wire fence coming to view, the curved, spiky wires stopping anyone other than a vampire from entering.

She slipped through and turned right, in a matter of seconds the grand forest came into view, the trees stood tall.

She ran fast, not wanting to encounter anyone. Her pace slowed a little as the presence of other beings hit her senses before the smell of wet dog filled her nostrils. Even if she had no personal reason to hate werewolves she had to admit, they smelled awful, no matter how clean or dirty they were, to a vampire's sensitive senses they always smelled the same. She scrunched her nose up and thats when she saw a group of them, about four, their heads whipping in her direction. She could see their bared teeth clearly despite her distance. The vampire frowned slightly, she could only smell three seperate yet equally putrid scents. Why couldn't she smell the fourth? She noticed the three werewolves with the awful stenches standing straight, clearly ready for a quarrel.

Bianca had no intentions of picking a fight, she never reacted unprovoked. Therefore she continued running until she was at the portal leading out of the shadow realm, the mirror like door, invisible unless you knew what you were looking for. She stood for a second, her grip tightening on her suitcase before jumping in.

A tall building came into view as she landed in front of an open gate.

Terlace Academy

One of the most prestigious schools.

Bianca glanced around, various creatures came into view, vampires, demons, psychics, werewolves.

'Hmm I better go collect my timetable'

She straightened up and began walking, her aura gaining attention from a few fellow students. Bianca noticed the differences in everyones uniform, each species had their own special design, unique details.

The bulding was definitely old, Victorian like and clearly posh. She walked in through the grand wooden doors, she'd have time to explore the outside later. There was a man at the front desk, sitting down in a black suit, scribbling something down ferociously.

His attention fell on Bianca as her heels made contact with the floor.

A smile appeared on his face.

"Welcome, your name please?" he asked his voice was deep but smooth.

"Bianca Stelle" she replied, crossing her arms as the man stood and flicked through a stack of paper to his right before pulling one out and turning back to her.

"Here you go Miss Stelle, your timetable and room number, your assigned roommate is Scarlet Rye, a succubus," he said and handed Bianca the paper, she took it politely, said her goodbye and left.

Wandering from floor to floor she finally found her dorm and room, the fifth floor at the very end of the hall, room 200.

She knocked on the door before entering, upon opening the door she was met with a girl sitting on one of the beds. Noticing Bianca's entrance, she stood with a wide pearly smile on her face. Bianca studied her features. She had long, curly, deep red hair, arched black eyebrows, burning red eyes, red puckered lips and a high nose bridge. She was definitely smaller than Bianca, but not by much.

"Hey I'm Scarlet, you must be Bianca," the girl said, her smile growing wider.

Bianca nodded and was about to hold out her hand but the girl pulled her into a hug.

"I can already tell we're going to get along just fine," she said, her head resting on Bianca's shoulder as she gently hugged back. The girl seemed to have a warm personality however Bianca sensed something positively fiery about it.

"Of course" she smiled back.

"I didn't want to just choose the beds without your input so I waited, which side would you like?" Scarlet asked and Bianca could see her red eyes shifting to the left.

"I really don't mind, I don't sleep anyway, but I'll take the right one"

Scarlet's eyes lit up and she swiftly jumped on the bed to the left side of the room, staring at the black ceiling.

"Wait, you really don't sleep at all?" she asked, glancing up at Bianca who nodded.

"Nope, I don't need to."

"Wow, you're missing out" she glanced at the tall white-haired girl before her, squinting at the brightness of the girl's locks.

"So how did you end up in a boarding school? Strict parents?" Scarlet sighed at the last part.

"How did you know?" Bianca giggled.

"Mine were the same, constantly on my head... Now, want go explore the school?" the bubbly girl asked with pleading eyes, already jumping to her feet.

"I was just about to ask that" the vampire grinned.

"I told you we'd get along."
