.Chapter 1: Ford.Ford grabbed his coffee off the commons table near the glass doors, ready to head to his first class. One of his slate-colored ear's twitched at the sudden boisterous laughter a couple table's over. He wasn't paying enough attention to know what they were talking about. His hearing is good enough though. That scared you. Shall we kill them?"No," Ford said underneath his breath. It's been two weeks. Let me out.Ford wanted to ridicule the statement, but he blushed instead, "Raze, i can't right now," He murmured as he placed his earbud's in to make it look like he was on the phone, "You know this." His Lycan's hum in response thrummed his chest and he flushed deeper.Raze had a mind of his own, he is one with Ford but also a separate, exceedingly more primal, part of him. Ford’s earliest memory of him was probably when he was thirteen. His parents didn't know a thing about Raze for all he knew. His parents though, weren't Lycan's, they were cat species, which is why they didn't bat an eye at Ford, with his black ear's and butterscotch slitted eye's. His canine's were subtly lengthen but noticeable nonetheless. They claimed he was of same category because of his lithe body and small figure which was attributed by his omega sub-gender.But he wasn't. And he knew he could never tell his parents. No one must know about Raze. He, who had enough individuality to name himself, and shift whenever need be. When he did end up shifting, unable to fight back Raze any longer, the Lycan killed and Ford always blamed himself for it. It was his Lycan, his hybrid, and he always felt so hopeless because of it.Because his Lycan would undoubtedly be an alpha, although Ford hadn't heard him declare it but everyone knew an omega couldn't control an alpha. but his ability to fend the other off made the boy think that Raze didn't follow those dynamics;Thankfully so.It was a secret so huge that it forced him into privacy or he'd wind up putting himself at risk. Lycan's hadn't been a known specie's of hybrid in several hundred years. Almost the entirety of the world's population assumed they were extinct. Ford couldn't handle that kind of attention. And the fact that not all hybrids bared the same trait's helped in hiding, for example, his parent's had tails but he did not.But i'm hungry and they're... too inadequate to live ."Behave please, I have to go to class" was all he said in finality. He wasn't paying too much attention to where he was walking when he tried to maneuver himself through the hall of the literature building without moving his eye's from his phone. This, in turn, had him bumping into a wall like force and he shivered in trepidation when he peered to look up at person-like wall.Dallas Oaks was sneering down at him.Dallas. One year below him. Two years younger than him. Five or so inches taller than him. His biggest bully."I-i'm sorry i wasn't-""Shut up house-cat." The bigger, panther hybrid sneered.Dallas, Ford hated to admit, was stupidly handsome. His black hair, longer now and separated down the middle and often-times swept back with clawed fingers, went nicely with his paler skin and obsidian eye's. He always wore a lot of black and today was no different. A black and white stripped long-sleeve shirt draped nicely across his well developed upper-half and his black skinny jean's hugged his taut thigh's in an annoyingly delicate fashion.Ford wanted to look but his eye's shot to his feet on instinct instead as response. He was trying to keep from having an altercation. That's how he lived his whole life. Trying to avoid what Dallas seemed to want most. If it got too out of hand Ford wouldn't be able to restrain Raze and it all depended on his emotional state. Ford needed to keep level-headed.Do not look down, raise your head without fear. The Lycan had always told him something of the sort when the smaller encountered Dallas.Watch me kill him."Look at me when i'm fucking talking to you." Dallas snapped, taking one of his black clawed hands to grab Ford’s face and yank it up. Ford wanted to clench his eye's shut, body trembling now as he looked up at the alpha with dread set in his faceHe could feel one of the younger's claw's slicing into the skin of his jaw, a sudden spike of discomfort throbbing it's way inside him. "Why are you so fucking worthless, huh?" Dallas leaned forward, too close, too close to almost make out the difference in color between his iris and pupil. He smelt good and Ford’s body felt unsteady, "Watch where the fuck you're going. Because the next time you run into me i'm gonna beat you to a bloody pulp." He sneered.Dallas’s pupils seemed to be huge from Ford’s point of view, the younger's jaw set and nose wrinkled. Ford assumed he looked pathetic but Dallas had seen him enough like this that at this point it didn't matter. The taller then shoved Ford away, pushing him hard enough to fall onto his butt, and paralyzing him in place.“That's kind of an ugly fucking sweater you're wearing," Dallas taunted and reached forward with a nasty smile, his claw's scratching its way down his throat shredding the top of his neckline purposefully. The cotton fabric was sliced through like soft butter and fell open, exposing his porcelain formally unblemished neck and chest before falling off his shoulder. The heavy fabric sagged sadly on him.Ford had immediately felt exposed, sleeve-covered hands coming up to brace the mangled fabric with his head tilted back and eye's squeezed shut. He hadn't even realized that he'd inadvertently submitted to Dallas exposing himself, which was a no-no, until Raze's growl vibrated his quaking chest. It made the smaller look back up, glassy eye's and canine's nearly tearing into the flesh of his lower lip.The taller boy just seemed to watch him, he snorted, " You submit so easily to every alpha that put's you in your place? Fucking whore."Let me fucking kill him! He threatened us-"N-no! i d-don't-"Dallas passed him with a laugh.Ford’s words were deaf to the others ear's. He never showed up to class, opting to go to the restroom and look at what exactly the alpha had done to him.And to Ford unsurprising theory, there were red marks down the front of him.Four scratches on the left of his throat and one his right. They looked like they were trying to strangle him, leading down to the center of his chest like a waterfall. Like the tear that was finally shed as he stared at himself in the mirror. His lip was bleeding too, also unsurprising. He held his phone and folder close to him trying to cover up the shredded fabric on his way back to his dorm."Raze," He started. Why do you resist me? Why must you let that hybrid live?.TBCA week had passed since Hailey woke up. Feeling stronger and restless from constant bed rest“I think I will go down for breakfast today," Hailey murmured to herself, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. She dressed quickly, eager to rejoin the world beyond her bedroom walls., As Hailey descended the grand staircase, she heard voices that made her pause. "Duncan, we need to discuss this trip," Lisa's voice carried a note of frustration."Lisa, I have told you, now is not the time," Alpha Duncan replied, his tone conveying exhaustion.Hailey's heart sank. She did not want to interrupt or cause more tension. She had been avoiding them since the incident. Just as she was about to turn back, Alpha Duncan looked up and spotted her."Hailey," he said, surprise evident in his voice. "Please, join us for breakfast."Hailey hesitated, deliberately avoiding eye contact. "I...I think I would rather have my breakfast in my room," she said. "Thank you for the offer, Alpha." The formality
The palace halls fell quiet as the head healer emerged from the treatment room. Her face was tired but relieved as she approached Luna Grace, who had been waiting anxiously outside."How is she?" With a barely audible voice, Luna Grace posed the question. "We have done all we can for now," the healer murmured, wiping her brow. The critical part is over. Lady Hailey is stable, but she is still unconscious. We can move her to her room now."Luna Grace let out a breath she did not know she had been holding. "Thanks to the Moon Goddess. When do you think she will wake up?""It is hard to say," the healer replied. "Ghoul attacks are tricky. Her body needs time to fight off the dark magic. But she is young and strong. I have hope she will pull through."As they spoke, a group of attendants carefully moved Hailey to her chambers. Lila followed close behind, her eyes never leaving Hailey's pale face.Days passed, and Hailey remained unconscious. The pack was on edge, patrols doubled, and Alp
The palace gates burst open as Lila ran ahead, shouting frantically. "Help! Please, someone help us!"The guards at the entrance immediately tensed, their hands instinctively going to their weapons. One called out, "What is the matter?""It is Lady Hailey!" Lila cried, gesturing behind her. "She is hurt! We need the healers!"The stranger followed close behind, carefully carrying an unconscious Hailey in his arms. As soon as they entered the palace, chaos erupted.Guards rushed forward, weapons drawn. "Halt!" one shouted, before recognizing Lila. His eyes widened at the sight of Hailey. "What happened?"Servants gathering in the courtyard began to whisper among themselves."Is that Lady Hailey?""She looks so pale!""What could have done this?""Get the medical team, now!" Lila screamed, her voice cracking with desperation.A young servant boy nodded quickly. "Right away!" He dashed off towards the medical wing.Within moments, a group of healers swarmed around them. The head healer,
Hailey was buried in concentration and was hardly aware of the gentle knock on her door as she peered out the window. Silently, Lila walked in with a tray of food."Good morning, my lady," Lila said gently. "I have brought your breakfast."Hailey turned, offering a weak smile. "Thank you, Lila. You can just leave it on the table."Lila set down the tray and hesitated. "It has s been two weeks now, my lady. Do you not believe it's time to go outside for a little while? This time of year is when the gardens are most beautiful."Hailey's shoulders tensed. "I can not, Lila. The thought of facing everyone...their stares, their whispers. It is too much."Lila approached Hailey. “I understand, but staying cooped up is not good for you. You are starting to look pale as a ghost."A faint smile flickered across Hailey's face. "Maybe that is fitting. I feel like I am fading away in here."Lila knelt beside her, concern etched on her features. "What do you mean?"Hailey's voice quivered as she sp
