Elle POV
Elle woke up to a blaring alarm clock in her room, the sun was so bright against her all white bedroom.
Ugh, she moaned, it couldn't be time to get up already. Noooo.
But, here it was time to get up already.
As she slung her small frame out of the bed tossing the purple comforter over the mattress,
she could here her mother cooking in the kitchen.
Great Elle thought. She's home.
Elle heard her mother stumbling around again in the kitchen trying her best to make breakfast. As Elle walked down the hallway with it's peeling yellow paint on the walls, a tightness burned in her throat. Readying herself for the confrontation that was coming her way.
"oh you're home." Ann spat out. Like, Elle was her roommate instead of her daughter.
"You know our rent is due in a couple days. I'm looking a little short on my half."
"you're always a little short."I shoot back. It's petty as fuck.
I can feel the burn in my throat as I spit her attitude back out at her.
I hate how she makes me feel small sometimes, like her world is dependent on mine for survival.
You'd think it was she was the daughter sometimes instead of me.
She stills, looking at me with rage in her eyes, as she's scrambling eggs over the stove.
Taking a steady breath before we go into all out war, I make my way through the rest of the house trying to find clothes to wear.
I know how I can make some extra money tonight.
The strip will be packed it's Friday in Vegas, and people will be out, drinking, gambling, hot and ready to know what their future will hold. The Vegas strip was just 20 minutes from her hometown of Blackwater Heights.
If, I had any sense at all I'd leave my mother and find a place down there, so I could be free and independent of her. I make sure I'm dressed in all black, with a low cut tight fitted shirt on. Showing off my best assets.
If people are busy looking at the girls, they aren't busy watching me as I read tarot cards for them.
I hate it when people notice the little tic I have in my neck, as I feel the familiar wave of energy come over me once I shuffle the cards.
As I let the voices come in.
But that is my secret weapon. No one knows, that sometimes, sometimes the voices are right, that sometimes what the cards show me come true.
Grabbing my trusted Rider Waite deck, I had out the door and down to the Vegas Strip, hopefully I'll have enough rent money, or enough money to move away from my horrible mother and strike out on my own.
The heat as always was unbearable as Elle set up her table and decks and candles. But,I love it here on the strip, the excitement, and buzz of everyone.
My spot is right next to the strip club called Midnight's Girls. Max, the owner has always been nice to me. He looks out for me when I have clients that try and get a little handsy. Or mistake me for a stripper. The night began to flow in and out as some of my regulars would come by my table asking the same questions, " Will I get good tips tonight?" "Will I find love?" "Is he or she cheating on me?"
Those are my favorite questions, because they are almost always YES.
But, I always have tissues and a little hidden flask of Jack, just in case it's an emotional ending.
As I look down at my tip jar I notice I've actually made quite a bit tonight and as I'm counting I look up to see the most gorgeous man traveling with what can be only described as a pack of other equally mouth watering looking men.
All Tall and beautiful, but they seemed to be following the one in front, all of them seemed to almost walk behind him. This greek god is the most gorgeous out of all of them. Just that one thought makes the heat in my skin set on fire. My heart seems to be beating faster.
Get ahold of yourself woman!
I chide myself.
He is tall, tattooed from his arms, to his neck and god knows where else, but I can only imagine. He has this beautiful olive skin and dark hair with these eyes.
He is tall, tattooed from his arms, to his neck and god knows where else, but I can only imagine. He has this beautiful olive skin and dark hair with these eyes.
The eyes are what initially did it for me. Not quite blue but not quite green either. For a second our eyes meet and just that one second I think I see a flash of dark blue hit his eyes, the feeling that comes over me is bizarre. I can't place it, as I've never felt anything like this energy coming off of any other man before. It is also a look that make my panties want to melt off of my body as I feel heat rising all over me.
"Clam down girl", I try and whisper to myself.
But, then again most men don't know my little secret. My sensitivity to others energies.
The wind does a little whoosh around me. My candles flame flickers, and I hear my small spirits guides voice whisper "Not human".
All of this is a lot happening at fucking once. I feel hot, bothered, and overwhelmed. As a sickening feeling takes hold of me, I finally realize I'm staring with my damn mouth open.
If, they are not human what ARE They exactly?
Oh, fuck. I'm fucking drooling. great. Oh, my fuck.
He has definitely noticed me staring at him.
Everyone in his little pack of friends has noticed I'm drooling.
Let me just die of embarrassment now please. But, maybe they don't seem to notice me. They walk past me and to the doors of Midnight. Briefly, the Greek god at the front looks at me, I could almost swear he looks like he could either eat me in a way that makes my insides want to melt or he wants to murder me.
His vibes don't scream attracted.
As the mouth watering group of men head to the door Max greets them.
Max, who is wearing all black skinny jeans and a black top, his usual look, big and broad shoulders with a nose ring and black painted fingernails is the owner. Steps out with beers in hand, smoking.
"My boys, I'm so happy you could make your way out of the woods to see me."
The Greek god and Max hug, and they walk in. Before Max goes inside he comes next to me and lends in.
"How's it going tonight Elle?"
"Better than I thought."
I say, with a sheepish smile as I hold up my tip jar. I know I'm as red as a fucking tomato, and Max seems to know why.
With a wink, Max says, "They are harmless to humans." With that Max leaves me to the line that is starting to form at my table. As the night goes on I continue pulling cards for myself. But the lover's card of the tarot seems to haunt all of my readings moving forward.
I begin to realize it's for me. Could this mysterious mountain of a tattooed god be for me?
Elle woke up to a blaring alarm clock in her room, the sun was so bright against her all white bedroom.
Anna POV: The world was gold. That was the first thing I remembered—the way the afternoon sun caught the stalks of the tall grass, turning the meadow into a sea of shimmering honey. I was sitting at my mother’s feet, the wild clover tickling my knees, and the air smelled of crushed mint and the sweet, heavy scent of coming rain. To a six-year-old, the world was a playground of secrets, and my mother was the keeper of them all. I wanted to know every single secret. What my mother didn't kno was the visions had started. My power grew and sometimes I could already guess the secret before she even told me. "Keep your head still, little bird," Mama whispered. Her voice was like the rustle of silk against stone—soft, but with an edge that commanded the wind to listen. Sometimes I thought she cared and sometimes I felt fear coming off of her in waves. I tried to sit like a statue, though a ladybug was currently making a daring trek across my knuckles. I watched its red shell move, wo
Anna POV: The scream I thought I was echoing into the night died in my throat as gravity vanished. For a heart beat there was nothing but the whistle of the wind and the terrifying open void beneath my heels. I accepted I was going to really die this time there wasn't much fight in me now. The world tilted; I opened my eyes to glance at the horrible beauty of the inn's glowing windows that streaked upwards like dying stars. This was the last images I'd ever glance at. I waited for the bone shattering impact, for darkness to finally claim me and for all of this to be finally over. No more suffering. But the air around us felt thick- soffocating even. It wasn't the ground that met me it was him. I felt every hard muscle underneath me. I'm going to die, I thought, my fingers clawing uselessly at the rough leather of his coat. I’m going to die attached to a lunatic. But as Silas twisted his body in mid-air, putting himself between me and the looming earth, a spark of something ancient
POV: Silas I felt the cool steel of the blade slice through that useless excuse for an inn keeper. I also knew that it was time to run. I owed a debt and now I was refusing to pay that debt. I didn't care how many inn keepers I had to kill, no one was touching my little one. Speaking of her. I looked around my hair wild and now covered in sweat. Turns out killing someone can make you a bit nervous, I've killed before but never for someone else. Never have I killed and it meant something other than to save myself. I walked over to her as she sat behind the bed. The blood from the inn keeper's body was looking closer to her and she looked pale. Paler then I enjoyed her delicate body. Her beautiful blue eyes were staring at that blood like it was telling her secrets-whispering. Like a rabbit she looked like she would bolt any second. "Little one, you must come with me. I think we need to go now. Her hands shook as they reached for mine. I grabbed onto her and lifted her into my arms.
Anna POV: Chapter Thirty Nine: No good place like home. I could feel the ground pounding away under my feet. The earth felt like it was calling me back to it. My muscles ache and I feel as if my wounds have probably opened again, as wetness drips down my shirt. But, I don't have a choice, I have to get back to the woods, and have to hide. I whisper scream to myself. I hear laughter chasing after me before I hear him. He thinks this is a game. He is gaining on me. I try and weave magic and connect to the earth but only whips of light come out of my hands. Nothing is working, my lungs sting as I'm trying to run past brush and into the woods. Heaviness fills my body as blood is dripping down my stomach again. I've opened my wound. Fuck. I collapse right before I reach the tree's edge. His hands reach around me and gripping at my shoulders. I try and fight him off and dig my nails deep into his arms, I'm hoping I've drawn blood at least when I hear him hiss in pain. "That wasn't n
Chapter Thirty EightSilas POV: To sell her or to keep her.We drove for a few hours with her head dangling on my shoulder like a dead animal. She eventually would be dead after I sold her to witch hunters. I knew what she was the second she washed up from the river like a drowned rat I might want to lick, I went from wanting to make money off of her to wanting to lick her skin. Thank’s to her horrible fall I got to see every outline of her body as her clothes were plastered to her skin, and the goddess did have an amazing body. She slumped forward as the roar of the motorcycle died down, I pulled up to an inn where I had a room waiting for me. For now the little one needed rest, her wound needed time to heal. I can’t make good money on damaged goods. Opening the doors to the room which wasn’t much just a bed and a desk, with peeling wall paper on the walls, I put her on the bed. Best to let her sleep. Getting up the next morning I went downstairs to the bar and told my
Chapter Thirty seven Anna's POV: I always thought dying would be simple, but it turns out dying actually hurts like a bitch even if you choose to die. I landed on the water with a loud thud. The water was cold and I welcomed her. I was not scared to die. Not now, not after watching what happened to her sisters and their home. I would be okay with dying. I closed my eyes and let darkness take me, until the light hit me and I realized I couldn't breathe. The water had pushed me to shore, gasping and pain coming from all around my body, I was sure I was bleeding and the sun was everywhere and my body felt so weak. The fall had done a serious number on me and I felt like it took all of my strength to drag my body from the river that was raging behind me to the shore line. I could swear I could hear whistling as I coughed and gagged up river water trying to breathe. Someone was whistling like I wasn't dying. I twisted to lay flat on my back and finally look up at the sky. I h
Rain Pov: We laid there for an extended amount of time. I had lost count of how late it was. Time moved strangely here. She looked up at me, untangling herself from me. "Um. Can I be honest with you Rain?" I sit up and think shit she regrets this. "Yeah, I want you to please darling." Nervously
Chapter Twenty Eight Elle POV: I curse you Alpha Rain. I hate you and I want nothing more to do with you. I say these words as a storm rages within me and out of me blanketing the forest and pelting rain and thunder and lightning and wind. I want it to be the coldest wind he has ever felt in his l
POV Elle: I'm still too stunned by my latest interaction with Rain to really do anything else but sit back down on the bed. The huge bed with a fur blanket on it. A part of me wants to curl back into the bed that smells like pine and the woods just like him. A small knock on the door grabs back my
Chapter Twenty NineElle Pov: The dust has settled around me. The void, Draco, and Silas are gone. The only moments I had with my father are gone. I'm confused. My knees have hit the floor moments ago and I don't realize I'm screaming until I feel warm arms wrap around me. A tingling sensation going u
