Dante had held me until my tears subsided. My heart was heavy because we did not have much time at all to prepare for what was coming. I wanted to scream and cry because anything could happen to our people, our loved ones, and ourselves. Everything that we had built. Our futures…

“Are you ready to head over to Nightshade?” Dante asked me.

“Not really, but delaying the inevitable won’t be beneficial,” I said, sighing.

I went to bend over and put my shoes on, but Dante beat me to it. He knelt down and slid them on for me. That brought a smile to my face. My mate always took care of me even in the small things like this.

He stood up and pulled me up as well. We would be driving over since we had additional people coming too. This required all of our leadership. Dante’s parents would be overseeing things in our stead today.

My family would also be in attendance. It was sort of imperative that they knew everything. One good thing was that the gods had mentioned how the other Pro
