ALLISON'S POV

Unrequited love was a fucking bitch. I had been in love with Liam Knight for as long as I could remember.

A year ago, I found out that I was mated to Liam. I had expected him to reject me because I knew he always had eyes for my sister, Cassandra, but to my amazement, he accepted me, claimed me and we got married a few weeks later. I thought it was him trying to give us a chance, but I was wrong, and sometimes, I wish I had never taken the drastic decision to marry Liam that day.

Lying on the hospital bed with tears burning my eyes, I recently found out that Liam married me because one year ago, he could not get Cassandra since she was in love with his big brother instead.

According to my parents, I was found in the woods when I was just a baby, barely three months old, and when the pack took me in, I was given to Beta Cole by the Alpha to raise.

I cleaned the tears on my face when I heard a loud bang on the door. When the door opened, Liam walked in.

This was the first time he would be visiting me in the hospital since I got admitted here two weeks ago because he was always with Cassandra at her hospital. Not only him, but my parents as well.

“I guess you're awake and you're holding up fine.” He muttered to me, taking his seat on the long chair close to my bed.

I didn't bother responding, but let my gaze remain on the ceiling. I hated that he was here, I hate him to my bones for deceiving me all this time when he knew how crazy I was about him. I hated him for slapping it on my face that Cassandra was the one he truly loved and I was nothing to him. I hated that he does not believe me, he does not believe that I didn't cause that accident but Cassandra did. No one believes me.

“What are you doing here, Liam?” I asked, still refusing to look at him,

He cleared his throat aloud instead,

“Cassandra is dying.” He finally said to me, and I instantly turned my gaze to him,

“And what does that have to do with me? Two weeks ago, I was also in a very critical condition, but nobody cared, so why should I care about Sandra?

Liam grabbed my wrist instead, gripping it and hurting me as a result of how hard he was holding me,

“You caused the accident, Allison, so maybe the least you should do is feel remorseful that she's dying.”

I finally released my wrist from his grip with tears in my eyes,

Even my mate doesn't believe me, so why should I bother denying it again and again? “I wish to be left alone, Liam, please leave and don't come back to see me again. I don't want to see your face either.” I said to him and turned to the other side where I knew I could avoid the sight of him. I was done crying over a man who would never love me,

“You think I would be here to see you if it wasn't for Sandra? As a matter of fact, I'm getting the divorce papers ready immediately after your discharge.” He said, but I still didn't bother turning to look at him,

Instead, I bite my lower lips, trying so fucking hard to hold myself from crying out loud because of the pain,

I had done nothing but be a good mate and wife to Liam, supporting him through every tough time and even taking care of the pack when Lucas left after the wedding, yet he cheated on me with Sandra and was still choosing her over me.

The door opened while in my state of tears and I heard my mother's voice afterwards,

“You stupid girl, my daughter is in a critical condition all because of you.”

I didn't bother turning to stare at any of them until my mother forced me to turn in their direction,

“You're crying?” She scoffed at me as she continued, “Do you think shedding those fake tears would change anything? You ruined my daughter's life because of your jealousy, Allison. Why should you be walking the surface of the earth while Sandra gets to die?”

No one told me what was wrong or what they meant by Sandra was dying. I was the one who got affected by the accident more while Sandra barely had a scratch on her,

“We came to a decision, you're giving Sandra one of your kidneys. She urgently needs surgery by tomorrow.” Father cut in, and I widened my eyes in shock,

“What?” I yelled while staring at them,

“That is what I came to tell you, Allison. If you want to make up for putting her in this condition, then you have to accept the terms and give her one of your kidneys. That's the only way.” Liam added and that only worsened my pain.

I stared at each and every one of them staring at me, and I knew that in their minds, I was nothing but a monster who wanted my sister dead. I meant nothing to the people that I would give my life for even while I wasn't being treated right by them.

I sniffled, hating the fact that I even existed in this world to begin with. There was absolutely nothing I wanted to live for.

“I…”

“You have no choice, Allison. It's either a yes or you go to the pack jail for causing the accident. I would make sure you suffer every bit of pain there has to be in this world.” Liam said. In his eyes, I could see hate, pure hatred for me. Why didn't I see through his stupid pretense all these years? Now I had to live with my regrets but I chose not to,

“Fine. I'll sign the papers. I'll give Sandra one of my kidneys as you wish, but on one condition.” I said

My mother was going to yell, but Liam interjected before she could,

“What's that? Tell us what you want and if it's possible, we'll do it right away”

I cleaned the tears on my face and stared at Liam,

“Just like you wanted, I have a divorce paper ready. Sign it, and I'll leave your life for good after the surgery, Liam. You'll no longer be my mate and husband.” I said

“What?” Liam fired back at me, his expression filled with shock that I had chosen to take such a step ahead of him,

“You'll be free to have Sandra, just like you've always wanted because I'll be out of your life for good,” I told him,

Liam chuckled at me instead, his face mocking me like I was the stupid one. I could tell from the look on his face what was running through his mind, but I would never let it happen. I would never come back to beg him after this.

I reached out for the papers underneath my pillow and outstretched my hand towards him since he was right in front of me,

“You had the time to prepare this while on a hospital bed?” He asked,

“Does that really matter to you? I replied, still outstretching my hand for him to also take the pen from me. He stared at the papers for only a few seconds and, without hesitation, signed his name.

As soon as the last line was drawn, I felt a tingling pain in my heart, one that made me groan lightly. This was the first step, but still, it would never be complete without a proper rejection. If I don't reject him, we'll still be bonded as mates and I didn't want that.

I swallowed a lump of saliva down my throat immediately he handed me the divorce papers back, and after staring at it to ensure he had signed it, I let out a deep breath,

“For the last step.” I murmured to myself first, slowly accepting the reality before me, “I, Allison Scott, reject you, Liam Knight, as my mate, husband, and Alpha. I sever all ties with you and I hope we never have to see each other ever again.”

Liam went quiet for ten seconds while staring into my eyes, then he said, “I, Alpha Liam Knight, accept your rejection. You're no longer my mate, wife, or my Luna.”

I could see the pain in his eyes as the last blue thin thread of our bond ripped apart, but I was shocked that he was doing very well to hide the pain, and I was going to do the same. Hide my pain and walk away from this hell of a family.

ALLISON: I jerked my eyes open, taking heavy breaths in and out like I was in a suffocating environment. Once I managed to keep my heart at a steady pace, I tilted my head sideways to understand where the hell I was, only to see Sandra right next to me,"Sister," she called, her fingers on my shoulder, holding me firmly,"Are you okay, Allison? Did you have a bad dream?"I didn't respond, still trying as hard as possible to understand how I was here, why I was here, and how I got here. Almost immediately, I noticed the heavy gown on my body and realized I was in a wedding dress."Where the hell am I?" Sandra scoffed when she heard me, "You silly girl, you're in a limo, heading to your wedding venue. Is this how excited you are about getting married that you even forgot what day it is today? You wanted to take a little nap before we got to the venue." Sandra said,I still didn't understand. How the hell was I here? Was this some sort of place where the dead go after death, be

No damn way I would be seeing a ghost in broad daylight. She walked over to where I was and halted right in front of me with her arms folded under her breasts,“Hello, dear sister,” s

When the door opened, a nurse walked right in with a smile on her face,“Ms, I need to take your blood samples for a test before we commence the surgery tomorrow.” She announced softly and I nodded my head, sitting upright on the bed.As soon as the young lady was done, and ready to leave, I called her attention,“Excuse me.” She tilted her head back in my direction,“If I may ask, where is my sister's ward?
