Chapter 10

Dominic’s POV

The first time I really saw her, she was in my chair.

Council hall was a circus that morning, all these cranky old voices bouncing off the stone, the usual headache. Normally, I would storm in, bark out the law, end the chaos before it started, and remind everyone who was boss.

Except, I opened the doors and just…stood there.

She’s right there at the head of the table. My seat. Where I belong. But she sits there cool as anything, cloak draped over her shoulders, silver Luna crest shining. Her face is like a locked door, calm, almost bored, but her hands are steady on the wood while every ancient in that room talks.

And for once, nobody was yelling. No threats, no interruptions.  She was actually listening.

These stubborn fossils hung on her words, nodding along. When she spoke, they bowed their heads like she was some kind of goddess. Nobody was thinking about how she’s the random girl I married because of my dad’s orders. No, they looked at her like she was Luna.

I hid by the door, melting into the shadows, watching the whole show. Nobody even picks up that I was not in my seat.

She didn’t spot me.

And, I couldn’t drag my eyes away.

That... that was a first.

It didn’t stop there.

Two days later, I saw her down at the training grounds.

The warriors were basically half-asleep, stumbling through drills. Normally I would rip into them, chew them out until they remembered how to fight. Elora, though? She’s got her own game.

She struts onto the field, grabs a wooden staff, lines up right beside them, and doesn’t say a thing.

Her braid cracked like a whip when she spun, every move precise. One of the guys slips, she didn’t roast him, just nudged his stance, helped him sort himself out, quiet as you like. Next thing I knew, everyone was straightened up. Focused. They followed her like she had a magnet inside her head.

By the time I got closer, the whole formation was sharp, not a toe out of line. When she finally stopped, those warriors? They bow. Sweaty, proud, eyes practically spitting fire.

No one looked at me like that in ages.

I should have pissed myself off. I should have made my hackles rise, her stepping on my toes like that.

Except it didn’t.

It stung, but for a whole different reason.

I realized I had never paid attention to this fire in her before. Spent all that time with someone else, pretending Elora was still the kid I used to know, and here she was running the show I was supposed to lead.

Then, the feast came around.

The whole courtyard was glittering with lanterns, tables heavy with harvest. Usually, that was my gig, sit at the head, let people toast me in strict awkward silence.

But not tonight.

Tonight, they couldn’t get enough of her.

Kids dragged her into the dance, old folks bowed, babbling their thanks about their squabbles finally being solved. Warriors clapped her on the shoulder, omegas practically bear-hugged her, all glossy-eyed and grateful.

And Elora? She just shone. Not the annoying, smug sort of glow. It was like she was finally home. Right where she was meant to be.

Standing there, I got it...how invisible I made her.

The pack gave her what I never did.

I stayed in the shadows watching and smiling.

I decided right there, never again. No more running. No more leaving her to this, while I sulked and chased Mira while neglecting my duty as the Alpha.

If she would stand in the middle of the fire for this pack, the least I could do is stand beside her.

Not as her lover. But as her partner.

As her Alpha.

Her actual husband.

The next morning, I found her in the kitchen, elbows deep in flour, laughing with the omegas. I nearly tripped over my dignity, grabbing an apron.

She blinks at me like I had sprouted a second head. “Dominic?” She’s suspicious, can’t blame her.

I ditched the cloak, rolled up my sleeves, and grabbed a hunk of dough. “Alright, boss. What’s next?”

She sputters, gaping. “You...you’re helping?”

I shot her a grin and threw her own words back at her. “Isn’t that what a Luna does? Why should you do it alone?”

The omegas started whispering, and they still looked at her, not me. But there was this warmth, and for the first time? I actually felt it, too.

In the council meeting, I sat next to her. We judged together. It wasn't as boring as it used to be when I did it alone.

Training drills. I wasn't barking, I’m sparring, showing them we’re a team.

At feasts, I staked out the space behind her, hand on her shoulder, no words needed.

And it worked.

The pack started buzzing. Elders quit gossiping. The Warriors pushed harder. The omegas let themselves laugh.

Because now, for once, their Alpha and Luna were right there.

Together

It wasn’t about the pack anymore. That ship had sailed. It was all these weird, tiny moments sneaking up on me.

She laughed when she found me totally wrecked in flour, looking like the world’s saddest pastry chef. That little frown she gets when she’s hunched over maps, all stubborn focus, tracing out paths I never would have dreamed of. The way her eyes go all soft when she thinks nobody’s paying attention. Yeah, I saw that.

Look, I married her because it was what I was supposed to do. Out of duty. I made sure to spend all my free time with Mira.

But now, standing right there next to her, it got me in the gut. I actually felt proud. Also, the fun part, something heavy and sticky and not so pure. Possessive, almost. Like she’s mine. It grossed me out because I took her like a little sister.

One night, after basically surviving a day full of arguing idiots and drills, I caught her passed out over the council table. She just… collapsed. Maps everywhere. Cheek pressed into the paper, braid a mess, breathing slow. I just stood and stared. My chest tightened out of guilt, or maybe regret.

She did everything I was supposed to. She carried the pack. And what did I ever give her? A world-class masterclass in loneliness.

So I leaned down, caught a bit of her hair, and tucked it away from her mouth. She sighed quietly.

And something just snapped inside of me. Not the old hunger, not that pathetic craving for someone to fill up the empty space. This was… new. Deep. Scary.

The next day, I went full throttle. Not because I suddenly wanted her, not like that, but because I had a point to prove. She wasn’t invisible. Not anymore. Not to me, not to anyone. Time for everyone to get the memo.

I stood taller next to her in the council hall. I went harder on the training grounds, just to keep pace. I said her name out loud, in front of everyone, the elders, the warriors all of them. Luna Elora is leading this with me.

And, little by little? I saw something crack in her, too.

That flicker of doubt in her eyes is fading. Those walls kept getting shakier. The pack? They started to really see her. Not just Luna, their Luna. Ours.

I was going to be by her side as a good husband.

Dominic’s POV I stared at Elora. She is the real Luna of this pack. She was always so ready to do things for the pack. She has gone through a lot for this pack. My mind rolled back to when we were little and she would always say things she would do for the promise she would become Luna. I always laughed, and to him, he rages and makes a great Luna. Although I never believed it then, I just said comfort to her. But look at her now... the only thing different here is that she is married to me instead of Dante. She loves Dante much more than she loves me, that I could tell, but the bond was stronger. I love her too, but my brother and I can possibly share her because of the love and the bond between the three of us. Elora would be our Luna, She would be both our wife, and Luna. This was the only thing I would do for my brother and her. I made my brother my Co Alpha so we can both be with Elora. The full moon climbed above us, old and bright, a silver coin tossed into midnight velv

Elora’s POVThey used to say peace came quietly. But honestly, it never crashed in like a battle or scorched like heartbreak. It just slipped in, soft as dawn, slow and gentle, so easy to miss until, one morning, you noticed the birds were singing again. The Crescent Moon was finally mending. The smoke stopped rising from the broken borders. Laughter started to echo where pain and crying used to fill the air, real laughter, the kind that wraps around you and promises things will get better. And me? I wasn’t sitting on a throne or standing next to any Alpha. I was right there in the middle of it all, with my people. Most mornings, I went to do my Luna duties. I help rebuild broken homes, paint houses, and make sure the children and adults are being treated well in the healer's chambers. I took care of nursing mothers and made sure there were enough supplies to last for the day. Nobody was left unattended. The young warriors still in training often trailed after me while I inspected the

Dante’s POVHaving Elora fully back was something that lifted a happy mood in me. Although I didn't like the fact that we both had to share her, and I am not sure how, there was nothing I could do. I only wanted her to live and that was enough for me. I didn't want to be greedy. When Dominic sank his fang into her neck, I felt something in me snap. It was like him touching something that was not his in the first place. But he is my brother and there was nothing I could do. He was the Alpha and Elora was his wife. Even if she were my mate, I couldn't possibly stop her husband from trying to save her life. After we were done reconnecting, I left for my room to freshen up and catch a little sleep that I've been missing for quite some days. I was sure Elora was fully recovered now and would not slip in and out of consciousness anymore. Immediately, my head hit the bed after my cold shower, and I drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day, and I needed to be clear-headed

Elora’s POV I stared at the empty space within me with the moon goddess's voice echoing around me. She seemed to be humming a song. Everywhere felt so peaceful and I wished I could stay here for a little while. Back in the real world, I didn't want to take part in a lot of evil. I felt a sudden jerk and jumped."What is that?" I asked the moon goddess."You are being called back to life. It looks like your time with me has ended," She said, her voice soft."But I don't want to go just yet. At least not until everything is settled between the two brothers," I argued."Elora. This isn't about you. Your devotion to the pack is what has kept the brothers alive. If you don't go back to them, I'm afraid of the outcome," I shook my head violently. This isn't happening"Then at least tell me who I am going to choose," I pleaded."They are both yours..."Before I could make out what she had meant, I felt my body being pulled back as I tried to resist. When I opened my eyes, the air felt of

Dominic’s POVElora’s breathing was shallow. Each breath she took gave me a scare. It felt like forever, and my heart raced so hard. Her skin was really pale, and the mark Dante left was disappearing fast.“No,” Dante choked out, shaking her. “No, no, stay with me—Elora, please!”The healer’s hands trembled over her herbs and glowing bottles. She couldn’t pick one, couldn’t commit. Her voice cracked. “Her energy’s fading… her spirit’s slipping!” Her eyes darted to me, wide and scared. “If one bond won’t hold, let it pass through both. Bite her, Alpha.”I froze.Me? Bite her?I looked down. Elora’s lips parted, her face too still. I forced myself to breathe and met Dante’s eyes. He looked as if he would snap. “Don’t touch her,” he snapped. “She’s mine.”The healer’s voice cut through everything, sharp and furious. “You fool! If she dies, she’s no one’s!”Dante’s jaw clenched. That anger washed away, replaced by fear. His eyes flicked to mine. He swallowed, then nodded, slow and stiff

Elora’s POVMy chest squeezes up tight, first that low, annoying ache, then bam, it’s like a fist yanks the air right out of my lungs. I open my mouth to say I’m fine, but nope, the words just... melt. The room spins and goes all watercolor blurry.“Elora?” Dante’s voice, all echoey and weird, comes at me from somewhere underwater. Then the universe just flips sideways. The floor's gone. I’m weightless, but someone’s arms are strong; catch me before I faceplant. My head lolls back. I hear Dominic yelling for the healer, but his voice is just noise, buried under this ringing that’s taken over my brain.“Elora, look at me!” Dante’s voice cracks, desperate. He grabs for my wrist, checking for a pulse. I catch a glimpse of his eyes, those ridiculous golden eyes that always made me feel safe, they’re wide with panic now.“I can’t... she’s not...” the healer stammers, and honestly, that’s not what you want to hear right now.Everything dissolves into chaos. Hands everywhere, pressing cold c
