~~~ AIDEN ~~~
I couldn't sleep again. This was becoming my new standard. Instead of getting frustrated, I decided to use my time productively. I took my laptop to the hotel lounge and researched Damian’s mate.
He didn't seem to be in a good mood, so I left him alone for the night. He needed some rest because he had been working endlessly for the past couple of weeks trying to find out about Alex. He had been the one to take on all the burden while the rest of us could frolic around.
My brother needed a break.
I reviewed all the details the cyber team had sent Damian about Isabelle. At first, everything about her seemed normal, but I felt something wasn't right.
The more I tried to find out about her, the less information I got.
It gradually corroborated my belief that something was wrong with her data. It all felt planted carefully. I didn't uncover much about her education or work experience.
I found whatever info was available on the pack website— she was a junior administrator at the Moon Creek Pack downtown. It was a small pack, and I decided to dig into its Alpha and the other members, too, since I'd be meeting them soon.
I glanced through the pack pictures; oddly, Isabelle was in none of them. I frowned to myself as I kept looking at other things. I wished it was all in my head and that Isabelle was an ordinary girl. The last thing I wanted was for Damian to lose his mind over his mate. That wouldn't be pretty.
I spent hours combing through all the reports and communicating with our cyber team, but I couldn't achieve much. I was frustrated and about to give up and go for another run when I spotted Damian in the hotel reception.
It was early morning, and seeing him up so early worried me. I could tell that he hadn't slept much.
"Where are you going?" I asked him after catching up.
"I'm going to meet the pack's Alpha," He answered.
"Now?" I asked, “It's four thirty in the morning,” I pointed out, even though I knew why he was getting so restless about seeing her. I'd have been in the same state if it had happened to me. No, wait, I don't think I would have been able to hold myself back this long if my mate left me. I'd have immediately gone after her and made her stay with me no matter what.
Damian was too patient. I was the impulsive one.
However, his patience hadn't been producing results lately. Maybe being impulsive now and then was good- well, it was for me.
"We'd be there in half an hour. Most of the pack members are up by that time for training," he suggested. I nodded in concurrence.
"I'll go with you," I offered.
"I'd have dragged you with me anyway," He shot, tossing me the car keys. I gave him a ridiculous grin before heading out with him. The ride to the pack was quiet. It wasn't the tense kind of silence. Damian was deep in his thoughts, thinking... or maybe missing his mate.
I'd have done the latter if I were him. But I had to admit that focusing on his problem made me forget about my issue. It was still there, but it didn't bug me anymore. Instead, I felt a strange sense of relief.
It was the relief one experiences, knowing they are doing what they should do.
...what if it meant that I was going to find my mate, too?
The idea suddenly crossed my mind, and I stepped on the gas.
"What the fuck was that!" Damian growled. I chuckled.
"An idea crossed my mind," I told him, smiling.
"That's bad," He muttered, "Your ideas make the devil look innocent.”
"No, this isn't that kind of an idea," I clarified, licking my lips. It intensely excited me now that I thought about it. Previously, I had never considered it a possibility, but now, I have hope.
"We have been feeling strange for the past few weeks. You ended up meeting your mate. What if I'm close to meeting mine, too?" I proposed.
Damian remained silent for a while before speaking,
"If you meet yours, I hope she doesn't run away like mine did.”
His words pinched my heart but, at the same time, made me more determined to hunt down that Isabelle girl who had done this to my brother.
"I'm positive that wouldn't happen. I have irresistible charm," I jabbed and Damian snorted but said nothing. "Fortunately for you, I have enough charm for the two of us. I can charm your mate on your behalf.”
"Enough talking," He growled. "Now focus on the road. I want to get there soon and in one piece, hopefully.”
"Of course you do," I chuckled. "I'm sure she'd be happy to see you as the first thing in the morning.”
"That is if she lives there in the first place," he muttered, but I heard him. His mood remained terrible despite my attempts to lift it.
"On a side note, did you get anything on Alex?" I asked him.
"No," I gritted, grinding my teeth.
"Isabelle is the woman Jules claimed to have some info about, isn't she?" I checked.
"Yes,"
"All the more reasons to find her," I noted, "She is the pack administrator. She could know a thing or two about the famous hacker. Alex had fucked everyone's systems at least once," I pondered.
"For now, it'd be good enough for me to see her again," Damian muttered gloomily than before. I sighed deeply.
"We'll find her, brother," I assured him, despite my doubts.
    ~ AIDEN ~"Were you touching yourself?" I demanded, my nostrils flaring. The air in the bedroom was so thick with her arousal that I could taste her in the air. I wanted to taste her, but then she begged for me, and I couldn't say no to her. But touching herself while she was right in front of me was where I drew the line. "Right in front of me? Did you forget the no-touching rule, pussy cat?"I growled, cupping her hot sexy ass. She was wet and needy, making my wolf stir for her. He wanted to unite with her as soon as possible. Isabelle squirmed under me, her face flushed with need."Do I need to show you what happens when you touch yourself, especially in the presence of your mate?" I asked, staring at her needy face. Her eyes were hooded with desire, her breath heavy, and her skin hot to touch. She looked so beautiful like that. Her face was so vibrant, and her cheeks and eyes looked less hollow. She looked so full of life... so ready for me."Yes," She whimpered, trying to close h
    ~ ISABELLE ~Even though Aiden had made me cum a few moments ago, my walls clenched continuously, reminding me of the emptiness. It intensified my need, and yet the cruel man was denying me what I needed the most— his knot.I needed it desperately to clench around. I had never had a knot in my life before. Very few wolves had knots. Mostly, the Alphas got a knot as soon as they met their mates. None of my previous lovers had knots.They had normal but impressive cocks, and I had been content with that much in the past. But presently, I needed more. I didn't even know what knots felt like, and I had never seen a knot in my real life, but the burning desire I felt for a knot at that moment was utterly unmatched."You're too weak to take my knot," Aiden had told me, stroking my cheek so gently that it hurt. I heard the concern in his voice, yet the desire in his eyes was undeniable. He was holding himself back, but for what? I didn't give a fuck about being weak.All I needed was his kno
    ~ AIDEN ~ Having my mate on my lap and feeding her gave me the greatest pleasure I could ever imagine. I wanted to do this every day from now on and never fucking stop. It was the best way to start one's day, and it gave me something to look forward to.Well, Isabelle gave me everything to look forward to, making me feel like the happiest man alive on the planet. But the same couldn't be said for Damian. I was aware of their heated interaction yesterday and how it had ended painfully for him.Damian looked completely broken after that, and seeing my brother in such a state troubled me. I wanted to talk to Isabelle about this. Why was she denying him? I needed to know, but at the same time, I didn't want to push her. She had somewhat lowered her guard for me, and it would be futile if I made a wrong move that could make her close off even more."Are you ready?" I asked her after I was done feeding her breakfast. She wanted to lie down briefly after a heavy breakfast. I had ensured tha
    ~ ISABELLE ~I spent the rest of the day napping, only waking up for a light dinner, but I immediately went back to sleep. When I woke up the following day, I felt highly disoriented. It was as if someone had taken me by the shoulders and shaken me until my brain was in shambles. I didn't leave my bed until Aiden came to check on me."How are you doing today, my pussy cat?" He asked, showering me with kisses, which annoyed and aroused me at the same time."Stop calling me that," I groaned, flexing my cybernetic arm and testing it."Why should I stop?" He asked, "You're my pussy cat," He teased, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into his lap and cradling me. I wanted to fight him for trying to flirt with me first thing in the morning, but I settled against his touch instead. Enjoying and welcoming his warmth.His presence somehow made my mood better."Are you hungry? Would you like me to bring breakfast here and feed you like last night while you were half asleep?" He asked, a
    ~ ISABELLE ~"You don't know what you're talking about," I told him, feeling overwhelmed by my emotions. It had been weeks since I had seen him. It felt like I had finally found a part of me that had somehow gone missing."I don't?" He questioned, watching me darkly,"Then tell me, Isabelle. Why must you keep pushing me away? Why do you keep ignoring me? Why do you hate me so much?" He pushed, "I want to know everything.”I could burst into flames at that moment as my darkest memories flashed in front of my eyes, reminding me of all those years I had to spend orphaned and nearly homeless. The sense of loss I felt then made it seem like my life had ended and there was nothing left for me to live for.It made me feel so alone, deserted, lonely, and insignificant because the only people I mattered to were gone forever. It shattered me forever. No matter how much I tried to be strong on the surface, my darkness always found a way to seep into the surface.I wanted to yell at him, tell him
    ~ DAMIAN ~I was back in my room in time to watch Isabelle discover my gift on the live feed of the cameras installed in her room. She was shocked to find the box and searched the room for a few seconds.After some contemplation, she opened the box and looked at my gift. I waited for her reaction, holding my breath. She studied the pendant for a while, a pensive look on her face. She glanced around the room again, but this time, she stared at the wall for a solid minute, and then something seemed to click in her head.I expected her to wear the pendant, but she closed the box and put it inside the closet as if she didn't want to see it again. I tried to ignore the minor stabbing hurt in my chest as I kept staring at the screen, watching her move through the room, looking.She stopped in front of the camera installed behind a decoration on the dresser. She stopped before it, filling my whole screen with her face and narrowing her eyes at me. For once, it felt like she was seeing me thr
