A Threat?

last update Last Updated: 2021-08-23 20:02:34

She had said her story, they had to accept it for what it was, but whether they accept it or not, it doesn't really matter because the Meiv's Council were the ones who would give the final verdict.

They were a group of seven warriors, they were clan heads considered to be protectors. They protect the people from external threats and have the authority to assign warriors under them. They were handpicked by their spirit guides, from their different clans, and only the strongest were chosen. That was what Curl dreamed of, to be a Biac warrior under the Meiv's Council. And to achieve this, he would have to be strong, like really really strong and fearless.

They were called The Lynx Lynch because once they win over a Lynx, a wild cat-like animal with sharp fangs, sharp sense and with a violent nature. Runs faster than them, stronger than them, bigger than them, but not more intelligent. Once they win over a Lynx, they get possessed by the Lynx, so powerful as the Lynx, sharing the same energy and life essence, thus they become violent and all they have to do is fight, violently, thus, a Lynx Lynch. That was the sacrifice they had to make, to cease being such a bright and peaceful Meiv!.

"You're welcome, my child" old man Gaius said, smiling. And just then they heard thundering noises from outside, Curl peeped out from a hole in the door and quickly ran to find somewhere to hide in the Tree house.

"This is bad!" Curl said, shaking in fear. Kar didn't have to look to see what it was, everyone knows when they come, the thundering sounds, even if it was only one of them.

"Why did you…?" old man Gaius didn't even let him finish his statement

"I'm sorry Kar, but this is what they do."

"But she is not a threat" Kar replied

"But she is a strange creature coming from a strange place. Yes she is an external threat"

"But you just welcomed her?" Kar added with a shrug

"Yes. Because I'm not the council. They make the decisions, if they insist that she is a threat, I can't do anything about it." old man Gaius defended himself. Although he had just betrayed their trust a bit - they thought. But they didn't know it wasn't his call, nothing like that was hidden from the Lynx Lynch, but he knew they would come, he should have just told them!

"Now for the worst part, Kar we are in trouble, for going to the greenlands!" Curl said coming out from his hiding place, because there was no no need to hide, he would still face any consequence that came.

"Don't worry about going to the Greenlands, it's not too bad. But don't go there again" old man Gaius advised them. They looked at each other with fear in their eyes, but not because of what he just said.

Pradai didn't know what was going on yet, but fortunately for her she could hear and understand all they were saying. But she was more afraid than them, because whatever that was going to befall on her, it was going to be very hard to take in, after all she wasn't one of them, so they could do anything to her.

"We know you're hiding something, bring it out" said one of the Lynx Lynch outside. They all looked at old man Gaius, with a facial expression to say 'please dont' but unfortunately, he couldn't resist, or he will be in trouble too.

"Now!" Commanded the Lynx Lynch again. They weren't so good with being patient.

Old man Gaius reached out to open the door and …

"Please don't let her be tagged a threat, and don't tell them about us" begged Curl.

"I will go with them, and I will try my best. And it you are talking about telling them about you two going to the Greenlands, is not a problem to go there, be rest assured, but they already know about it, sorry." old man Gaius assured them. They nodded their head, but they weren't worried about going to the Greenlands. It was something else, but they had better not say it, even to old man Gaius, yet.

He opened the door and went down, taking Pradai with him while the young Meivs watched from the top.

"I need to come with you too" old man Gaius said

"Why so?" asked one of the Lynx Lynch

"Because I know what this is, and the council needs to know too, before taking any decision"

"Very well, tag along"

The Lynx Lynch got Pradai on his back, but not the back of the Lynx, because only the possessed can get in contact with them, if not, a life will be at stake. It wasn't a problem at all to get Pradai to stay comfortably on his back, grown Meivs were huge and tall compared to humans.

"And you two, you'd better go home" old man Gaius said to Kar and Curl, as he rode off with them, on his quaky- squeaky chariot.

                                           ****

When they reached the Councils chamber, Pradai was skeptical about the whole thing. She thought of running, hiding, or even killing herself to be done with it all.

She was taken inside the chamber, she didn't even realize it until she saw seven hefty, strong and mean-looking Meivs sitting on thrones made with precious stones, and unlike the other Meivs, their ponytails was long that it reached their legs, and their beards were so heavy. Each councilor had a sword which was not only large, but fearful. And on the heads of the swords rested a blue gem stone. They don't use shields, as the blue gem stone acted as a shield too.

And even though these councilors were fearful and mighty, their eyes was as beautiful as the moon light.

After seeing these, the thought of running immediately varnished from Pradai's mind, because she doesn't even have a chance of stepping a foot out, she would be killed immediately, she thought.

The Lynx Lynchs bowed down to the councilors, old man Gaius does the same, but Pradai was still very much lost in thought, so a Lynx Lynch uses his ponytail to make her kneel, and before she could know what was happening, she was kneeling and bowing completely with her whole self.

What made her tremble more was just their voice, it was just as if it pounded on her heart so heavily.

"Speak" said the chief Councilor.

"Three days ago, we noticed that something landed on barren lands. But we couldn't get to it then, we didn't know what it was, but the signals weren't so strong, so we thought it wasn't a threat… "

"You thought it wasn't a threat?"

They dare not apologize to the council, when they made a mistake, for it was in the hands of the council if they would be held accountable for it or not, so the Lynx Lynch continued

"However, we lost contact with one that same day, it was strange. It didn't exist, but it wasn't a false alarm. We tracked it down to this , in the old man Gaius's tree house."

"And what is this?" asked the chief councilor

"A breeder from another plane. She doesn't belong here but she's completely harmless" Gaius answered.

"And how do you know?"

"Because she is pure"

"Pure or not, rules are rules, anything not belonging here is a threat, let's not forget that!"

"But chief…"

"How dare you question my authority?" Said the chief councilor, as two Lynx Lynchs surrounded old man Gaius and held him up, for punishment or better for him, imprisonment. They were about to take him away when Pradai gathered enough courage to say something

"Please don't hurt him, please" they looked at each other in amazement, for some reason this stranger can speak Meivish

"Gaius How is this possible?" Asked the Chief councilor, Gaius didn't say a word, so the Chief motioned them to set him free.

"Speak"

"We ...I found out that she umm, that when in contact with a … she spoke Meivish when I touched her…" Gaius said, being careful with his words and how he use it because he might get into trouble with any slightest mistake.

"We?"

"Yes. Yes, me and her" Gaius defended himself instantly

"It still doesn't change anything Gaius"

"Then look into her heart Chief" Gaius requested that the Chief councilor find out for himself if she is truly pure, harmful, a threat or not.

"She isn't worth it" the Chief replied.

"Then I will take her into my custody, I swear to bore any consequences if it turns out she is a threat, I will take her in, and teach her our ways Chief, I promise to keep eye on her everytime Chief"

"No" said the Chief. Pradai got scared, what would be her fate now? old man Gaius felt sorry for her.

"No?" old man Gaius asked softly and weakly

"No, you shall not bear any consequences, you are loved by our people, so why would you be punished. Whatever it is, even if she turns out to be a threat, we will handle it." The Chief Councilor concluded.

Gaius was so happy and relieved, Pradai felt a depressing weight lifted off her. So Gaius took her away from the chamber.

Upon reaching outside, they found Kar and Curl hanging like rabbits on a Lynx Lynch's arms, apparently they were caught trying to sneak in from the back. Old man Gaius approached him and had him release them, saying he was going to take them home.

"So, it looks like it went well after all" Curl said excitedly

"Yes, and we better be going now" said old man Gaius.

"You two can come over anytime" Pradai told them, smiling.

"Umm we would love to, but we are restricted for now, so no" Curl said, Pradai mood changed

"Is it because of me?"

"No Bye." Kar said dragging Curl away.

Pradai looked at old man Gaius who just shrugged and smiled

"Come on let's go, the hill is your new home, and you better stay within the hill, they don't want to see you lurking around. Just like them, you're restricted. But don't feel bad, it is for the best." And they rode off with old man Gaius's quaky-squeaky chariot.

Kar and Curl were on their way home talking to each other when Kar held Curl's hand

"We were in the Barren lands" Kar said

"I know, that was just the boundary, she didn't land on the Greenlands but the Barren lands" Curl added

"Yes, is a secret, we don't tell anyone about this" said Kar looking straight into Curl's eyes. Curl nodded in agreement.

"And for the Cruk's heart, I hid it in the cave"

"That's too bad" Curl said

"Yes"

"What do we do?" asked Curl, troubled.

"That's the problem, Curl. I don't know".

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   There Is No Plan

As if the morning was also anticipating the big day for Iliya, Peregrin and the ViNenar sà, the youngest squad from the Elvish army. They all got out from the walls of the city to the nearest mountain where their leader briefed them. Only if they knew how much danger they were running right into. Even so, as a leader, Peregrin knew better than anyone else that every little detail matters when it came down to secret missions. Iliya held her sword in her hand, glancing at it like it was the first time she had ever seen it. With a deep sigh, she closed her eyes and brought the sword to her chest. "To be one with one's weapon, one must accept whatever comes with and from it" Peregrin said, approaching Iliya. Iliya opened her eyes and glanced at his squad. "Are they ready?" "Are you?" Peregrin retorted. Iliya didn't answer. She would have to be most nervous. "Of all of us here, you're the one who's afraid the most. And I'm beginning to wonder, perh

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   A Squad For All

Iliya couldn't figure out what to do next, her heart ached but so much so her broken strength and faith. And as she watched the new moon from one of the city tops, hanging on a cliff, memories of Pradai surfaced, flooding in like quick clips in a blue spiral. She smiled as she burst into tears. "I'm sorry, Pradai" She said in tears. She had managed to carry her leg as it was all through it all, pretending that it never existed, but it was apparent and was hurting so much like her heart did. She didn't have to give up, and there was no other option than to find another way, which would need a lot of thinking. Her heart beat was all she heard, since the night was a quiet and peaceful one. But she heard footsteps approaching, on turning around, she caught a young warrior halfway toward her with one of his legs raised up. He smiled sheepishly "Hey, sorry. Didn't mean to creep you out…" "It's okay—" "But what are you doing here?" He mo

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   A Lost Cause

Getting back to old times was divine. Life would be alot better without the worries, pain, the fights and the what nots. It was what she felt and saw standing on the brush of the mountain which descended to the lake below the cave. Prince Drukk walked majestically to her side with a sigh. He wasn't feeling it, he didn't agree to whatever her demand was. But he was even more disappointed when his one and only sister didn't come to see her. "I have missed you, Drukk…" wishing it could change something. "But that's not why you came…" Prince Drukk led his arms behind his back. "What you ask for it's almost impossible" "But I need help. I need to save my friends, please. You can understand that, don't you?" "The only friend I had was you. I can't understand" he replied abruptly. "Then I would have to meet father" iliya stated with a determined grip. "Huh?" Said Prince Drukk, waiting for iliya to realize what she was talking about. "I ne

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   The Road That Leads To Home

The tweeting of the forest birds feeding her ears, and the harmless rays of the sun working wonders on her delicate skin, and the sweet fragrance of the grasses and flowers which pleasured her sense of smell was what waked Iliya. She flicked her eyes open but sun shine smiled into her bright blue eyes and she shut them immediately. So she turned around and opened her eyes to see where she was lying down, it was okay. And when she tried getting up, she then realized that she was really weak and needed an energy boost. She got up regardless at the remembrance of Pradai and what she might be going through at that moment, it gave her enough strength to forge ahead. She staggered her way through the thick unpredictable forest and with each step she made, she held herself so as not to fall down. She threaded like that and after some big time had passed, she came upon a cleared portion in the forest whic

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   On The Way Home

Iliya instructed them to get some strong log of woods and find bush ropes. And in no time, the two young Meivs had Iliya's request granted. And she single-handedly made herself a supporting pillar on her leg.How she did it, they had no idea of, for it seemed like she had some experience before in doing wonders with woodsticks and bush ropes. They saw that she was crafty, and her craft was indeed mastered. It only took Iliya a few moments to set up completely, what she needed to be able to walk by herself. It didn't look less like a clutch, nor did it look much like an artificial leg. The woodsticks were placed seperately and single paced, facing each other and the bush ropes were used to tie them together while making a space in the middle– enough to have her legs comforted by it. The ropes also had an intersection which made the final draw, when she had her legs inside the craft with strong confidentiality.

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   A Reason That Leads To Home

"Wh...what ..do you mean she is in danger?" Iliya asked Curl. It took him a moment to get himself together, he sat right."She is fighting some, umm I didn't see it very well, but she is not in a good spot right now, she is probably fighting or , whatever. All I know is that she is in danger."We should go look for her! We can't leave her by herself!" Iliya trembled."Cool down, you can't do anything much in this condition" Little Ben said to Iliya."But I think she can take care of herself , right? She killed a Cruk, and two Lynx Lynchs, who else can do that?" Little Ben added , looking at both of them, but nothing was helping Iliya's feelings, nothing was helping, because she was still panicking."Come on, we are talking about Pradai here. Whoever she is fighting against, I am sure she will be fine… right? …Curl say something… is there something else you are not telling us?"&

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   Now You Got What You Wanted

"So, the day is finally over?" Little Ben said as he climbed down from tbe tree with a bunch of fruits in his hands."No, is Just getting started, silly" Curl said with a hiss.Little Ben handed some fruits to Iliya who was sitting down on the ground, enjoying the feels of the grasses, and the cool and soothing wind from the trees."Boss, aren't we going to eat meat tonight?""You know where to get them, don't you?""Aish, you do your thing best.""We will manage the remaining meat inside until tomorrow. I just want to rest. Now, we should be going back inside before someone sees us"."Ouch, just a little time mm? I like the fresh air" Iliya pleaded."I wish but we have stayed here for many hours, we can't risk getting captured. Besides there's enough air inside…""I know, but the view and everything, you don't get it inside.""That's not a proble

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   Betrayer Or Worst

Kar was under the protection of Pradai, and even though the Lynx Lynchs wanted nothing but to make a mess of him for betraying them—so they thought. They would have to go through Pradai first. And the said demon obviously wouldn't have a problem making a mess of them."I'm tired of fighting, but trust me, this demon and this beast is never tired of sucking blood, and absorbing the living out of you beings! Now I will only warn you this once, go away from here, or you won't even have the chance to regret it!"The two Lynx Lynchs looked at each other, eager to fight till their last drop of blood themselves, still they were facing a supposed stronger opponent."Fine then!" Yelled one of the Lynx Lynchs as he attacked first, with all the strength and power he had, and at that first strike, he was able to give Pradai a fatal blow that knocked her down to the ground!. The rusted leaves on the ground were blown away by her fall, and the L

  • Fated To The Elf Princess   Detain The Danger

The two Meivs who ran away from Pradai found their way to the Councilors chamber. They ran inside and bowed down to the Councilors, shaking in fear and breathing profusely like wounded bears. Apparently they had been finding it hard to tell anyone of their encounter because it was something they have not seen before, a Lynx Lynch killed just in a matter of minutes. It was something their minds and hearts had to debate because the water being poured into the strong golden cup was breaking the gold itself."Speak" said the Chief councilor reluctantly, he didn't care about what their faces said, only what their mouth confessed."Another Lynx Lynch has been killed""What!!? Wait another Lynx Lynch? Who did this? Why aren't their reports?! Who did this! Who dares!?is it the Thogwarts? Who?! " Asked the Chief councilor raging in anger, but with sprinkles of doubts and atoms of confusion—the possibility wasn't possible."The human"
