Chapter 5: Requesting a favor

**Alpha Derrick's POV**

I sat on my bed, a glint of happiness in my eyes as I gazed about. Mona enabled me to make the best decision possible tonight by rejecting Kimberly Fray. Alpha Darwin will be unable to retain his leadership position as long as he has a rejected daughter. I will ensure that I remain the most heinous Alpha in this city as long as there is no one to oppose me.

I laughed slightly as I pondered how much I'd accomplished in the little time since ascending to the position of Night Walker Alpha. My father died seven years ago, and I continue to support him in developing his pack's objectives.

He never desired that any other pack control us, and it is also the legacy I want to leave. Whatever it takes, we will always be at the top. The Night Walkers would continue to strike dread into their adversaries' hearts and thoughts!

"Hahahahahahaha!!!"

I was so engrossed in my laughter that I didn't even notice when one of my followers entered the area where I was sitting. "Please forgive my apologies for intruding your privacy, my lord; someone from the neighbouring city has arrived to see you." He spoke in a terrified tone, his chin buried in his chest.

I tilt my head gently to observe Jackson, one of my most ardent disciples. He's been with me for years and is a devout member of the Night Walkers pack, despite his origins being from a separate pack. Only he has the power to access my rooms at will, but that does not mean he does so regularly.

"I would join him shortly. You may go at this moment." I murmured and made hand gestures for Jackson to leave.

"Alright, my lord!" Jackson reacted immediately and then exited the room. I jumped to my feet instantly and walked outside to welcome my visitor. Knowing who had come, I no longer needed to waste time in my chambers.

When I entered the pack house's waiting room, everyone, including the one who had been waiting for me, immediately bowed their heads in reverence for my presence.

"How is the Lock's Heart Pack doing at the moment?" I asked the man in front of me, focusing my attention on him. He is the son of the Locks Heart pack's current Alpha but has sworn his allegiance to me and no one else.

Oliver had shown a desire in becoming the pack's Alpha, but his father, Alpha Kelly, had continually obstructed him. Alpha Kelly was always warning his son that someone else would take over and that they would not last long. On the other side, Oliver has never approved of his father's decision and desires exclusive possession of the position.

"Everything is proceeding according to plan, my lord. After the next full moon, you will be allowed to wage war against our pack and murder my father." Oliver mumbled softly beneath his breath, a determined expression on his face. I saw a flash of bitterness in his eyes as he spoke. He is just concerned with seizing control of the Alpha position at the moment, and he needs my support in doing so.

"That's OK, Oliver; I get what you're saying! I hope you're prepared for the shock of seeing your father lying in a pool of blood."

"I have no regrets about soliciting your assistance in emancipating myself from my father's life. He is much too fragile and aged to be our pack's leader. The time has come for me to step in before the previous Alpha decides to return!"

"Good! Then I'll gladly support you..."

"My lord, I am in no way worthy of your charity." Oliver's voice sounded joyful as he spoke.

"You are now free to go, Oliver!"

"Perfect, my lord." Oliver made a U-turn and exited from the pack house. As soon as he left, Jackson approached me and said, "my lord, are you sure you want to support Oliver in assuming his father's position?" Jackson questioned, his voice anxious.

"Yes, it is my intention. Given that Alpha Kelly is not yet willing to submit to us, Oliver is the greatest candidate to lead their pack after I help him in becoming the Alpha."

"However, my lord, what if Oliver later abandons you? He can think of murdering his father only based on his position, and hence I feel he is capable of anything, even assassinating you, my lord."

"Hmmm, Jackson, you don't seem to be aware of my current activities. Oliver's duty will be terminated immediately upon assumption of the position." I gently patted his shoulder and smiled at him. "Be prepared for mayhem after my three-day engagement!" I chuckle and continue pacing away...

~Kimberly's POV~

The next morning!

I was awakened by the buzzing sound of an alarm clock near my bed. I rubbed the corners of my eyes and stretched my arms as I lifted myself off the mattress.

"Where has he gone?" I murmured as my lips gradually opened and my eyes widened in disbelief at what had occurred. I become utterly immobile, unable to move in any direction. 'Where could he possibly be?' While I sat motionless on the mattress, staring at the bottle of wine on the floor, the question sprang into my mind.

When I pushed myself to rise, I took a few steps back due to the numbness throughout my body. I was under the effect of alcohol last night, and as a result, I had no idea how many times he laid down with me until we fell asleep. However, I must say that I enjoyed my time with him.

"Kimberly, you are such an idiot! You had no idea what his name was!" In shame, I sigh and carefully touch the back of my neck. How could I have neglected to inquire about his name before we engaged in some nefarious activity the other night? Without a doubt, I am an absolute moron.

I was deep in thought and didn't notice I was entirely naked until I glanced down at my dress on the floor next to the wine bottle. "My Gosh!" I scooped up the white dress and immediately put it on. I returned to check the alarm, which was still set to snooze and saw it was now past six a.m.

Nobody would be discovered outside the pack house at this time in any way. As a result, this is the optimal time for me to enter the residence undetected. My heels were lifted off the floor and clasped in my fingers. Because I can bring attention to myself when I wear it, I choose to retain it in my hands.

I took one more look around the basement just before I departed to ensure there was no evidence of anybody in there. As I stepped out of the door, I gently closed it behind me and proceeded on tiptoe to the packhouse's main entrance.

I made a point of surveying the area around me to ascertain whether I was being followed. Fortunately, no one is around.

As I prepared to enter the cabin, someone grabbed my wrist from behind, and I came to a halt in horror...
