Chapter 7: Bad news

As she delicately touches my shoulder, she says something calming in a low voice. "Wake up, Kimberly!" I gradually opened my eyes by rubbing them with both hands.

Many things have changed in the last few years, and the hospital room now resembles a garden. The roof is transparent, creating the feeling that you are outdoors. The bed is still made of metal, but technology has advanced so much.

The bed looks to be bamboo, warm and rustic to the touch and sight. When the first pilot hospital adopted this, there was a lot of debate about how expensive it would be, but the results spoke for themselves. Stays are shorter, recovery is quicker, and depression is non-existent.

When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see Louis and Hannah seated near me. I was lying still on the bed, pains all over my body.

"How do you feel, Kim?" Hannah inquired, her entire face lighted up with worry.
