Chapter Thirty Six

Theo's POV

Three days it takes Lilith to master calling upon the elements... three days of night sweats and nightmares to accompany that too.

Her dreams contain memories of dark days, pain and degradation.

She does not have a clue what she is remembering but it seems that as her power grows so does mine because I only have to look at her to see the memory I desire.

So at night whilst she is sleeping I practise myself.

Last night I lay here with her in my arms as she sleeps fitfully.

I think about her childhood. Imagining a small four or five-year-old version of Lilith.

Memories start to flood but unfortunately, they give me nothing of what I expected.

No, they are all shrouded in darkness whilst being forever hungry and thirsty exactly as Luca’s had been.

Sometimes she has company, other small children surrounding her all crying out of fear of the darkness and sometimes she is alone and frightened beyond any words I can describe.
