Chapter 17 Threatened

(Amber's POV)

I let out a slow, shaky breath as I watched the rigid back of Ryan leave through the doorway, acutely aware of the beads of sweat trickling down my back.

I couldn't believe that had just happened. If Ryan ever found out that I had betrayed him I was terrified about what he might do to me.

I only hoped that he didn't antagonize my father too much because my mothers life hung in the balance. If he decided to blame me for any offense that Ryan caused, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he wouldn't hesitate in killing my mother.

I paced nervously in my room for a while, the anxiety wrapping its cruel fingers around my heart as I tried not to chew a hole into the inside of my cheek.
