Raven

I bit my tongue as I stepped out of the van and looked at the mansion. As many terrible memories as I’d had in my old home, seeing it burned to the ground had felt like someone taking one of my limbs. I wanted to burn this mansion down and see if the Alpha King felt the same way.

I doubted it. I doubted he could feel anything at all.

This was pathetic. A forced mating selection? Absolutely ridiculous.

He and I had already mated. We knew who our Fated Mates were. Was this his attempt to find another mate?

He was insane if he thought that would happen. Especially since I was here among the she-wolves forced into the selection ceremony.

I loathed the idea of seeing his smug, cruel face again. I wanted to spit on it.

On the bright side, I already knew he didn’t want anything to do with me. He would see me, and then order me to return to exile with my rogue family.

I just had to keep my composure until then and play along if I didn’t want to get hurt.

The man who had escorted us from

RavenLexi considered me for a moment, as though she was trying to determine if I was toying with her.“Just like that?” she asked, scrutinizing me up and down. “You’d give up the potential chance of being the Luna?”“Yes,” I said without hesitation. I held up my hand and emphasized each point with my fingers.“The Alpha King killed our father in front of me; he killed my mother; he threw me out when I was pregnant! He – “ I felt myself choke at the memory of being a hungry rogue and his warriors nearly killing me. I swallowed, continuing.“He’s a beast,” I snarled. “I want nothing to do Marcus Hayes.”Lexi stared at me strangely, lips pursed. She didn’t seem to breathe for a moment.“I want to leave this place,” I said quietly after a moment of silence. “I just want to go somewhere where I’m accepted and can live my life normally. Nothing more.”“Okay,” Lexi said breathily, nodding repeatedly. She smiled at me then, eyes still tinged with that feral bite she’d had just a moment ago.

  • Fated to My Enemy   #Chapter14 - A Tense Compromise

RavenNo no no no no! He had to have felt that shock, there was no way he could ignore it now!He must have felt the jolt and the shudder of my body against his skin. His wolf would demand taking me again, just like it had six years ago. If that happened, it would be nearly impossible to resist the primal desire of our bodies. If he realized I was his mate, he’d never let me go back to Grant and the other rogues. I’d be stuck here, forced to succumb to the will of the Alpha King for the rest of my life. However, as I looked up at him, eyes wide and fearful, no recognition flashed across his face. In fact, he didn’t react at all. He just stared at me, eyes glinting with annoyance and lip curled slightly upwards.Did he really not feel the electricity pulsing under his skin like I did?I’d thought perhaps he hadn’t been able to recognize my scent as his mate, and that had been why he hadn’t recognized our bond. But could it be that he truly couldn’t sense it? Even when we touched?I cou

  • Fated to My Enemy   #Chapter13 - The Things We Do For Children

Raven“Sadie that’s not–”“Absolutely not–”Marcus and I spoke at the same time. We both closed our mouths just as quickly and breathed in harsh breaths, as though we were mirror images of each other. Our eyes met, and we each had the same impatient, wide eyes. The amber in his eyes blazed like wildfire. Most would cower under their scrutiny. I wasn’t afraid, though.I started right back.“Sadie,” he began again, still looking at me as he spoke his daughter’s name. Finally, he dragged his eyes to the girl, kneeling to hold her little hand. “I have to find my fated mate sweetie, it can’t just be anyone you like.”“Why?” she asked, cocking her head to the side.“Because it’s what my wolf needs,” he explained.“Why?”“That’s just the way wolves are. You’ll understand when you’re older.”“But why?” she pushed. He hesitated, but I spoke first.“Because your daddy and I don’t get along very well,” I said in a flat tone. I crossed my arms, lips pressed into a thin line.Marcus’s fiery eyes f

  • Fated to My Enemy   #Chapter12 - Pretty Princess Power Dance

RavenAs the little girl wrapped her arms around me, my heart felt weak, like it couldn’t beat in time properly. My lip quivered, and I swallowed thickly to try and keep a straight face. She was so small, with kinky auburn hair and freckles covering her cheeks. Her eyes were a brilliant green color, like looking into a shard of seaglass. She smiled, and several of her front teeth were missing. She couldn’t have been more than six. Just like my baby would’ve been.Though my heart ached, I knelt down, smiling gently at the girl. She was obviously lost and confused – she’d thought a stranger wandering down the halls was her mother, after all.“Hi there,” I said, voice cracking. I cleared my throat before saying, “What’s your name?”“I’m Sadie!” the girl said, reaching her arms up high and spreading her fingers wide, like she was imitating a little star. “I’m six years old and my favorite color is purple and my favorite animal is a horse and –”I laughed, her vibrant energy contagious.“P

  • Fated to My Enemy   #Chapter11 - She-Wolves

RavenHis words echoed through my mind, and I couldn’t help it as I blinked, long and hard, before looking up at him again.Did I have a mate? Those eyes searched mine, hot and desperate. He seemed so honestly confused. Was he serious? The mark was a circle with a half-circle under it. The half-circle had a perpendicular line running through it, which was crossed by another, smaller line.I’d read enough history books to know it was an ancient symbol for Pluto. I’d tried to keep it hidden ever since it had appeared on my collarbone six years ago after we’d been intimate. Otherwise, everyone would know I was mated to someone from the Pluto Pack – or someone descendant from Pluto Pack.If he was asking…did he not realize what the symbol represented? He obviously knew that a female werewolf developed a mark on their collarbone after she was claimed by her fated mate. But for some reason, he thought this mark was from another male.Something wasn’t adding up. I’d been certain he’d known w

  • Fated to My Enemy   #Chapter10 - Revenge, Just An Inch Away

RavenHe was there. He was right there. Perhaps it was the blood and bits of bone still in my mouth from the guard’s wrist. Perhaps it was the feral adrenaline still pounding through my veins from fighting for my life.Or perhaps it was just seeing him. Six years hadn’t dimmed my hatred. It had honed it, like a blade whose steel was folded over and over again to make it stronger, sharper. My mother’s face flashed before my eyes, her sweet smile and her soft eyes. My baby’s face I had never been allowed to see, the one I’d seen in dreams and nightmares again and again, flashed next to hers. She held my pup, and together, they screamed as claws raked through them.Marcus Hayes. It was because of him. It was all his fault! He’d given me hope when I’d thought I’d been hopeless, and then he showed me what true hopelessness was like. And he’d smiled while he was doing it.I’d fantasized about this moment so often during the first years of my exile. I’d imagined how it would feel to kick hi
