Chapter twenty four

Ashlyn's POV

The night had become darker and the smokes that had risen from the fallen walls of Dunbar smothered away.

We headed back to Glasgow. I had heard Lucifer talking to Kill about rebuilding the city in coming months and then making it a residence for the less privileged.

I wondered why he did not just kill the warlord king alone and let the people live if he still wanted the city standing. Was he afraid that they'll form a coup and try to eliminate him?

With Lucifer, no one could understand how he thinks.

He was seated beside me in the carriage later on as the coach rode away and the smell of death still hanging in the air. Looking outside the carriage, I saw the scavengers of both the night and day circling the air. This was their moment.

I stared down at my hand and saw the fairly burnt flesh and I sighed again hoping it will heal soon.
