Chapter twenty three

Ashlyn's POV

For the first time in my newly miserable life, relief washed over me when I saw Lucifer standing at the entrance door.

I was shocked to see two hearts beside him and then, the ringing of the bells outside. The screams made me realized they had succeeded in getting into the strongholds of Dunbar and it reminded me of when my town was taken too.

The warlord king stared at me as his eyes slowly darkened. "You brought this upon me? I should have known a woman would be my downfall one day!" He said and reached for his sword that hinged at his waist.

I swallowed. He was about to kill me!

Just as if Lucifer read his intention, he fired another arrow, hitting him right on his leg. He groaned in pain. His guards started trooping in and they all charged at Lucifer.

I expected him to transform but he did not. Instead, his eyes were pure golden and without much efforts, he took the guards down.
