Chapter 16

When they approached their room, Phil proceeded to open the door using the keycard that he had previously inserted into the slot. He cast a cursory glance in every direction, expressing appreciation for the drapes that helped to darken the room.

"Nice place." Gwen repressed a yawn while she waited for Phil to lock the door, and then she entered the bedroom after he did.

Phil remarked, "I don't want you to leave the room," as he set the suitcases down on the flat wooden bench that was located at the foot of the bed. "I'm sorry." "Not in any way, shape, or form. Understand?”

Gwen acknowledged this with a nod before hurriedly donning her nightgown and climbing under the covers. After another five minutes, she had fallen asleep.

Phil quickly disrobed before climbing into bed next to her and lying down. He kept his eyes on her until the dawn broke, and then he ran blindly into the abyss of forgetfulness.
