“Ahhhh…” Zora screamed as she woke up with a start. Sia closed her mouth with her hand and looked at Ron nervously.
She let out a sigh of relief when Ron kept sleeping soundly.
“You almost had me killed,” Sia whispered to Zora.
Zora was still disoriented from being woken up suddenly. She just kept staring at Sia.
“Are you alright?” Sia asked looki
Sia’s ears perked up as she heard the footsteps approaching, Thud! Thud! Thud!..... She peeked from the side of the pile. Soon, Mr. Ben came into view. He wasn’t alone. Two probots flanked him on either side. They looked quite lethal unline the ones she remembered seeing at her house, as a child. “You can come out, Sia. There is no use hiding behind the pile of boxes.” His voice boomed in the room. Sia started and accidentally hit the box in front of her. It fell to the floor with a thud
“That is it? It was no fun at all. I wanted to toy around a little more.” Mr. Ben said with mock anger. He was gloating inside. He let out a deep sigh and said, “Okay, set her down.” Sia fell on her knees the moment she was released. A sharp pain shot through her arms as the circulation of blood returned to her arms. She scrambled to her feet and said weakly, “I am ready to sign the documents. But, what will I get in return?”
Sia had used her PCID to incapacitate Mr. Ben. She pulled the device in his hand and moved backward. She had only taken a few steps when a large cage fell on him from the ceiling, trapping him inside. Sia tapped another icon on the CID and a beam of light hit him. the next moment Mr. Ben fell to the ground. Jay, Yorick, and Ron were busy trying to form a plan. So, they had not seen Sia approach Mr. Ben. They looked up only on hearing the sound of the cage falling on the floor.
Jay and Yorick struggled for a while against the Probots but they soon realized that it was absolutely useless. They were just exhausting themselves. After that they kept quiet, awaiting their fate in anticipation. They had to shield their eyes from the blinding light, when the walls slid into the floor. Their eyes adjusted in a while and they found themselves in a huge room that extended endlessly in all directions. Everything was white; the walls, the floor, even the ceiling. This made everything appear extremely bright. The second Probot that had tagged along, tapped a button on its arm.
Sia was sitting in a huge room whose walls were covered with numerous screens. “Jojo, stream the footage from Sentinel Islands.” She commanded the Probot, the only one she had brought here. “Yes, ma'am.” It replied in a mechanical voice and got to work. Its hands flew across the light board as it punched in a series of codes. Soon, the island came into view. Sia checked the market, The library, and even homes. She felt a dull ache in her heart when she saw Wrick do some shopping in the m
“Didn’t Mr. Ben say that he had killed the alien?” jay asked Yorick. “Yes, he did but apparently he wasn’t being truthful.”“Jojo, I am going to free the man inside. You are not allowed to attack him, even if he tries to harm me.” “ Sia, what is wrong with you? This is not Ron. He is a dangerous Viridian! Even if you want to free him, you shouldn’t command the Probot to not attack him.” Yorick said in an anxious voice.
Jay kept quiet after the threat. Sia replayed the footage from the beginning.Yorick sat up straight when he saw the warning bell go off in the footage. His eyes popped out of the socket when he saw the message displayed on the screen with the warning.“Damn! This can’t have happened!”“It did Yorick. It did. If it was not for your clone detecting system I would have never figured it out.“Wait! What you both are trying to say is that Ron is a clone…”“Yes, Jay. The man who was with us was not Ron but his clone. The man we rescued from the cell today is the real Ron.”“No ways, Don’t believe her Yorick. She is toying us. I can’t sit here and listen to any more of your crap!” Jay said and got up from the chair.“I will explain everything with evidence, Jay. Please listen to me.” Sia begged but he stormed out of the room.Yorick grasped Sia’s hand and said, “I believe you, Sia. Jay is just in denial. He will
Ron woke up and tried to sit but he felt too weak to do so. He opened and closed his fists and was relieved when he was able to do so freely. They had finally taken off those stupid clamps. He moaned and turned to his left side. His eyes fell on Sia who had dozed off on the chair. She looked like an angel in her sleep. She didn’t just look like an angel. She was the angel who had kept him adrift in the most difficult times. It was only her memories that kept him sane while he was being tortured. He was ma
