MasukMy mind was alive, but my body couldn’t move; if I had this hope holding on tight to me, then I would have to fight for a second chance. It didn’t feel surreal; I felt my legs move, and then my hand followed. The sea wanted to take me deeper, but I kept struggling. I wasn’t going to give up now. I prayed for a second chance; how many more battles do I have to fight before I am granted my wish?
Don’t take me!! No!!
“Please grant me a second chance, help me please”!
I screamed, or no, my mind did, because I didn’t hear any sound, but my will was stronger than anything holding me down; then there was a spark coming from underneath; I felt every energy from below the surface; it engulfed my body, soul, and mind. I couldn’t keep up with it, but it filled my body with strength, this time different; it wasn’t a natural strength a werewolf could have; it was much deeper, stronger, and heavier.
What is happening?
The different faces, cries, sobs, screams, laughs, cries, all the emotions a powerful being has encountered strike my vision, then the chants came, the curses, the tricks, I heard every one of them, the writings, they gathered from one to two, joining and colliding, how was I able to understand these languages.
The visions got clearer, a little girl ran towards a temple, and a harsh voice followed,
“Do not step in, for it is forbidden!”
Quickly, she turned, and her eyes, piercing blue eyes, her smiles so innocent, ran away from the temple.
Flashes kept coming, enchantments and powers engulfed me, the sounds of war, the cries of innocent hearts, and it kept coming.
Only a witch could do all these.
A force pulled me out almost too quickly; I felt like the air came rushing to my nostrils. I could feel my body against the wall; there were noises, banging and screaming over these walls, the sounds of men and women, the clatter of chains, and screams.
Opening my eyes to see my hands locked in chains, stares directed at me, questioning eyes, and confused looks, even though I didn’t opt out of it.
“Where is this place”? I looked around, I was locked up in a stanching, old prison with people, new faces
“Where I’m I”? Screaming at the top of my voice to their confused faces
“She’s awake now, please come take this witch out of here before she kills us all” another voice beckoned on a guard
“Who are you to call me a witch, you fool!” I hollered at him, scared
Two guards surged in, and unlocked the gates, took a few strides toward me; I was frantic: who were all these people? What is this power I feel? Who am I?
“Don’t you dare touch me”! I pointed my hands but the chains were too heavy to keep up, I fell on the ground, the powers made me feel weak, I couldn’t withhold them, still unsettled, I felt dizzy but I wasn’t going to give in to that feeling, what if these people kill me in my unconsciousness.
“Let’s take her to the Lycan” One of them pointed out
With a nod from the other, giving me no chance to protest, I was picked from the floor like a weightless being
I was taken to a different quarter; it looked more like wealth and power, so much richness; the walls were so smooth I could see my face, my golden hair, and my blue eyes reflected on them.
We passed through big gates and large doors, and every section defined wealth.
There was a halt when we approached a door, it was different from every other one.
“We are here with the witch” One of the guards spoke as he knocked subtly, bent his head
But why do they keep referring to me as a “witch”
“What if they kill me?”
“Come in” a strong voice echoed
I took a few steps once the door opened. I was frightened, scared, and I couldn’t move; the guards didn’t follow, “why?”
I felt a push from behind and fell on the floor, raising them to behold the office of a real powerful king, from the heads hanging around that had decayed, they must have been here for almost centuries, the gigantic bookshelves, full of ancient books, the large table and chairs.
A figure was standing a few paces from me but moved immediately after I entered.
Taking a few strides towards me, fear gripped my feet; I couldn’t raise my legs to move; his green eyes, it was power, wealth, and dominion that swept through him; his blonde hair carefully brushed against his green eyes, making it even more tempting to touch.
I gulped as he kept coming closer to me, this time he was so close I could feel his scent, again power it exuded, I forgot all sense of control, amidst being scared, I couldn’t help but admire such beauty of a man, perfectly sculptured body, a god to be worshipped by all ladies he could come by.
“Who are you?” His voice came in a hush
I jolted as this question snapped me back to life; stepping backward, I had to clear my thoughts, and as fear sipped in, I resolved to fidget against my fingers.
Who was I?
My thoughts ran wild and near; the powers were now settled in, but I couldn’t make meaning of anything; I tried making the visions come back, but they were blurry; the voices came in, but they felt distant.
“I do not know” My lips gave in
A tear trickled down my cheeks; how could someone be so powerful and still not know the nature of its existence? No identity, no name, nobody to call my own?
His rage was so evident in his look, and my fears only climbed to the climax; how could I ever survive in this place?
“I found you in the ancient temple of the witches, it is a forbidden place but I couldn’t avoid going in there because I felt something calling unto me, when I saw you scared, shaking in fear, your blue eyes calling unto me, I couldn’t resist, so I picked you up and took you as my prisoner. Something happened and before we got here you were already unconscious, although I was advised to kill you immediately after you awakened seeing you, innocent and lost, obviously can’t recall a thing about yourself, I’ll take you in and make you mine, my mate”, he declared, looking down at me in the most lustful way.
Take me in? My mate? A mate to the Lycan King? Fear gripped me, confusion set in
He was an attractive man, I’d say irresistible and sexy with his commanding power, body, and wealth; even though I didn’t know who I was, I’m sure I couldn’t resist him, but even with fear, I had to survive in a place of uncertainty.
“Yes, take me in” I answered
He moved closer, much closer this time. We could feel each other's breath; his chest rubbed my bosom, and so much sensation washed down my body, but I kept my demon under control as he did his.
“I have my rules and you have to live by them, don’t ever try disobeying me you owe me your life and if you go contrary, maybe I’ll listen to my elder advice”
I nodded in fear, and he saw what his voice and dominion did to me; a mischievous smile escaped his lips.
“Now, right after this, I’ll assign you to a maid, your room will be prepared and you’ll freshen up and join me for dinner with my pack, I have to introduce you as my mate” He fixated on my bosom, his needs purging out of him, as his hands traced my neck to my cheek.
I kept silent
“My rules are simple, don’t make it seem difficult, you’ll stay with me and satisfy my needs as my mate, you must be willing to remain my mistress and not desire more than that, you must keep your body for only me, you have no right to claim any child you birth as they all belong to me”
His eyes had changed, and fear engulfed me as he held on to both my arms and squeezed my flesh; I flinched in pain. Is this the way he treats a woman, talking more about his mate?
“Now, go change up and freshen up.” He left the office in haste before a maid stepped in, bowed head. I had to catch my breath as tears trickled down my cheeks; what is this I have gotten myself into? His attractiveness has made me accept only to see the real devil he is, but he mentioned he saved my life. Maybe there’s some sort of goodness in him still.
“We are ready to take you to your room and serve you ” A voice behind me interrupted my thoughts
I nodded and followed suit. Indeed this place was heavenly even though it still had its ancient roots.
Immediately after dinner, I ran to my room and folded up on the huge bed. I had eaten alone because he didn’t show up, the guards had said he was in a meeting and he said to meet me later at night.
“Is it already time for the demon to claim me?” I couldn’t close my eyes, scared and indecisive on what to do next, who would save me from the clutches of this devil.
Moments later, I heard the door knob open, steps approached me and as it got closer I cursed myself for falling into the hands of the devil, closing my eyes tight while clutching the pillows, this had to be all a dream, everything that has happened, the fear gripped me, why can’t my powers help me now.
He bent closer to my neck, sniffing every bit of me as I inhaled his scent, Was this the devil or the glorious angel I had admired once? He kept tracing his hands down to my belly; I shut my eyes tighter and let everything stop already. Just as he was about to dip his hands into me, I screamed and stood up swiftly, but he was stronger, and as if he was ready for this moment more than I was; strong hands gripped me and tightened my flesh.
I couldn’t stop screaming, and he tried to shut my mouth by covering my lips but I struggled, I had to, but this didn’t work for long as the last thing I saw were his big hands hittingting my face so hard, it felt bizarre for moments as I drifted into dizziness, dark and weakly, I lay in his arms. Helpless and weak.
Silence filled the room right after his voice echoed off the walls. She's my fucking mate. The words hung in the air, heavy. Karl's chest rose and fell rapidly, his claws unsheathed as he stared at Rieka's pale face. The fear in her eyes should have satisfied him as he has seen that look from countless enemies but tonight, it only burned him from inside. Rieka's lips trembled as she tried to find her voice. “Mate?” She whispered hoarsely, clutching her dress. “You… you said you'd never take another mate after…” “Don't mention her name,” He snapped, moving away from her. The ghost of Uriel's scream clawed at his skull, louder than before. Every night, he saw her burning, her eyes locked on his, filled with fear and disappointment. Her cries becoming louder. He slammed his fist into the wall, creating a hole in the wall. “Get out, Rieka. Before I forget the reason I kept you alive.” Rieka flinched. “Karl, what…” “I said out!” He growled, his voice laced with the deadly aut
Rey pulled the cloak tightly around her shoulders as she followed Maren through the dense woods. The sound of distant howls echoed faintly behind them, too far to be threatening, yet close enough to remind of the dangers ahead of her as she was crossing the enemy lines.“Keep your head down” Maren whispered, “The northern patrol changes shift every one hour and it's almost an hour since I left the pack. Once we pass the border into the pack, no one must know I helped you.”Rey nodded silently. Her heart pounded loudly, her thoughts drifting back to the past. Once, these woods had been her home. Now she walked into them as a stranger with so much caution, stripped of her name, her face. When the both of them finally slipped past the border mark. Maren pressed a hand to her chest and muttered a silent prayer. She turned to her slightly with a smile on her lips. “Welcome back… to the Ember pack,”Rey's throat tightened. Welcome back. That word carried a lot of weight. By dawn, the scen
The northern border of the Ember pack was tranquil. Don narrowed his eyes, his wolf pacing within him as the faint sound of rustling leaves teased his ears. He had sensed movement, swift, purposeful, yet cautious, as though whoever it was didn’t want to be seen. His grip on his sword tightened. For a moment, he thought he saw the outline of a figure slipping through the mist that clung to the treeline. The shape was faint, but familiar in a way that made his chest tighten. His wolf growled low, unsettled. It can’t be… Don blinked, but when his gaze sharpened again, the figure was gone, swallowed by the shadows. “Who the hell was that?” he muttered under his breath, his jaw tightening as unease crept into his gut. He didn’t move immediately, knowing that sometimes chasing ghosts only led to traps. Instead, he lingered, his instincts torn between pursuit and caution. Whoever it was, he hadn’t been expecting them. The northern wind howled, carrying with it a faint scent that sti
Karl sat at the head of the table, his sharp features set in a mask full of authority and dominance. The pack elders sat on either side of the long table. The council chamber was cold and tense, despite the warmth of the fire. They looked at one another, their gazes shifted, suspicious and calculating. One of them finally spoke, voice low and steady, careful with words. “Alpha Karl, whispers are growing louder. The pack members are asking too many questions. They wonder if your rise to power, I mean the throne was… natural.” Karl's jaw tightened, his fist clenched, but he forced himself to lean back casually in his chair. “My rise to power was according to the law of the pack. You elders made me the next alpha after my father's health deteriorated because of my brother's death. The throne was left in need of a strong hand and I was chosen.”The elder’s eyes flicked down to the table, where several others shifted uncomfortably. “Yes, we made you alpha because the pack cannot be wi
The morning light cast long shadows as the birds tweet into the quiet dawn. Underneath the trees and mist, Uriel knelt by a stream, scrubbing the blood and ash from her trembling hands. The cold crept through her, slowly and steady. She didn't resist. It was better than numbness.Lowell laid in silence behind her, sleeping a restless and fevered sleep in the abandoned cabin close to the northern border of Ember’s pack, his wounds showing little signs of healing. She could feel the stillness in the air. The clock was running down.Uriel hasn’t slept in almost twenty-four hours and it was obvious in her eyes. Her body felt sore. Despite feeling very tired, her mind wouldn't calm down and the baby in her stirred restlessly as if sensing her discomfort, reacting to every step she took.Lowell’s condition is getting better. He rested on an old sleeping mat in a shadowed corner of the cabin. She had done everything she could, but she could feel her strength was fading away. Every breath sh
Ralph stood at the center of the ruined chamber, the torn curtains fluttering in the damn wind. Her scent was gone. Vanished. Silence gripped the guards as they bowed, fear written in every rigid line of their bodies.“Tell me,” Ralph said “how the hell a pregnant witch slipped past two dozens of guards and an enchanted perimeter”The captain of the palace guard, a seasoned warrior named Orren, swallowed hard. “There was… no forced entry or exit, my king. No scents or spells were discovered. We are still searching..”“Time is not a luxury we have, start searching the borders of the nearest packs.” Ralph snarled.Glass shards bit into his fingers and palm, drawing thin lines of red. Crimson drops, too close to blood, splattered across his white robe. She was gone. His Luna. His future. His redemption. The woman who hunted his dreams even before he knew her face. The one who made him feel… real. And now she has vanished, taking with her the child that was his. He moved away from
