"I'm not getting married"

The bustling house packed with guests suddenly went quiet, everyone turned to look at me.

The guests were mostly people from my Parent's social circle and Michael planning this rushed marriage.

"What did you just say?" My Dad's brows pulled tight

"I... I don't think I want to get married" My voice was barely above a whisper

Mum stood up with a strained smile "She's speaking like this because she's nervous. I assure you all that Lanarai is super excited about this marriage"

"But I..."

"It's getting late. We'll meet in church tomorrow for the wedding" Dad announced dismissing everyone before I could continue, everyone filtered out leaving just my Parents and Michael in the living room. Michael had this smile plastered on his face, I expected him to get angry.

"You should be grateful that someone is still willing to commit to you even after learning of your shameful history "

"She's just a young girl, don't be too hard on her. The lord forgives us, who are we not to forgive her" Michael walked over and rubbed my shoulders .

I moved away from him like his hands were hot oil sizzling my skin "Don't touch me. It's not okay for me to send letters but it's okay for you to marry someone three times younger?"

My Dad slapped me, hard "How dare you question the word instead of repenting?. Go to your room now."

My eyes watered and my cheek stung so bad.

Dad's tone left no room for argument, as I made my way to my room, I heard Michael mediating on my behalf and apologising to my Parents for my behaviour.

During the late hours of the night, Nyrah sneaked into my room while others prepared intently for the next day.

"Are you alright " She asked pulling me into a hug before I could answer.

I cried into her shoulder "Maybe I should never have sent those letters"

"It's not your fault Lana, you were just too curious about things and you find Solace in those letters" She said patting my back, i managed to find my voice after over five minutes of crying "I.. I don't want to marry him. I love Noah, I can't imagine myself being with someone else. I already promised myself to him"

"So it's Noah Thorne"  Mum's voice came from the opened door.

My face went pale immediately as mum stepped into the room.

"Nyrah dear, can you excuse us for a minute?"

Nyrah and I exchanged that dread filled glance before she left the room. Mum shut the door immediately, I thought she was going to strick me but she was oddly calm.

"So it's Noah" She repeated with a sarcastic laugh "silly girl. You think Noah who's enjoying the wealth and fame of being a top lawyer will come back here for you?"

"He promised to come back for me" I said as hopeless tears streamed down my face "And I promised to wait for him"

"Clearly you know nothing about how life works" She laughed "Be a good girl and get married tomorrow. Noah is certainly just using you, he'll never come for you"

"And don't try to act smart with me, I know Nyrah has been the one sending your letters. I wonder what her Parents will do when they find out"

She let the threat hang low in the air before she left.

The bruises from my father's correction was not evident in this shabby old gown handed to me by my mother.

Her Grandmother used it, her mother used it, she used it and now it was my turn to let it tie me down to this town.

"This is your chance to make things right again, don't ruin it" My mum said as we made it into the church

"Yes mother" I gulped

My Dad started the sermon by talking about roles in marriage and the importance of a woman keeping her purity for a man with scriptural backings then he invited us forward.

"Today, we're gathered together to join two souls in holy matrimony. My daughter, Lanarai kensly and our very own Pastor Michael Henshaw"

 Everyone applauded.

"Lanarai Kensly do you, by the will of God take Pastor Michael Henshaw as your lawfully wedded husband, to respect and to submit to, as commanded by the word of God"

 "No"

The whole church went so silent that I could hear my own heart pounding. Then Michael's face twisted in fury, clearly He had grown impatient

"What do you mean by that?"

"I don't want to marry you"

"You know I'm doing you a favour, you shameless whore" He said grabbing me by the arm and yanking me into him

"Let go of me" I struggled to pull myself away from him but his grip was firm

The church erupted in disgruntled chatters

 "Lanarai behave!"

"Is this how you will submit to your husband?" My father yelled from behind the stand

"Please I will do anything. You can punish me but please don't let me marry this man" I cried

"You should be grateful that I'm willing to marry you" He shoved me to the ground.

I fell with a loud deafening thud. Pain shot up my spine, I was certain I sustained a bruise.

"Are you okay?" Nyrah rushed to my side immediately

Michael pushed Nyrah away before she could even help me and forced me to my feet.

"You will marry me now!"

Before he could drag me to the Altar again, the double door burst open startling everyone and men in suit trooped in. My heart leaped with joy, Noah really came for me.

"You sent for me my angel" His rough voice boomed through the hall before he even stepped in.

I was most certain he would not have made it in such a short notice after getting the last letter Nyrah sent but he did.

When the dust settled, the smile on my face was replaced with confusion.

  • Filthy Letters To The Stranger   The Morning After

I woke up to sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows and the scent of Herman's cologne lingering on the pillow beside me.For a moment, I didn't move, lying there with my eyes closed; I breathed him in. The silk sheets were soft against my bare skin, and my body ached in places I didn't know could ache. The soreness between my thighs that ached with every little movement I made was a constant reminder of what had happened the night before.I stretched my hand across the sheets, reaching for him, my eyes still closed, searching for the warmth of his body.Last night he'd held me so tightly I could barely breathe, his arm draped over my waist, his breath warm against the back of my neck. He'd whispered things in the dark, things that made my heart race and my cheeks burn. But instead of his warm body, my hand held nothing but cold fabric. My eyes flew open. The space beside me was empty. The sheets were smooth and untouched, as if no one had ever been there at all.I sat up

Tying the silk scarf behind my head, Herman pushes me down into the bed. For some reason the smell of his cologne smelled stronger, and I could hear the sound of his breathing above me.“Herman…” My voice came out thin.“I’m here," he says in a hoarse voice as he traces the edge of the scarf from my temple down to my cheek. “If it gets too much, she can say stop, do you understand? Anytime.”I nodded.“Use your words, please, Engel," he whispers in my ear, making my body tingle."Yes… I understand.”His mouth brushed the corner of mine, and then he pulled away. I heard the rustling of clothes before he came up against me.He lifted my foot, kissing them slowly. "Herman…" I breathe. "What…what are you doing?"He doesn't stop. "Just trust me, okay?”So I swallowed my words and let him continue, his lips close around my big toe as he sucked in it hard."Herman…" I whispered his name as a tingling sensation travelled down my core. I immediately tried to pull my foot back, but he held firm

Noah's POV"Ahhhh!" I screamed, shoving everything off the table in my study.Papers flew everywhere; the crystal decanter filled with 1990 Château Pétrus shattered against the wall with a loud crash, but I didn't care.My laptop crashed to the floor, the screen cracking, but none of it mattered. Nothing could erase the image of Lanarai in the arms of Herman Liechenberg as he carried her out like he owned her."How dare he?" I paced the room, my hands shaking with rage. "He thinks he can just come and take her? She wouldn't be with him willingly. She couldn't be. He must have forced her. He must have…. "I grabbed my phone, fingers trembling as I dialed the only person I could talk to about this."Marcus." I almost yelled as soon as he picked up. "Marcus, you won't believe what happened.""Slow down, Noah." Marcus's voice came through the speaker, calm and measured as always. Marcus Chen and I go way back to my law school days. We've been thieves, and he was the only person who knew m

Herman's POV"Mhmmmm." She kept tapping my chest to make me stop, but instead I pulled her tighter against me, kissing her deeper.I couldn't get enough of her. The taste of her lips, the soft little sounds she made that went straight to my cock. The way her fingers tangled in my hair, pulling me closer.Every letter I'd read, every fantasy I'd imagined under the cover of darkness, every night I'd stroked myself to the thought of her—none of it compared to having her here in my arms."We are here, sir," the driver said, his voice cutting through the haze.Only then did I break the kiss.Looking down at her in the dim light, I'd never seen anyone so beautiful. Her lips were swollen, kiss-bruised, and glistening. Her breaths came in uneven little gasps."You're so fucking beautiful, Engel," I mumbled, straightening her dress even though all I wanted to do was tear it off her right there in the backseat, driver be damned.Without another word, I stepped out of the car, walking around to

Noah's words replayed on a vicious loop inside my head."I had to make decisions for my future."I couldn't breathe. The cold night air hit my face but did nothing to cool the fire burning in my chest.I was a decision. An option. Something to be weighed and measured, then discarded when something better came along.I didn't realize I was crying until Herman wiped the tears off my face with the back of his hand. His touch was surprisingly gentle, almost reverent, a stark contrast to the violence I'd witnessed from him hours before."Don't," he said in a low voice. "Don't you dare cry for another man in front of me. I'm the only one allowed to make you cry."I chuckled despite myself, a broken, hollow sound that escaped before I could stop it.I looked up at him, this stranger who had burned down the world just to keep me safe.A small smile tugging at my lips."Take me home, please."Herman's eyes searched mine, dark and unreadable. "Which home, Engel? Where would that be? Back to the e

  • Filthy Letters To The Stranger   The Shadow of Frankfurt

The Shadow of FrankfurtThe grand ballroom of the Grand Kaiser Hotel was an extravagant display of wealth and shadow. Crystal chandeliers cascaded from gold-leaf ceilings, casting fractured light across dark velvet drapes, champagne pyramids, and men in tailored suits whose smiles never reached their eyes.To the rest of Frankfurt’s elite, it was an annual celebration of high society. To me, it felt like nothing more than a polished, gilded cage.Herman’s hand rested heavily on the curve of my waist. His touch was firm, possessive, and warm through the thin silk of the emerald dress he had picked out for me. Every time I shifted, the fabric brushed against my bare skin, bringing back unwanted, intoxicating rushes of memory, the heat of the bath, the steam rising around us, and the shameless way I had let a stranger unravel me in his arms."You are tense, *Mein Engel*," Herman murmured, leaning down so his lips brushed the shell of my ear. His deep voice sent a shiver straight down my
