8: What Is Your Decision?

Sherry arrived at the MGM Agency and was able to talk to one of the agents after five minutes of waiting.

"What can our agency do for you, Madam?" A clean-shaven guy in his 40s asked Sherry inside a room.

"Um, I want to know the address of my husband's mistress. Her name is Meghan but I don't know her family name or her address," Sherry explained.

"No problem, Madam. As long as we know your husband's name and where he is working right now, and you can provide us with his photo, we can follow him 24/7 and locate the address of his mistress. You just gave us all the correct information, and we will give you the best result in the soonest possible time," the guy said.

"OK. Can you guarantee me that it will be discreet and that my husband will never know that you are following him?" Sherry asked apprehensively.

"Yes, Madam. That's what we do best; we have been in this business for 50 years, helping people find answers to their questions in a discreet way. We value your trust, Madam. Rest assured that everything we discussed in this room is confidential," the guy assured her.

"Okay," Sherry said, setting aside her apprehension. She was sure that once Axel learned about what she was doing right now, he would get mad.

"Madam, please fill out this form. All the information you put in here will never be released to anyone," the guy said in a professional tone.

Satisfied with the way the guy answered all her questions, she filled out the form and finished it within ten minutes. She gave the form to the guy.

"Madam, once we have the result, we will provide you with a photo of your husband together with his mistress and her complete address as well so that you can find the address easily on your own," the guy said, checking the form.

"Great!" Sherry said it with a smile.

They discussed the billing method and after settling the downpayment for the services in the cashier's section, Sherry left the building and saw the cafe next to the agency. She went inside the establishment, settled on a vacant table and ordered an avocado smoothie while staring at the passersby walking down the busy street.

She was wondering what to do this coming Sunday; it will be their second wedding anniversary.

Sadness clouded her face. How can she celebrate their anniversary when their marriage is already falling apart?

The truth is, there is no need to celebrate because the marriage has already crumbled and there is already a third party involved. She was sure that Axel no longer cared about their second wedding anniversary. On their first anniversary, they went on a two-day holiday vacation on an exotic island.

Now, there is nothing to celebrate anymore.

Tears shimmered in her eyes.

She feels so alone, sad, and lonely. She was thinking of going home to her family but she has no courage to face her parents and inform them about the divorce; they would surely be devastated by her sad flight.

As of now, no one in their family knows about Axel's divorce plan because it was all so sudden.

It took Axel three months to finally decide that he wanted a divorce from her. Maybe if Meghan hadn't gotten pregnant, her husband wouldn't ask for a divorce.

After she finished her smoothie, she left the cafe and went home. She can't stay in the cafe anymore because she has the sudden urge to cry a river. When she arrived home, she went straight to the master bedroom and cried her heart out in the comfort of her bed.

Halfway through her crying, her phone rang, alerting her to an incoming message. She grabbed her phone from the side table and read the message from her mother-in-law.

'Daughter, we are coming tomorrow to celebrate your 2nd anniversary. We have already contacted your parents as well. I already asked our son and he told us that you had no plans to go somewhere on that day. We will celebrate the anniversary and make it a family day. Don't worry; I already contacted my favorite food caterer and party decorator. They will come to the house to decorate the place. We have already informed your parents and family so that they can attend the event as well. See you soon!'

Oh, no!

Shocked, Sherry stared at the message on her phone for the longest time. Her in-laws and her family are coming to celebrate their second wedding anniversary!

OMG!

What's she going to do now?

Will Axel reveal the divorce to their family during the celebration?

They will surely discover the truth, especially since her husband's stuff is already in the guest room.

What's she going to do?

She needs to talk to her husband!

She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to stop herself from panicking.

Wait a minute...

Why is she the one who is scared? She is not the one who instigated the divorce; it's her husband! She has nothing to hide and nothing to be afraid of!

She was in the middle of confusion when the door opened and Axel entered the room. "Why are you here?" she asked.

"This is still my room," Axel replied in a casual tone.

"Did you know about Dad and Mom's plans for our anniversary this Sunday?" she asked.

"Yeah, that's why I'm here to discuss it with you," Axel said, sitting on his bed, facing her.

"What are we going to talk about? Do you plan on telling them that you are divorcing me on the day of our wedding anniversary?" Sherry asked, wanting to know his plan in advance so that she would know what to do and what to expect from him that night.

Axel shook his head. "No. It's not yet the time. You haven't' signed the divorce paper until now. But if you sign the documents right now, we still have time to cancel the family get-together this coming Sunday."

Sherry's eyes widened in anger. "How dare you put the pressure on me!" She glared at him.

"Your call, wife," Axel said calmly.

Tears shone in her eyes. "Why are you punishing me like this? Why are you so cruel to me? What have I done to you? I haven't done anything wrong to you. I don't deserve this!" she lamented.

Axel heaved a sigh. He felt guilty all of a sudden, knowing that his wife was telling the truth. He is being unfair to Sherry; she is a good wife. Just that old love came knocking on his doorsteps and he was too weak to resist it. And now he got Meghan pregnant and she was pressuring him to divorce his wife and marry her to legalize their relationship.

He took a long, deep breath. "I know you think that I'm being cruel to you. But put yourself in my shoes. You loved this guy and dreamed of marrying him, then suddenly your parents arranged a marriage for you. What will you do?"

Speechless, Sherry stared at her husband for a long time.

"My only mistake is because I'm a good son. I obeyed my parents wishes despite knowing that I would have to let go of the woman I truly love. You have no idea how painful it is to let go of someone you love. It's so damn painful!" Axel said in a tormented voice.

Sherry sighed bitterly as she watched the pain flashing on her husband's face; she couldn't bring herself to sympathize with his predicament. "And do you think that by reconciling with Meghan, you corrected your mistake? No. You only make things worse because you made her your mistress and you hurt me and your child will come out illegitimate! You shouldn't have gotten back together with her in the first place!" she said indignantly.

Axel stared at his wife, shaking his head sadly. She will never understand his feelings or his situation. At times he felt confused with his decision but Meghan needed her more than Sherry, so he has to do the right thing.

His marriage to Sherry was a big mistake in the first place because it was an arranged marriage between two close-knit families, not because he and Sherry were in love with each other.

He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't see his wife already sobbing hard. Her pitiful crying tugged at his heartstring. He went to her side and rubbed her back. "I'm so sorry, hon. I didn't mean to hurt you. Just that things happened and I can no longer undo what I have done," he said miserably.

Sherry raised her head, meeting her husband's gaze with pleading eyes. "Stop the divorce! Just give Meghan a monthly allowance and child support. That's all you need to do. We can still go back to where we were before. Let's do it before our family finds out!" She said it with urgency in her voice.

Axel sighed deeply. His wife's statement gave him something to ponder about. But Meghan wouldn't agree to being his mistress for too long. She threatened him that if, after six months, he still doesn't get a divorce from his wife, she and their unborn baby will disappear from his sight completely and he can no longer see his child in this lifetime.

It's something that terrifies him; it's his firstborn, and he can't let his own child be taken away from him. Besides, it's the best time for him and Meghan to continue their love story that was abruptly halted due to the arranged marriage.

"Hon, please listen to me! Leave Meghan, drop the divorce, and return to me. It's not too late yet. We can still fix things between us," Sherry begged him tearfully.

Axel stared at his wife for a long time.

"Hon, what is your decision?" Sherry asked, holding her breath while waiting for his answer, desperately hoping that he would listen to her before it was too late for him to undo his mistakes.
