Known for his power, ruthlessness, and heart made of ice, Alexander sees Elara as nothing more than property. But she is nothing like he expected. Her innocence challenges him. Her quiet bravery intrigues him. And her presence awakens emotions he buried long ago. As Elara navigates her new life inside the billionaire’s mansion, she realizes that Alexander is not only dangerous… he is broken. And she might be the only one capable of melting the ice around his heart. But enemies are watching, waiting for the perfect moment to strike — and Elara becomes the weakness they want to use against him. In a world filled with power, pain, and forbidden desire… Fire will meet Ice. And neither of them will ever be the same.

Chapter 1 ALEXANDER STEELE

They didn’t call him Alexander Steele because that was his name.

They called him Fire because nothing stayed the same after he passed through.

From the top floor of Blackwood Tower, Alexander stood motionless behind a wall of glass, watching the city glow beneath him. The streets were alive with headlights and ambition, but to him, it was all just a chessboard. Every building, every company, every person existed in terms of leverage and loss.

The rain began to fall, streaking the windows like thin veins of silver.

Alexander didn’t move.

He wore black—not out of habit, but intention. Black reminded people of power. Of endings. His presence alone could tighten throats and sharpen smiles. Men who had ruined others’ lives feared him. Women who had everything still wanted his approval.

And yet, Alexander Steele stood alone.

Behind him, his assistant cleared his throat nervously.

“Sir,” he said, holding a tablet with both hands, “the acquisition is complete. Orion Autos has signed over full ownership.”

Alexander adjusted his cufflinks slowly. “Late,” he replied.

“They resisted the initial offer.”

Alexander turned then, his gaze sharp enough to cut.

“Resistance,” he said calmly, “is what happens when people mistake kindness for weakness.”

The assistant swallowed. “Yes, sir. Of course.”

Alexander took the tablet, glanced at the figures, and handed it back. The numbers meant nothing to him. He had crossed the point where wealth impressed him years ago. Money was a tool—useful, but uninteresting.

“What about the board?” he asked.

“Two resignations. One pending investigation.”

“Expected,” Alexander said.

The assistant hesitated, then added, “There was… an incident connected to the acquisition.”

Alexander’s jaw tightened almost imperceptibly. “Define incident.”

“An auto collision near the old Orion property. It happened less than an hour ago.”

Alexander’s eyes flicked briefly to the rain-soaked streets below.

“Casualties?”

“One,” the assistant said carefully. “A young woman.”

Alexander was silent.

“Alive?” he asked.

“Yes, sir. She’s at the hospital.”

“Then why am I being informed?” he demanded.

The assistant shifted his weight. “Because she has no records. No ID. No digital footprint. It’s like she doesn’t exist.”

Alexander frowned.

In his world, everyone existed. If not on paper, then in debt. In fear. In blood.

“No past?” Alexander said quietly.

“We ran everything. National databases. Private networks. Nothing came up.”

Alexander dismissed him with a wave of his hand. The assistant left quickly, the door closing with a soft click that echoed in the vast office.

Alone again, Alexander poured himself a drink and stared at it as if it might answer his questions.

No past.

He had built an empire on uncovering secrets. He knew where politicians hid their shame, where businessmen buried their crimes. He knew that every person had something to lose.

Every person but her.

His phone vibrated.

Unknown number.

He answered without hesitation.

“Yes.”

“Mr. Blackwood,” a strained voice said. “This is security. The situation is… unusual.”

Alexander’s patience thinned. “Explain.”

“The girl,” the voice continued, “she was standing in the road when it happened.”

Alexander said nothing.

“She didn’t scream. Didn’t try to move. Just looked at the car like she expected it.”

Silence stretched.

“Where is she now?” Alexander asked.

“City General Hospital. She keeps asking one question.”

“What question?”

The man hesitated. “She wants to know who owns the car.”

Alexander’s fingers tightened around his glass.

“And?” he said.

“It’s registered to you, sir.”

Thunder cracked loudly, shaking the windows.

Alexander ended the call.

For the first time in years, his chest felt tight—not with fear, not with guilt, but with something unfamiliar. Curiosity. A spark where there should have been none.

He set the untouched drink aside and reached for his coat.

Fire had rules. Fire did not look back. Fire did not involve itself in accidents or strangers.

But tonight, Fire had collided with something cold.

And for reasons he couldn’t yet explain, Alexander Steele knew this was not just an incident.

It was the beginning of something dangerous.
