Part II - Chapter 7
Over the past six hours, Rachel’s emotions had run the gamut from anticipation, he’ll be here soon, to concern, he’s late. I hope he’s ok, to annoyance, it’s past eight. He could have called!, to disappointment, it’s almost nine, I don’t think he’s coming, and finally to relief when she heard the lobby security guard announce Alex’s arrival. Three minutes later, he was at her front door.
“Rachel, I’m really sorry I’m so late, but just when I was about to leave, I got a call that one of our postmasters was in trouble and I had to get in touch with our association legal representative.
He followed her into the living room and casually dropped himself onto her couch.
“Make yourself at home,” she smiled.

Rachel stretched her long legs in the back of the spacious limousine as it inched along with the flow of heavy rush hour traffic. The interview had gone much better than her previous television appearance. At least this time she was able to answer specific questions about her second novel, now that she really did have more than just the title.Fortunately, the producers had scheduled the taping of three shows before Rachel’s interview, so she had an opportunity to relax on a couch in the green room and catch a few hours of sleep before a staff person came in to take her to make-up.
