Chapter 12

I stared at the messages of me and John, thinking about what I should do on a date, which is tomorrow.

“Should not try to stare too much. Should always smile and giggle—“ I said out loud while I’m reading the article on the internet with my laptop. Because I got occupied with Sera’s case yesterday, I completely forgot to do some research about this.

Speaking of, Sera and Paulo officially went back on dating again. I don’t know what exactly Sera told Sen but me and Neil found out that he was upset about Sera getting back together with Paulo because of his social media statuses.

I suddenly heard the laptop’s notification sound. I switched tabs and saw that Neil sent me a private message.

Neil

We have another client.

Ella

Come on, man. Just give me a break.

Neil

Haven’t I mentioned that you don’t have day offs?

Ella

WHAT

Neil

Just get in here. The girl is upset.

Oh great. Just in time. I just hope that the salary is at least enough for me to feed myself three times a day.

I dressed in white tee and an orange skater skirt, matched it with my white rubber shoes then tied my hair into braids. Then I head out of the empty house. When I arrived at the FHR office, I saw a girl sitting on a chair in front of Neil, wiping her face off with a handkerchief.

“You guys have different personalities. It just depends on the guy which one will he end up liking the most,” Neil said, still wearing his deadpan expression.

“But the aggressive ones are always getting it,” the girl said with a low voice.

“Well, like I said, it depends on the guy. He liked your roomie so there’s nothing we can do about that.”

As soon as I dropped my backpack on the couch, I walked towards them. “So you just called me here for nothing?” I threw Neil a snide comment as my hands were placed on both sides of my hip.

“Maybe. But this is your job, so you are required to attend meetings with our clients,” he said then he glanced back at the girl. “Have you atleast confessed to him your feelings? As well as to your roomie?”

The girl shook her head as I stood beside Neil's chair and looked at the girl. “What’s the issue about?”

“The girl has a crush on their friend who is a guy who lives next door and always hangs out with them. So Tamara—“ then he pointed at the girl, “—here was upset because her roomie was getting all the attention from that guy.”

“Ooh,” I said. “I think you should confess to that guy so at least he knows that you like him. Maybe that will give you a slight chance.” I told her with a smile then I winked at her.

“Do you think that’s okay? What if things will get a little bit awkward?” Tamara asked with a timid tone.

“What exactly do you want to achieve here, Tamara?” Neil asked as he laid his back on his seat.

The girl lowered her head down as she stared at her lap. “I want him to notice me. But it’s hard because of her.”

My lips turned into a line as I glanced at Neil who was twiddling his fingers with his elbows placed on the desk. “Start confessing your feelings for him and we’ll see how this goes.”

The girl nodded. She stood up and thanked us then left the office.

“Thanks. Now I just wasted a bus fee and thirty minutes of my time for a five minute meeting,” I said sarcastically as I was about to leave him when he grabbed my arm then pulled me to stand back beside him. I glared at him then he took his hand off from my arm and he clicked on his mousepad. My eyes darted at his computer screen and I saw that he was checking on the girl’s social media.

I like him so much that I wish that bitch would move out of my way!

“This is her recent post before she dropped by here,” Neil said then he glanced at me.

My lips parted because of what we just saw. “I guess we should learn not to judge the book by its cover.” Then I shrugged my shoulders.
