"They used siege magic on the rear line?" Alexis asked with a furrowed brow. "Why would they expend so much magic on the rear line?" To Alexis this didn't make any sense. If they were using it as an opener to an attack from the rear, it would definitely be justifiable. Have your men rush in taking advantage of the destroyed lines and chaos. But using siege magic alone and backing off, would be like someone taking a shotgun to kill a spider inside their own house. Beyond overkill. If they had struck the center of their lines, their commanders, or even their supply train, Alexis could understand the expenditure. Most magic users could fling spells they specialized in for a majority of the day. But siege magic? The average mage could use it four times in one day, but be severely weakened for the next couple of days. Sure they could use siege magic again the next day, but each day without a proper recovery time the power of the attack would be cut in half.
