LOGINChapter 37MILA’S POVDawson’s kitchen was as dry as a desert island could be. Not a single ingredient was available to prepare something as brief as breakfast. He’s got a guest coming over, and if I have to guess what’s coming for dinner, he’s probably going to order in like we did this morning. And I’m not going to eat pizza and fries all day. I told Kent we’d be branching out to the mall to do some grocery shopping because I intend to make dinner. Kent furrowed his brow. “You can cook?” That sounded like he was judging me. I frowned at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I questioned his tone. “Aren’t you the sole heiress to your father’s entire wealth or something? You should be a spoiled brat princess who’s probably never set foot in a kitchen before, no offense.” Saying that after realizing that his statement came off as judgmental. “Offense taken.” I scoffed. If only he knew the slightest thing about who I had to become to survive my own household. “What do you intend
Chapter 36 MILA’S POV I should’ve known the day was jinxed the moment Dawson brought up that witch’s name, Sophia. With her plush and sophisticated aura, you’d never be able to tell the darkness that walks around with her. I’d received a call moments ago from the hospital where my father was admitted; they needed me present to make a life-or-death decision about his predicament. Apparently, he hasn’t gotten any better, as I thought he would; he's gotten worse. Kent was here and already driving me down to the hospital. I glanced at him behind the wheel and met his gaze locked on me. He quickly looked away once he saw that I’d caught him. Well, that was weird. “Is there something you want to ask?” I could literally see his thoughts eating away at his face; he was anxious about something. He might as well just spit it out, no matter how odd it sounds. “I’ve been meaning to ask. When you said your friend just got her heart broken, what did you mean by that? What a

Chapter 32 MILA’S POV I didn’t even know when I fell asleep. My eyes stirred awake from the bright sun’s rays filtering into the room through the glass walls. Can’t believe I slept off on the couch. I pushed off the duvet, covering my body before trying to clear the blurriness in my eyes. ‘Wait!’ I slept off unconsciously. I didn’t have the time to get a duvet and cover myself. ‘Did Dawson come back home yesterday?’ I hurried out of the couch and ran up the stairs. It doesn’t even feel like I’ve been here before. Everything feels warm and timeless. From the white marble floors to the natural stone feature walls, the details don’t scream much of its luxury and rather let it out through whispers. I hadn’t walked that much when a pivot door with no visible frame opened, followed by his figure as he stepped out partially clothed. He stood well over six feet tall, with the kind of presence that made an entire room fall silent the moment he entered. Every detail carr
