Kenzie felt like her head was about to explode. She sensed soft sheets beneath her frame, and her surroundings had a whiff of sandalwood. She fluttered her eyes open, realizing she was in someone elseâs room, a huge and luxurious one at that.
Her nostrils picked up a scent of vanilla bean on her torso. When she sat up, she noticed how her shirt was hugging her loosely.
Then... the shock.
She was in someone elseâs clothes. A manâs clothes!
In a split second, Kenzie felt her heart racing as panic struck her. She looked around and assumed the worst.
âAhhhhh!â She screamed her loudest again and again. âAhhhh!â
Seconds later, as she continued to scream in hysteria, she heard a loud set of banging against the door, and not a moment too soon, the door broke open with Andrew walking in, half-naked, wearing only his trousers. âWhat â whatâs wrong, Kenzie? What happened?â
After a few more screams, Kenzie replied with tears in her eyes, âOh, my God! Andrew? I - I lost my virginity and I donât even know if it was any damn good!â
It took seconds for the words to sink into Andrew's head. "Jesus, you scared the hell out of me."
He placed both his hands behind his head and took a full turn, laughing unrestrained at Kenzieâs predicament. âYou are something, alright, just Kenzie. You really are.â
***
âSo.â With eyes wide open, Kenzie sipped on a cup of coffee and sighed with relief. âNothing happened between us?â
âNothing of that sort happened between us,â Andrew replied, also drinking his hot beverage from across the table. He flashed a killer smile in Kenzieâs way before adding, âBy the way, Iâm very relieved to know that my wife is still a virgin.â
While feeling her ears burn, Kenzie could not help but drop her mouth at his comments. After shutting them close, her lips twitched before warning, âDonât be such a pervert â Ah.â
Kenzie massaged her temples, sensing the headache. She gasped and asked, âUm⌠So what exactly happened? Are you sure you did not take advantage of me?â
Andrew raised his hand and promised, âI swear to the heavens⌠Nothing happened between us.â Pausing only for a second, he smirked, leaned over, and continued, âAlthough, I must say, you seemed very disappointed, sweetheart.â
She unknowingly gawked at him for a moment, thinking quietly, âWas I disappointed?â Her eyes landed on his muscled chest, which just happened to flex as soon as she studied his frame. âOh, yeah. Sound the alarm. Damn! He is a work of art.â
Despite the crazy headache, she could still appreciate Andrewâs bodily features.
âLike what you see?â Andrew teased.
âOh, my god! Was I staring that long?â She looked away and suggested, âGet a shirt, Andrew!â
While Andrew went back inside his room, Kenzie tried her best to recall what transpired the night before. She remembered how she had too much to drink and was feeling sick. The bar they were at was full of people, and Kenzie wanted to go back to her room.
She recalled how Andrew offered to bring her to her cabin, but in the end, she was too drunk to make the long stroll to the other side of the vessel.
"Why did I book economy?" She groaned.
The only thing she could remember next was throwing up in Andrewâs bathroom. His suite was much closer to the bar and hence, the reason why they both found their way there.
Returning from his room, already in a white shirt, Andrew offered Kenzie an aspirin. As if he knew what Kenzie was thinking, he explained, âAfter you threw up in my bathroom, you asked if you could just stay in my bed since they were more comfortable than yours. You were very drunk, and I was exhausted.â
âI honestly did not have the energy to go looking for your room at three in the morning, plus economy rooms are way too far from my suite,â Andrew added. âYou feared I would take advantage of you, so you locked yourself in my room.â
Looking at her clothes, he said, âI did not change you so you must have chosen to wear my clothes.â He winked at her and complimented, âYou look good in my shirt⌠better than your red dress.â
Kenzie rolled her eyes before she studied the oversized shirt she was wearing. Thank goodness she wore cycling shorts beneath her dress; otherwise, her underwear was for Andrew to feast on⌠At least, that was what she was thinking he would do.
âAnd mind you, I did not even get to wash. Thank you very much for locking the doors of my own room. And FYI, the couch was not as comfortable as my king-size bed,â he revealed. âSo you owe me.â
âOops. Sorry. â She shrugged and said, âI did not know I had it in me. It was the first time I got drunk. And I donât owe you anything. You had a beautiful girl sleep in your bed. Iâd say you got more than what you bargained for.â
Andrew first squinted at Kenzieâs words, but soon he answered, âTouchĂŠ.â
The doorbell rang, interrupting the moment between them.
âThat must be breakfast,â said Andrew before getting up from his seat.
***
âIâm just a nobody. Iâm poor. I am very poor,â Kenzie revealed as she and Andrew were having breakfast.
âI heard you the first time around,â Andrew replied. âYouâve been saying that since last night.â
âDid I?â She asked, frowning.
Andrew nodded and replied, âYes, like a broken record. It was as if you were scaring me about the hole in your wallet.â
The two ate silently for seconds before Andrew spoke again. âBut donât worry, sweetheart. I donât care if you are poor or the fact that you are a nobody.â He pointed his fork at her and added, âI like this⌠Kenzie, nobody.â
'Yes, I'm a nobody... and he said he did not care.' The idea that someone may actually like her without being recognized as her father's daughter was starting to sound appealing to her. With that, Kenzie smiled.
âSo⌠where do you live? I could tell you are American or maybe Canadian,â Andrew probed.
âAmerican. Iâm from Brae â Monroe City,â Kenzie said, quickly changing her hometown.
âWhat do you do for a living?â he inquired.
âUmmm.â There was a hint of hesitation coming from Kenzie. She took a bite on her toast and after chewing it down, she answered, âIâm into music. I â I wanted to be a singer, but⌠But I wasnât any good at it so I figured, Iâll just write songs from now on. Hoping I could sell them for a good price or maybe, I could be a producer.â
Silence filled the air, and Kenzie was unsure why. It was as if Andrew did not like her answer.
After some time, Andrew asked, âSo you donât like to be a singer or a star? Because I could help you with that.â
âNo.â She said outright. âIâve already decided, I donât want the limelight.â
âAnd as I said, Iâm⌠Iâm not good at singing,â she replied. Of course, two weeks ago, her answer would have been different. Thanks to her so-called friends and boyfriend, she easily had a change of heart.
To her surprise, though, she caught Andrew sighing in relief. She heard him say, âWell, Iâm glad.â
âNothing against singers and actresses or models. I have friends who are, and I manage an entertainment company, but I donât think Iâd want to be married to a woman who would constantly go on promotional tours, meet other vultures who prey on beautiful women, does kissing scenes, fake it so they can get what they want, worse, sleep with directors or producers to get on top of the game,â Andrew blurted out. His words clearly held a deeper meaning.
âYou know, I know some people who say they were once in love but had to leave their partners for a chance at fame,â he added, speaking slowly this time, his voice sounding deeper.
Kenzie was taken aback. She peered closely at Andrew as he ate. She asked, âSpeaking from a personal experience?â
âSort of. It was a long time ago, though. Thatâs why I made it a point never to date anyone in the entertainment industry,â he answered.
Kenzie did not know why, but she found herself smiling and said, âAndrew, Iâm glad that she left you.â
âI mean, Iâm glad you are single.â
âNo! I mean, she does not deserve you!â
She cringed and muttered, âArrgh. I donât know what I am saying!â
âYou mean, you are glad I got dumped so Iâm free to marry you,â Andrew swiftly supplemented, smirking while he was at it.
âYes. No! Thatâs not what I mean!â Kenzie countered, turning tomato red! Despite trying to take it all back, Andrew was already laughing at her admittance.
âYou tricked me, for crying out loud!â
âItâs okay, sweetheart.â He winked and suggested, âI can take a hint.â
"If it makes you feel better, I'm glad that did happen and years passed. Here I am, meeting the woman who turns me on with her every move," Andrew added with a wink.
"Pervert!"
"Haha!"
Hello, my lovely readers, Thank you once again for having supported me this far. Kenzie and Andrew's love story has finally concluded. I'd have to say, this was the most challenging novel for me to write, all because of how we were affected by Typhoon Odette. Still, I thank my creator for guiding me and providing for me and my family's needs during that difficult time. I also appreciate my reader's words of encouragement, understanding, and concern. You all have helped me get this far. I am grateful that despite the struggle, I completed the novel according to my timeline. In case you did not know, this novel is Book 2 of the Wright Family Series. You can read the other books by searching for the titles below. Book 1: Mommy, Where Is Daddy? "Alright, Luke. The first and very basic technique is to strike from above," Andrew said, holding a wooden sword in his hand. "As your starting position, your left foot should be here as your leading foot." Looking down in his ready stance, he explained, "Your right foot is to the back. This way, your body weight is evenly distributed and your hips are facing towards the opponent." He held tightly on the grip and demonstrated, "Your sword is pretty much at shoulder level. Like this." "Then, you bring your sword forward this way. You step your right foot this way, out of the line of attack, and then bring down your blade, hitting your opponent!" Andrew turned to Luke with a confident grin and said, "It's very easy... What do you think?" "Dada! Dada! Num, num mama!" The one-year-old was pointing to the door, wanting to go to his mommy. Obviously, Andrew's demonstration did not sink in to the baby. And how could he? It was just Andrew's wishful t
Kenzie was back home with her husband and daughter. She was at least happy; she got to visit Braeton before she would give birth for she knew, she would need to hold back from flying once the baby is out. Kyle ended up visiting them though, in the middle of her wait. He had been planning to build a hotel in England and that was finally put into action when Andrew aided in securing a prime lot, just within the city. At that time, Kenzie and Andrew suspected that Kyle might be interested in a girl, seeing as how he was now smiling like a love-sick fool, but naturally, her twin brother was in denial. Nevertheless, it wasn't Kenzie's priority. She figured if her brother would meet a girl to help him get it up, she would be introduced to the family soon. Yes, her brother, Kyle had trouble getting it up for some time. Kenzie never knew why, but she was always confident her brother would meet his "The One" in due time. She thought, pe
Months passed again. Crowding in a room of two obstetrician doctors, Andrew walked in with one more. He said, "This is Doctor Mandal, from The Royal London Hospital." Turning to the other doctors, Andrew introduced each one, "This is doctor Owen from Liverpool. This is doctor Martin, my wife's attending doctor." Lying in the hospital bed, Kenzie had a frown on her face. She shook her head and sighed in annoyance at what her husband had actually done. "This is absolutely no disrespect to doctor Martin," Andrew began. "I absolutely - absolutely understand that sometimes, a baby's gender can be named incorrectly." Exhaling deeply, he resumed, "They say, two heads are better than one, well, I made it three heads. Surely, we can be more accurate in identifying my child's gender." "I understand, Mister Kentworthy," doctor Martin replied. "And I respect your preference, so, shall we begin?" It was because of Kenzie's first pregn
A loud smack made it in Kenzie's behind, making her scream, "Ahhh! Andrew!" "Get your ass off the bed, sweetheart? Your pregnant, not sick. The doctor clearly said you could walk, go up and down the stairs, and even work," Andrew said before letting out a heavy sigh. "Your perfectly round ass is going to get bloated." "How dare you? I don't care if I get fat! I will just lie here in bed until this baby turns four months old, and that's final!" Kenzie retorted while giving her husband a nasty stare. "I'd rather be safe than sorry, thank you very much." "Ahhh..." Taking a full turn Andrew groaned before joining his wife to bed. He said, "Well, if you are not joining me at the party, then I'm not going either." "What?" Kenzie turned with a frown. "You are not attending your company's anniversary party? Are you crazy?" "What good is a party if my wife isn't there?" Andrew said while turning to her side and embracing her from behind. "The party can
Time passed again. Months turned into a year. While it did not take long for Kenzie to recover from the depression, the couple decided not to rush on having a baby, rather allow it to come along, should it happen. They did not want to plan it. Each time Andrew and Kenzie made love, they simply relished in the pleasure without expecting anything to come out of it. Whether Kenzie wanted to rest in order to conceive, Andrew never put pressure on her, especially since, when she lost the pregnancy, she blamed herself thoroughly. Thus, Kenzie managed to take her career into greater victory, turning it into a business of her own. She managed to sign more artists under her record label and named her company, Steller Music Entertainment. Within that time frame, Courtney Star released another single, signed under the new record label and the young artist, Little Cali. Others were still working on recording their first album with Kenzie's
