Chapter 10 - About good husbands

Time passed mildly, with the Alpha regaining the respect of the people. He worked like the others in the wood industry, and on his free days he helped repair the houses that needed some renovations. Lucine did not give up learning how to prepare a decent meal, and with real food, which was not for dogs, it was not so difficult. In the days when he did not go to the lumber, Aram helped a lot, with the house and with the meals. Lucine began to record people’s faces, as she saw them almost daily when she was taking lunch to her husband at the factory.  As the days went by, he began to receive some nods and even a few more. The fact that she went every day, apparently, was making people believe that she took good care of her husband.

The fact that the Alpha always received with a modest but sincere smile, and showed a lot of warmth when she came, was also influencing everyone’s opinion of her. Six months had passed since the fateful day on which she had been assaulted in the assembly, they did not speak more about the subject, just continued living one day after another, adapting to coexistence.

Lucine followed the bed on the couch, and the Alpha never made any mention of making the relationship closer. She gave thanks to the Goddess for this, because she could not stand the idea of being with a male, but at the same time, she needed to try to gain his trust to get away. From experience, she knew that men had a clear goal in mind, to dominate females as much as possible. If she had to use her body to get her freedom, she would, could not be worse than being subjugated by the gammas.

Only the idea already repulsed her, but she needed to stay focused. In the months that passed, she developed some supreme Alpha abilities, could already clearly see people’s aura and her strength had increased considerably. He also developed long-range vision, and night vision, his reflexes were very fast, even in human form, and he felt much more agile. The fact that she is eating well also contributes to her evolution. In the Alpha’s house, she could eat whatever she wanted and whatever she wanted.

He felt free and comfortable to the point of developing hobbies and hobbies, such as watching television and reading a novel and another. Reading had never been her favorite pastime, but as in that village the entertainment options were limited, she was glad when she found a collection of novels that belonged to the dead wife of the Alpha, and he, to Lucine’s surprise, had allowed her to read them.

— It’s just old books, I planned to get rid of them anyway, it’s not like she’s gonna need them now. I never understood what she loved so much about these things, spent hours fixated on some of these books.

He had responded this way when she questioned him, tried to appear distant and alien, but Lucine knew that the death of his female was an open hole, which still bled in his chest, as it should be for any male of value. But now he had spoken about her, for the first time in months, she knew that the one-year anniversary of her death was approaching.

Lucine had to contain a smile, obviously that was not the kind of literature he would choose, water-with-sugar novels that contained a strong erotic content. They were nice to pass the time, but at first they caused her enough strangeness, she could not imagine pleasure in having sex, but the heroines of the books always liked it a lot. Also, with those good guys and what they did and how they treated their loved ones, it was instigating even for those who were just reading. A seed of curiosity began to be planted in the mind of Lucine, will be that in real life the relationship between a male and a female could be so? That’s why the alpha’s wife should be obsessed with them. Maybe she also did not like sex and sought those exciting experiences narrated in the books. Aram was not a rude man, but perhaps he was not a husband who pleased his wife in bed, she thought.
