Nadia’s POV

Peter Romano.

I was the reason why Lorenzo brutally drove a knife into his hand that night at the dinner gathering.

So definitely, he must have some pent up grievances against me. Slowly, I turn around to meet his dark, burning gaze. I can feel the heat of the hatred and lust burning under his gaze.

“Hi, Peter,” I mutter under my breath, but just loud enough for him to hear. My fingers dig deeper into my bag, clawing at it. Lorenzo asks me to come here but he’s nowhere in sig

Nadia’s POVThe flight to Italy is quiet and exhausting. Viktor sits across from me for most of it, working from a tablet and taking occasional calls. I spend the first hour staring through the window. Clouds stretch beneath us. White and Endless.I should be thinking that we are going back home. Instead, I’m thinking about Lorenzo. He left without me. Viktor’s words keep repeating in my head.…Don Lorenzo instructed me to bring you back safely…Safely. Like I’m a package. Something to be delivered. He couldn’t even be bothered to come himself.I don’t know why I’m surprised. I knew what Lorenzo was when I married him.A dangerous man. A violent man. A man who can look at someone without blinking while ordering their death.I knew he didn’t love me.Whatever existed between us had never been simple. There was hatred. Possession. Anger. And something else I had been stupid enough to believe might eventually become something different. Then he nearly killed me. That should have been eno

  • Forbidden Claim: A Mafia King’s Obsession.   Chapter 52: He left.

Nadia’s POVI don’t see Lorenzo the next morning. I don’t see him the morning after that either. At first, I tell myself that’s what I wanted. He told me to get out of his room, and I did. He didn’t come after me. He didn’t send a guard to drag me back. He didn’t knock on my door in the middle of the night. For two days, Lorenzo totally ignores me. I should be grateful.Instead, I keep looking for him. I hate that about myself. I hate that I feel the mansion is too large when he isn’t in it. There are too many corridors, too many rooms, too many places where I can hear footsteps and immediately wonder if they’re his. But they never are.I move into the room above the master suite. It’s smaller than the suite Lorenzo forced me to share with him, but I prefer it. It’s just as exquisite as the suite and there’s a balcony overlooking the rear gardens. Most importantly, there is a lock. I check it twice the first night. Then a third time before I go to bed.I don’t know what I’m expecti

  • Forbidden Claim: A Mafia King’s Obsession.   Chapter 51: He’s awake

Nadia’s POVLorenzo doesn’t wake up that night. Or the next morning, but I stay anyway. I’m not sure when sitting beside his bed became something I couldn’t walk away from. Maybe it happened when I saw him take that bullet for me. Maybe it happened earlier, when I found him bleeding in the warehouse and realized how terrified I was that he might not get back up.Whatever the reason, I haven’t left. The doctor came twice during the night. He said Lorenzo had lost too much blood. He said the bullet had done serious damage. He said Lorenzo was lucky. I sit on his bed with my arms folded across my stomach. My eyes burn from exhaustion. I haven’t slept properly since yesterday. The room is quiet except for the soft, steady sound of Lorenzo breathing. His chest rises. Falls, and rises again.I stare at it more often than I should. Every time his breathing changes, my heart jumps. The bandage around his side is thick. Another one covers his upper arm. His face is pale against the dark pil

Nadia’s POVMy heart is pounding so hard I’m sure it echoes in the warehouse.“Why?” I stare at Viktor. “What’s wrong?”He looks toward the darkness. “They’ve cut the power.”My heart starts pounding rapidly. “Can they get inside?”“They’re already inside,” Viktor replies.A cold shiver runs through my veins. I turn around slowly. The warehouse behind us is dark. Completely dark. Then I hear footsteps. Slow. Careful. Coming from somewhere inside.Viktor raises his gun. “Stay behind me.”I move closer to him. The footsteps stopped and silence followed. A man’s voice suddenly drifts through the darkness.“Nadia Romano.”My blood freezes. Whoever he is, he’s not calling for Lorenzo. He’s calling for me.I watch in utter horror as Viktor raises his gun higher.“Show yourself.”A low laugh followed, then another voice comes from behind us. “Too late.”I turn around. A man is standing in the doorway.Gun raised. His face is hidden beneath the hood of a black coat. And he’s pointing directly

Nadia’s POVThe rain only gets worse. It comes down so hard that I can barely see the cars waiting outside the warehouse. Water runs off the roof in thick streams, splashing over the concrete and turning the ground into a muddy mess.Lorenzo keeps hold of my hand as we walk toward the convoy. I don’t know why that bothers me so much.Maybe because a few hours ago, I would have done anything to get away from him. Now I’m walking beside him willingly. And that’s the part I don’t understand.Viktor is already moving toward the first SUV when Lorenzo suddenly stops, making me nearly walk into him.“What?” I ask, staring up at him.He doesn’t answer, his head turning slightly. I watch his face change. The softness from a few minutes ago disappears completely.“Get back inside,” he commands. My stomach drops, terror beginning to bloom in my chest. “What?”“Now, Nadia,” he growls. There is something in his voice that makes me obey. I take one step backward. Then, it comes. A sharp crack cut

  • Forbidden Claim: A Mafia King’s Obsession.   Chapter48: Fixing him

Nadia’s POV The warehouse is freezing. It smells like old motor oil, wet concrete, and something metallic that I don’t want to think too hard about. Rain pounds against the metal roof so loudly that it almost drowns out everything else. The windows high along the walls barely help. All they let in is the dull gray light of the storm. Lorenzo makes it halfway to a workbench before he stumbles, his hand catching the edge of it. "Lorenzo!" I rush toward him. A minute ago, I was furious with him. I was scared of him. I wanted nothing to do with him, but none of that matters now he’s injured. His entire left arm is soaked. Blood drips from his sleeve and hits the concrete beneath him. “Sit down,” I whisper. He looks at me but doesn’t argue. I grab a battered wooden stool and shove it behind his legs. He drops onto it, breathing hard through his nose. With his teeth and his good hand, he manages to pull off his suit jacket. It lands on the floor in a bloody heap. His shirt under

Ayla’s POV I paused, staring at the shards on the floor. Then I looked up to see Alex, my cousin. A glass in his hand, he looked at me and smirked. He was drunk. “Oooops! Sorry cuz, I had no idea you’d be walking in.” He grinned and staggered back upstairs. I stared at the sparkling shards blo

Nadia’s POV A sharp, agonizing pain pierced my skull as I tried to move, but my limbs wouldn’t respond. Slowly, I forced my eyes open, only to meet pitch darkness. Then realization hit — I was blindfolded, my hands and legs were bound tight, and my mouth was gagged with a piece of clothing. “Mmm

Nadia’s POV My heart hammered frantically against my ribs as I watched Lorenzo walk to my uncle and crouched down in front of him. “I want her. Consider it a repayment of your debt. Also, here is seven million dollars. Do not come for her in future, I’m paying you pretty well for her.” He said a

“Nadia’s POV I walked down the street that led to the Bennetts mansion as the event of earlier today replayed in my head. That man is really a devil. They call him the prince of hell, but they are wrong. He is the devil himself. The way his icy blue eyes stared at me, I could feel the hairs on
