MasukAisha’s POV
I walked out of the house and saw Ethan about to get into his car.
“Come on, let me drop you off,” he said, smiling at me.
I grinned. “Great.”
I got into his car, and he drove off.
“Ready for work?”
I shrugged. “A bit anxious.”
“It’s always first-time jitters. You’ll be fine.”
I nodded, but I doubted it. Not when Kyle was my boss.
“One more thing,” Ethan added, glancing at me. “Be careful around Kyle. He may be my best friend, but he’s changed over the years.”
I looked at him, then back at the window. He didn’t need to tell me. Last night had already proven that.
“He was reckless before, but now… he’s worse. I don’t want my little sister getting hurt.”
I let out a small, nervous chuckle. “Hurt? You don’t have to worry about that. Kyle won’t hurt me.”
“That, I know.”
He pulled up in front of Apex Holdings.
“Have a great day.”
“You too.” I leaned over and kissed his cheek before stepping out.
“And remember,” he added, “you’re welcome to join the family business anytime.”
I flashed him a smile and shut the door.
I exhaled slowly as I stood before the towering building.
Get it together, Isha.
I walked inside, offering polite smiles and greetings as I passed people. I made my way to the desk assigned to me, but the same woman from yesterday stopped me.
“Ms. Aisha, follow me.”
“Sorry, I didn’t catch your name yesterday.”
“Serena,” she replied, her tone flat.
“Where are we going?”
“Your job description has been changed. You’ve been reassigned as the CEO’s personal assistant.”
My heart slammed.
What the hell?
She stopped at a desk just outside Kyle’s office and thrust a file into my hands.
“You start now. Go through his schedule with him. Everything is in that file. If you need anything, come to me.”
Then she walked away.
I dropped my bag slowly, gripping the file like it might explode in my hands.
Through the glass, I saw Kyle seated with someone.
I inhaled deeply. “You can do this,” I muttered.
I knocked once and stepped in.
Kyle lifted his head, his gaze instantly locking onto mine. Cold. Assessing.
“Leave us, Theo. Alexa, turn on the blinds,"
The man from last night. His bodyguard.
He obeyed as the window blinds rolled down the glass walls.
The room dimmed. Only the lights illuminated the office.
“Brief me on my schedule,” Kyle said.
I opened the file, forcing my voice to stay steady. “You’re addressing the team by ten a.m. You have a stakeholder meeting by twelve p.m.”
“Good. There’s still time.”
He checked his watch, then stood.
“For what?” I asked.
He walked toward me slowly.
“Does it not concern you,” he said quietly, “that I had the blinds closed?”
I swallowed. “I’m more concerned about why you demoted me.”
He leaned against his desk, watching me.
“That’s not a demotion,” he said calmly. “But if you choose to see it that way…”
His fingers reached out, curling a strand of my hair around them.
“If you please me, I might promote you.”
My chest tightened with anger.
“I didn’t come here to climb my way up by warming your bed. I’m not some slut.”
His expression didn’t change.
“You don’t get to decide what you are,” he said softly.
Before I could react, his hand gripped my jaw.
“You’re mine.”
And then he kissed me. Hard. Possessive.
The file slipped from my hands as my back hit the wall.
I tried to resist. I really did.
But his grip tightened at my waist, pulling me flush against him, and my body betrayed me.
My arms wrapped around his neck.
God.
His lips moved from mine to my neck, slow, deliberate, like he knew exactly what he was doing. His hand slid lower, and a soft sound escaped me before I could stop it.
I hated that he heard it. I hated that I felt it.
He let out a low chuckle.
Then suddenly, he pulled away.
My eyes flew open. His expression had shifted. Cold. Mocking.
“Point proven.”
The words hit harder than the kiss. I stood there, humiliated, breath uneven.
He walked back to his seat like nothing had happened.
“Next time,” he said casually, “wear something easier.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat.
“Will that be all?” I asked, forcing my voice to stay steady.
“Tell Serena to prepare the team for the meeting.”
I nodded and walked out. My thoughts were chaos.
Why was I like this with him?
Why him?
•
The meeting came and went in a blur.
I was introduced to the team, and I felt the shift immediately. The women watched me with thin smiles and sharp eyes.
Territory.
And I was the threat.
Kyle didn’t look away from me once.
Not once.
After the meeting, he got a call and asked me to reschedule the stakeholder meeting.
I did it without question.
I wasn’t ready to sit in a room with him again.
•
The day ended quietly.
Too quietly.
Kyle had left after the meeting and didn’t return.
I was packing up when my phone buzzed.
Fiona texted: Get dressed. Wear your sexiest outfit. We’re going out.
I sighed.
Of course she was. I sent her a nodding sticker.
I got home, freshened up, and changed into a short black dress that revealed more than it should.
By the time I stepped outside, Fiona was already waiting in her car.
“Come on!”
I got in, already suspicious.
She drove us straight into an underground parking lot.
The moment I stepped out, the noise hit me.
Music. Engines. Cheers. My stomach dropped.
Race cars lined the space.
No. Not here. Not again.
Fiona grabbed my hand and pulled me in. The last time I had been around this…
I saw it. The crash. Kyle’s father. The screams.
I squeezed my eyes shut briefly.
And then I saw him.
Kyle.
Dressed in black. No suit. No polish. Just danger. Raw and unfiltered. My chest tightened.
He still races? After everything?
Before I could process it, Yvonne walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
For a second, it looked like he was pulling away.
Then his eyes met mine.
And he kissed her.
I looked away immediately.
“Been a while since I’ve seen them together,” Fiona muttered.
“What?”
But I didn’t hear the rest.
“Racers, get ready!”
The engines roared to life. My heart pounded as the race began. Cars shot forward.
Speed. Danger. Madness.
Kyle’s car fell behind for a second, then surged forward.
He took a turn too sharply. My breath caught.
He’s going to crash. But he didn’t.
He pushed harder. Faster. He crossed the finish line first. The crowd erupted.
I didn’t move. I couldn’t.
He stepped out of the car, surrounded by cheers.
Then his gaze found mine, and he started walking toward me.
Each step deliberate. My pulse spiked.
“The fuck are you doing here?” He said, stopping in front of me.
I lifted a defiant chin. “I should be asking you that. Didn’t what happened years ago teach you anything?”
“What I do is none of your business,” he snapped. “Go home.”
“You don’t get to tell me what to do.”
His jaw tightened. “Go home, Aisha.”
“No.”
I grabbed Fiona’s hand and pulled her away.
“The asshole,” I muttered.
“How long has he been racing?” I asked.
“I don’t know. But I’ve been seeing him here since Cara’s accident.”
I stopped. My chest tightened.
Was it because of me?
Before I could think further, a man approached us with drinks.
“You both look tense. Relax.”
Fiona shook her head. “No, thanks.”
I took it and drank.
“I needed that,” I said.
He smiled. “Anytime. I’m Jeremiah.”
“Aisha.”
We started talking.
Fiona stepped aside, watching.
“Are you here with someone?” He asked.
Before I could answer, a hand slid around my waist.
My body stilled.
“She’s with me.”
Kyle. I knew that voice anywhere.
I looked up at him.
His grip tightened.
“Do I need to make it clear?” He said, his voice low.
My breath caught.
His fingers tilted my chin up. His eyes fixed on me. “You’re mine, Aisha.”
My heart slammed.
“Only mine.”
And he kissed me in front of everyone, irrespective of the fact that Yvonne was present.
His kiss was claiming. Declaring. And ending the line that’s between us.
Aisha’s POVI tried Fiona’s number for the third time as I walked into the house. It still wasn’t connecting. I hadn’t been able to reach her since yesterday.I saw Marie Ann instructing Ernest on where to place dinner on the dining table.“Aisha, you’re back,” she smiled when she saw me.“Yes,” I smiled back. “Is Ethan back too?”She shook her head. “He said he would be running late. We can go ahead and have dinner without him.”“Oh,” I sighed. “I’m not hungry though. You can go ahead,” I added, turning toward the stairs.“Aisha, wait,” she called after me. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you.”I turned around. “About?”“Oliver. He’s a good man, honestly. Ethan and I think he would be a good match for you.”I shrugged. She had never spoken to me about boys before. Not like this.“Umm, Marie…”“I know, I know,” she sighed. “You’re Kyle’s girlfriend.”“No, I’m not. We ended the contract,” I said quickly. Her eyes widened in surprise. “For real?”I nodded.“Ethan will be so happy to hear t
Aisha’s POVI walked into D’Lise Designs building ready to take over the business.I’m doing this all for Cara, I mentally told myself.I met the staff chatting instead of discussing the next summer project.“Please stop being loud. Some of us are still trying to work,” a lady said, and the others jeered at her.I cleared my throat and they all turned to look at me.“And who are you?” One of them snapped.“Is this what you were hired to do here? Sit around and discuss irrelevant things?” I said sharply.“And who the hell are you to question us?” another fired back.“I am your new boss,” my tone remained calm and controlled. I had expected Kyle to brief them before my arrival. But of course, he hadn’t.She snickered. “Oh please. We know our boss, and it’s definitely not you.”Her eyes dragged over me dismissively.“If you’re the CEO, then I’m the president,” another added, and they all laughed.I gave a small smile. “I would show you the paperwork, but I don’t have the time. Are you al
Aisha’s POVI walked into the company like my heart had not just been shattered into pieces. But I wasn’t here to work.I was here to resign.Everything connected to Kyle Leicester, I wanted out of my life. After today, I never wanted to see him again.I refused to remain his revenge tool.Earlier, he had informed me that I would hand over my remaining duties to Serena before leaving. When I submitted my resignation letter, Serena smiled lightly.“A lot of people are going to celebrate your exit so they can steal peeks at the CEO’s again,” she teased before raising the file in her hand. “And congratulations on your new position.”I stared at her in confusion, wondering how she already knew.“I’ll take this to him,” she added before walking away.I slowly began clearing my desk.A few minutes later, Serena returned.“Mr. Kyle wants you in his office.”My stomach tightened instantly.Still, I forced myself to walk toward his office with my head held high. When I stepped inside, Kyle stoo
Chapter 27Kyle’s POVI got to the hospital, trying to steady my erratic heartbeat.“Mr. Leicester,” Doctor Jane walked towards me.“Where is she?” I asked immediately, walking past her.“You can’t go in yet. She had a bit of a crisis after she woke up. We’re trying to stabilize her,”She tried to stop me as nurses rushed in and out of the emergency room.I turned to her sharply, barely holding onto my composure.“The fuck do you mean by she had a bit of a crisis?!” My voice came out rough and unstable.“Please calm down, Mr. Leicester,”“Don’t fucking tell me to calm down!” I snapped. “You told me she was awake!”“Yes, she was. But after the call disconnected, she suddenly struggled to breathe. We are running tests now to determine the cause of the crisis,”“You better figure it out and ensure she still wakes up again,” I said coldly. “I’m not pouring money in this hospital for nothing,”“We’ll do everything we can for your sister.”“Well get to it,” my patience was hanging by a threa
Kyle’s POVWhen I couldn’t find Aisha around the house, I figured she must have explored the rooms instead.“Did you want me to find this?” She asked, trying to steady her breathing.“I didn’t expect the rooms would be where you would explore,” I replied, watching her carefully. “Let’s leave,”But instead of listening, she turned back toward the room and walked farther inside, completely ignoring me.“Is this where you bring your women?” She asked quietly, tracing her fingers over the cuffs displayed on the shelf.I chuckled lightly, still leaning on the doorway. “You don’t want to know my past escapades with other women,”“Do you have something like this in Winchester too?”I walked into the room. “Yes,”“Then why haven’t I seen it?”She moved slowly toward the bed, curiosity flickering in her eyes.I immediately understood what she was trying to do.“You haven’t walked into my closet,” I said calmly. “C’mon, fireball. This isn’t a place for you,”She sat on the edge of the bed, her
Chapter 25Yvonne’s POVI flung my phone across the bed in frustration. I was sick of seeing Kyle and Aisha’s pictures and videos everywhere. The charity gala clips. The yacht photos. And now pictures of them together in Atlanta.I groaned loudly. “Arghhh, Aisha! You just had to come back and ruin everything!”Stupid girl.Always hanging around him.I met Kyle in college and became hooked the moment I found out he was a Leicester. My family was reputable too, but nowhere near his level. My father commanded Winchester’s police force, but everyone knew Kyle Leicester held more power than the law itself. He ruled the business world, and even powerful men answered to him. That was why I wanted him. With a man like Kyle beside me, I would be untouchable. But he no longer looked my way.Not since Aisha Manchester returned.A woman from a family equal to his.The perfect elite couple.I sneered bitterly. If only she had stayed wherever the hell she crawled out from.I had carefully planned e
Aisha’s POVKyle pulled up in front of the building where the charity gala was taking place. He got out first, then walked around to my side and opened the door for me.“Thank you,” I whispered with a smile as I stepped out.A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips and he extended his arm tow
Aisha’s POVI woke up to Fiona’s call the next morning. “Girl, it’s eight AM,” I groaned.“I know. I had to tell you earlier. My daddy wants me to go on a blind date with some man,” she hissed into the phone.I chuckled. “He’s not giving up yet?”“He’s not. I’ll ruin that date, I promise you.”“I kn
Kyle’s POVI stared at the picture on Ethan’s phone. How the hell did he get it?My mind immediately flashed back to last night at Yvonne’s house.“Come in,” she had said.“Say whatever you have to say out here,” I replied, leaning against my car.“You’re seriously making Aisha your girlfriend?” sh
Aisha’s POVI got to the office and immediately went through Kyle’s schedule.Great. I wouldn’t have to see him for at least another hour.Actually, I didn’t want to see him at all.Not after what happened between us.I still didn’t know how to act around him now that we had crossed that line.Just
