Myra’s pov:

“Who’s there?”

“Myra it’s me.” I instntly pulled the door open at the sound of her voice.

I had been inside my room for the rest of the evening. No one bothered to look for me anyways. I am sure my father must have told the rest of the guests that I was tired and resting already, while Ethan has been spamming my phone with messages of how urgent he had to leave for business. He really takes me for a fool.

Sera shut the door gently behind herself.

“Myra”

“I’m really sorry for what happened at the party. I really didn't push her.” She rushed through her words like it had been eating her up.

“It’s fine Sera, I know you don’t push her.” I breathed out.

“So much has changed since you left, and I now know that everything isn’t as it seems.” I said with a heavy heart as I sat on my bed with a thud.

She looked at me confused.

I know I must be speaking in parables, I wish there was a way I could explain everything to her, and make it make sense.

“Ethan has been having an affair with the lady from the party.” I broke it down in the simplest way possible. The words left a hole sitting in my chest as they came out of my mouth.

“What..!?” Her eyes flew open and her hands clenched into a fist.

That was the Sera I know. Fierce. Just then a thought crossed my mind. I jarred back on my feet, and took Sera’s hands into mine.

“I know you are only  just coming back and I shouldn’t drag you into my mess, but please I think I need a favor.”

“Sure, name it.”

The more I thought about it, the more the idea made more sense. I took a deep breath and walked down the reception— my head high and my face plastered with confidence. I was going to need a lot of it.

“Good day.” I took off my sunglasses.

“I would like to see Alpha Aleric Voss.” I said politely, but the receptionist barely spared me a look. Instead she smacked the gum she was chewing so loudly and continued clicking her keyboard.

I swallowed.

“Hello, I would like to see Mr Voss.” I repeated.

“I heard yah the first time.” she said, rolling her huge eyes so much they could get stuck at the back of her head.  “Do you have an appointment?"

“No, but you can just tell him it’s Maya, his son’s fiancée.” The words left a bitterness in my throat.

“Yeah… I am also his son’s fiancée, so are a thousand other ladies in the pack.” She pressed her lips in a thin line.

I breathed, unsure of what to say next.

My coming all the way here to the Voss cooperation can’t be a waste. I had Sere cover for me so I could be here without my step mother sniffing around. I would have to part take in some royal function meant for every female of the royal family usually after an engagement, and I am not  allowed to step out of the palace until it was done, but here I was, breaking every rule because the last thing I want is getting married to that conniving snake Ethan or participate in the process. Plus, I need to hurry in order not to get Sera in trouble.

His father is my only hope of getting out of my godforsaken engagement. I’ve heard tales of how he honors his family reputation, and if I can just bring to his notice about his son’s doings, he should be able to make my father and Ethan dissolve whatever agreement they have. If my father doesn’t care about me, he sure should care about his son.

“Please if you could just..”

“Miss, I would have to ask you to leave or do we need to involve security.” She glared at me.

I took a step back.

“I’m sorry… Please excuse me.” My voice was barely a whisper. Maybe I shouldn't have come here. Just as I was about to walk away, I heard someone call out to me.

“Lady Myra?”

My heart paused for a second.

I turned to see a mid aged thirty year old man in a black suit. He walked down to me with precision and bowed his head slightly once his feet came to a stop.

Shit… did i just get seen by one of my father’s allibies… I thought I had disguised myself properly in this head scarf I was tying matched with a casual blouse and jean.

I forced a smile and bowed my head slightly in response.

“I am Beta Taylor. Alpha Aleric assistant.” He introduced himself and I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

Even though I'm all grown up now, I’m still not over the trauma my step mother has inflicted on me over the years as a lesson whenever I made a mistake, goodness knows what she would make out of the situation if she were to find out I had broken the rules this time as well— since she claims the moon goddess somehow speaks through her.

“Are you here to see Alpha Voss?” He  asked.

“Yes, but not Ethan, his father.” I answered simply. I knew Ethan wouldn’t be coming down to his father’s cooperation today. He texted me that he was out of the pack and even if I didn't believe him, I followed my gut.

Beta Taylor didn’t hesitate to take me along and soon the elevator we were in came to a stop. “You can go in.” he gestured while he remained in the elevator.

I let out a gentle breath as I stood in front of the huge glass walls, before I could gain my composure, the door slid open automatically.

“Miss Myra. What can I do for you?” I heard his voice before my gaze fell on him. He was sitting on his office desk, yet somehow a shadow seemed to linger around him despite the bright afternoon light.

I let my feet gradually take me in. What was that look in his eyes.. Did I come at the wrong time?

Oh gosh. I swallowed thickly.

“I..I would like to discuss something with you.” I managed to say. My heart pounded hard against my chest. “It’s about your son.” I added.

His expression remained the same, but there was a softness I could feel from him, just almost the same as at my engagement party.

“Have your seat.” He walked behind his desk and took his seat. His eyes fixed on me.

“Ethan is cheating on me, and I want to end our engagement.” I rushed through my words as my butt hit the chair. “Here see this.” I stretched out my hand with the video recording with so much hope, but he barely took a look.

“You should be announcing this to Ethan, not me.” He lit up the cigar on his table and took a smoke.

My brow slightly pinched together. This was not the response I was expecting.

“I know, but the agreement between my father and him seems more important than my future with him.” I said through the tightness in my throat, knowing I was nothing more than a transaction.

“ I don't want to be forced to release this video to the press.” My voice came out darker than I expected. I didn’t plan to come threaten him.

My eyes caught his gaze and they were ice cold. I didn’t realise when he’d walked down to me.

“Releasing that video would only give him the opportunity to openly cheat on you,” He pointed out. “If you want an end to your engagement you should discuss it with your father or your fiancée.” He placed his cigar on the ash tray.

“I have to leave now.”

He turned his back against me and just as he took a step away, the words flew out of my mouth before my brains could properly process them.

“Marry me!”

She raised a brow. I thought as much. I didn’t think I'd make it just in time for breakfast. I hadn’t slept in hours and just when I thought I would come back home, take a shower and head back to the office, my father invited me for breakfast. It wasn’t an invite basically, but I see why I get to sit on the same table with them as always. They needed something from me, and this time it’s putting Charlotte's name next to mine. “I'll figure something out for her.” I told them what they wanted to hear. “Excuse me.” I picked up the napkins and dappled the corners of my mouth. There’s no way I’m digesting anything I eat here.I let out a gentle breath as I got off the taxi, and just as I was about to take a ste

Myra’s pov “I am done with the interview and your secretary will be resuming tomorrow.” Sera said as she dropped some files on my table. I nodded. “How did it go with him?” She whispered as she slid into the seat opposite me.I shook my head disappointed. There was nothing to say. My heavy heart sank, but I felt good giving Tiara a piece of what she deserves. She was too stunned to react and I left her out there with no words said. Her days of getting away because of Ethan are over. “It’s going to be fine.. we’ll figure it out. Together.” She reached out for my hands and gave it a gentle squeeze. I sent her a small smile. I needed that comfort. “Myra.” I heard my name as the door opened. It was about time he showed up. “Greetings Alpha.” Sera stood on her feet and bowed her head slightly. “Please excuse me.” She added. “You didn’t tell me you were coming, I could have picked you up.” He circled around my desk and stood in front of me. I forced a small smile. “I didn’t want t

Myra’s pov I didn’t get a wink of sleep. My heart echoed heavily in my chest throughout the night as I thought of the many ways to get back at Ethan and Tiara. “It’s done.” I received a text from Sera. Walter, Aleric’s butler, dropped me off last night after drying up my clothes and as I made it into my home, I handed Sera the termination papers and asked that she send it back to Ethan at sunrise. With the series of calls and texts I’ve just received from him at once, I know he must have seen I didn’t sign them. His disappointment has only begun. “Taxi.” I never learnt how to drive, nor was I ever assigned a chauffeur since Lucia said it was more expenses on the pack— but we aren’t even that broke. I pulled out the card he had given to me and checked the address one last time. It wasn’t any place I was familiar with. “Take me to ornado” I said as I slid into the back seat. I don’t know what Aleric's plan is— Revenge or Freedom? but I guess I’ll have to find out.“We’re here.

Tiara’s pov “What the hell do you mean she sent the papers without signing them?” My eyes could fall out of my face with how aggressively I was looking at Ethan. He was quiet. “Why didn’t she sign it Ethan?” I gritted my teeth. “Shit.. I don’t know Tiara. Stop being on my neck.” He waved it off as he always does.I let out a gentle sigh. “Don’t lose it Tiara.” I said in my head. “You dropped her off last night. You told me she said she’ll send them today meaning she signed them or are these not the original?" I picked up the document and flipped through aggressively. “I didn’t drop her off.” He said under his breath. “She probably saw the text you sent. I woke up without her beside me.” He added.“What?” My eyes flew open. “You fucked her?” “That isn’t the point Tiara. You shouldn’t have sent those texts.” He let out a frustrated sigh, but I wasn't having it. “Then what is the fucking point.. all you were supposed to do is get those damn papers and you ended up fucking her br

Myra’s pov“The deal is done. little miss should have handed you the damn papers by now.”“We’ve gotten all she has. I’ll make the call to take her out. She wouldn’t know what hit her.”The sender was Tiara.I stared at the phone confused. What was going on? Little miss? Take her out? She couldn’t be talking about me right? I tried to convince myself, but that was what she called me when she teases me and claims it was just a nickname ‘little miss.’ What does she know about the termination papers? Something wasn’t adding up and my heart hammered hard against my chest even if I couldn’t tell what it could be. I picked up my purse lying on the ground and retrieved my phone from it. I have been saving the files of every document and transaction between Ethan and I. I scrolled aggressively trying to find meaning to what Tiara was saying, but I couldn’t find anything. Even then my eyes were already heated up and my vision was blurry for the tears gathered in my eyes. Just then my gaze

Myra’s povThe place was full as expected and after ignoring random questions from the interviewers, we greeted our way through the crowd and made it to our table. My gaze fell to the side where Tiara was seated, while gulping down a bottle of wine all alone. She looked miserable even in her fancy outfit. I never wanted things to get this thick between her and Ethan, but that serves her right for trying to take what’s mine. “Ladies and gentlemen welcome to this year’s gala.” The MC voice echoed through the speakers and everyone began to take their seats. With that, the event began. The opening speech was given and a few Alpha’s were acknowledged including Aleric, but he was absent. At the mention of his name my thought went wild. I know he isn’t the type to come out for events, but this was a compulsory one. I wonder if he is doing fine. A heaviness sat on my chest. Maybe I should have asked about his well being after the meeting yesterday even if he looked fine. “Please welcome
