LOGINMyra’s pov:
“Who’s there?”
“Myra it’s me.” I instntly pulled the door open at the sound of her voice.
I had been inside my room for the rest of the evening. No one bothered to look for me anyways. I am sure my father must have told the rest of the guests that I was tired and resting already, while Ethan has been spamming my phone with messages of how urgent he had to leave for business. He really takes me for a fool.
Sera shut the door gently behind herself.
“Myra”
“I’m really sorry for what happened at the party. I really didn't push her.” She rushed through her words like it had been eating her up.
“It’s fine Sera, I know you don’t push her.” I breathed out.
“So much has changed since you left, and I now know that everything isn’t as it seems.” I said with a heavy heart as I sat on my bed with a thud.
She looked at me confused.
I know I must be speaking in parables, I wish there was a way I could explain everything to her, and make it make sense.
“Ethan has been having an affair with the lady from the party.” I broke it down in the simplest way possible. The words left a hole sitting in my chest as they came out of my mouth.
“What..!?” Her eyes flew open and her hands clenched into a fist.
That was the Sera I know. Fierce. Just then a thought crossed my mind. I jarred back on my feet, and took Sera’s hands into mine.
“I know you are only just coming back and I shouldn’t drag you into my mess, but please I think I need a favor.”
“Sure, name it.”
—
The more I thought about it, the more the idea made more sense. I took a deep breath and walked down the reception— my head high and my face plastered with confidence. I was going to need a lot of it.
“Good day.” I took off my sunglasses.
“I would like to see Alpha Aleric Voss.” I said politely, but the receptionist barely spared me a look. Instead she smacked the gum she was chewing so loudly and continued clicking her keyboard.
I swallowed.
“Hello, I would like to see Mr Voss.” I repeated.
“I heard yah the first time.” she said, rolling her huge eyes so much they could get stuck at the back of her head. “Do you have an appointment?"
“No, but you can just tell him it’s Maya, his son’s fiancée.” The words left a bitterness in my throat.
“Yeah… I am also his son’s fiancée, so are a thousand other ladies in the pack.” She pressed her lips in a thin line.
I breathed, unsure of what to say next.
My coming all the way here to the Voss cooperation can’t be a waste. I had Sere cover for me so I could be here without my step mother sniffing around. I would have to part take in some royal function meant for every female of the royal family usually after an engagement, and I am not allowed to step out of the palace until it was done, but here I was, breaking every rule because the last thing I want is getting married to that conniving snake Ethan or participate in the process. Plus, I need to hurry in order not to get Sera in trouble.
His father is my only hope of getting out of my godforsaken engagement. I’ve heard tales of how he honors his family reputation, and if I can just bring to his notice about his son’s doings, he should be able to make my father and Ethan dissolve whatever agreement they have. If my father doesn’t care about me, he sure should care about his son.
“Please if you could just..”
“Miss, I would have to ask you to leave or do we need to involve security.” She glared at me.
I took a step back.
“I’m sorry… Please excuse me.” My voice was barely a whisper. Maybe I shouldn't have come here. Just as I was about to walk away, I heard someone call out to me.
“Lady Myra?”
My heart paused for a second.
I turned to see a mid aged thirty year old man in a black suit. He walked down to me with precision and bowed his head slightly once his feet came to a stop.
Shit… did i just get seen by one of my father’s allibies… I thought I had disguised myself properly in this head scarf I was tying matched with a casual blouse and jean.
I forced a smile and bowed my head slightly in response.
“I am Beta Taylor. Alpha Aleric assistant.” He introduced himself and I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
Even though I'm all grown up now, I’m still not over the trauma my step mother has inflicted on me over the years as a lesson whenever I made a mistake, goodness knows what she would make out of the situation if she were to find out I had broken the rules this time as well— since she claims the moon goddess somehow speaks through her.
“Are you here to see Alpha Voss?” He asked.
“Yes, but not Ethan, his father.” I answered simply. I knew Ethan wouldn’t be coming down to his father’s cooperation today. He texted me that he was out of the pack and even if I didn't believe him, I followed my gut.
Beta Taylor didn’t hesitate to take me along and soon the elevator we were in came to a stop. “You can go in.” he gestured while he remained in the elevator.
I let out a gentle breath as I stood in front of the huge glass walls, before I could gain my composure, the door slid open automatically.
“Miss Myra. What can I do for you?” I heard his voice before my gaze fell on him. He was sitting on his office desk, yet somehow a shadow seemed to linger around him despite the bright afternoon light.
I let my feet gradually take me in. What was that look in his eyes.. Did I come at the wrong time?
Oh gosh. I swallowed thickly.
“I..I would like to discuss something with you.” I managed to say. My heart pounded hard against my chest. “It’s about your son.” I added.
His expression remained the same, but there was a softness I could feel from him, just almost the same as at my engagement party.
“Have your seat.” He walked behind his desk and took his seat. His eyes fixed on me.
“Ethan is cheating on me, and I want to end our engagement.” I rushed through my words as my butt hit the chair. “Here see this.” I stretched out my hand with the video recording with so much hope, but he barely took a look.
“You should be announcing this to Ethan, not me.” He lit up the cigar on his table and took a smoke.
My brow slightly pinched together. This was not the response I was expecting.
“I know, but the agreement between my father and him seems more important than my future with him.” I said through the tightness in my throat, knowing I was nothing more than a transaction.
“ I don't want to be forced to release this video to the press.” My voice came out darker than I expected. I didn’t plan to come threaten him.
My eyes caught his gaze and they were ice cold. I didn’t realise when he’d walked down to me.
“Releasing that video would only give him the opportunity to openly cheat on you,” He pointed out. “If you want an end to your engagement you should discuss it with your father or your fiancée.” He placed his cigar on the ash tray.
“I have to leave now.”
He turned his back against me and just as he took a step away, the words flew out of my mouth before my brains could properly process them.
“Marry me!”
Myra’s pov “Are you sure you don’t need anything?“Wouldn’t you like to get some rest instead? Sera has been repeating the same questions since I told her I would be going to the Voss estate to exercise. “Myra are you..” I turned around to face her and took her hands into mine. Her gaze met mine. “I’m fine Sera.” I said softly with a gentle smile. I know she is nagging out of concern, but I would rather exercise and drain myself out and burn out all of the phene running through my veins, than lie in bed and drown in thoughts of misery. I’m sure Sera understands. Her face became red and her lips trembled. “I’m so sorry you had to go through that, I should have made sure you were alright.” Her voice broke and the tears she had been fighting so hard to hold back fell freely. “Come here..” I pulled her in for a hug. Sera might be hot headed, but could get really vulnerable sometimes. “You don’t have to keep apologizing, it wasn't your fault.” I know what exactly she must be thinki
Tiara’s Pov Shit.. I’m fucked. I need to think of something fast. If Ethan walks through that door he’d squeeze the truth out of Irene.“I’m.” I swallowed as he turned back and closed the distance between us. “I asked her to watch your father.” The words came out of my mouth faster than I could probably process the thought. I needed to say something.. anything. His brow raised slightly. “He’s been visiting the grand master hall lately.” I swallowed. “You know.. the hall for the coming event. He made Myra and I in charge, but has been visiting secretly and his Beta brought in some boxes in between which weren't approved on the list of items for the event.” He seemed interested in what I had to say. “I wasn’t sure what was in those boxes and I just wanted to know what he was up to so I sent Irene to watch. She returned with no useful information and I asked her to get information no matter what it takes even if it meant sneaking into his office.” I lied through my teeth and from
Ethan’s Pov “Did you fucking send him after Myra?” I snarled through clenched teeth as I stepped into Tiara’s home. She had managed to leave the council without me noticing. “Oh for fuck sake Ethan I can’t believe you came down here for that..” She rolled her eyes. “Wasn’t it obvious Irene did it? All evidence pointed to her..” “Remember?” She raised a brow. “But that asshole is your man.. he worked for you and I don’t really know what you claimed he did for you.” I pointed out the fact. I wasn’t sure why she needed a financial advisor out of the blue. To think it must have happened at the event yesterday just when I left Myra on the dancing floor to be with Tiara. She claimed she was in need of my attention from the series of text messages she had sent to me, so I left just before the dance would come to an end. She was just a few blocks away in some hotel. I was supposed to rush down there to check on her, but I got caught up in the situation. She was too sexy to resist and
Myra’s pov “Myra..” Ethan walked up to me immediately, while my eyes were still fixed on Irene and Nile walking out. “Are you hurt?” He was all over my face. “When did it happen?” “How did it happen?” He tried to gently cup my face, but I recoiled, pulling away from his touch.“This isn’t the place.” I said under my breath but his next question twisted something in my stomach. “Did you go out to meet him?” He asked and my gaze met his. “Say something Myra.” He added. I chuckled softly. “I can’t believe you.” All eyes were fixed on us but if he’s going to bring that conversation out here and belittle me, I wouldn’t stand for it. “What exactly are you implying?” I asked my gaze fixed in his. “I..” He paused. “No it’s not what you think.. I’m sorry.” He rubbed the back of his hair roughly. “I’m just asking if you’re okay.. you know..” He gestured by nodding his head.. “Cause I’ll fucking kill him.” He clenched his fist as he growled. I scoffed. “If you’re trying to know if
Myra’s POV What? My eyes flew open. Nile works for Tiara and my first instinct told me she could have told him to do it, but then he made his choice and I didn’t want to put it on Tiara even though I know how excited she would be to ruin me. My gaze fell on Irene. She seemed visibly shocked that her name was being mentioned. “Tiara made me do it.” Irene sobbed as she glared at her with hard eyes. “Why the heck are you mentioning me in all this?” Tiara snarled as she glared at her. They stared at each other with burning eyes before Irene took her gaze off. “She has been threatening me.” She sniffed ready to pull it all out. “She has a video recording of me from her fathers birthday party where I..” She paused and swallowed thickly like she was contemplating on what to say next or how to say it. “Where I took a diamond ring from Lady Violet without her knowledge.” She cleaned her eyes with the back of her hand. “I sold off the ring because I needed the money and when Tiara fo
Myra’s pov “What the fuck did you say?” Irene got on her feet as she glared at him with hard eyes. “I never asked him for such a thing.” She snarled and her voice trembled without control.“She hired me.” Nile repeated. His gaze fixed her. “I was at a bar having a drink a few weeks back. She offered to pay for my drinks and asked if I could do her a favor. She claimed we could make good money together. She seemed in desperate need of money, but was a bit reluctant to share the idea.. after a while she spilled out the beans and asked if I could get Myra to have a private time with me and keep recordings. She would pay me off after all of it. She gave me the Phene. She planned it all.” Nile said in one breath without flinching. “You must be out of your god damn mind.” Irene snapped. “He’s lying.” My eyes just kept moving between the both of them. “I have proof...”“Can I have my phone?” Nile asked and the Gamma warrior handed it over to him while keeping close watch of what he was
Myra’s pov“Please Stop! Please, I beg you, stop!” A stream of tears rolled down my cheek as I lay on the operating table. My stomach was throbbing in pain, my waist was on fire, and even the breath I took was accompanied by a sharp pain. It was too immense. My hands clasped on my stomach, prayi
Myra's POV:His touch for some odd reason burned my skin in ways I never expected. I immediately pulled my hand away from him and made my way out of the huge hall to the restroom, my heart pounding harshly in my chest. What was going on?He was supposed to be my father-in-law yet here I was, feeli
