Birthday Jitters

Ashley's POV

I frowned with my eyebrows almost reaching the other as my hands moved faster. Even with all my efforts, I could not still clean the stain. I sighed and leaned backward, almost wanting to give up. My eyes drooped slowly because of how sleepy I was, it was almost midnight.

"Ashley, the Luna calls for you," Riya, a maid like me, said boringly as she entered the kitchen but stopped abruptly when she saw what I was doing.

I nodded at her, getting up immediately. She glanced at me, almost as if she wanted to say something and I sighed, nodding to myself, "You don't have to clean it, I'll be back soon."

With that, I ran out of the huge kitchen with my curls bouncing beside me, feeling tired as ever. I loved my new look compared to what I used to be, especially when I had my glasses on. I was bullied then, by some losers in my pack, and I didn't like it.

But as I grew up, the sharpness of my eyes increased and with the adequate training from the Luna, I was able to work on my curvy shape, which brought me a lot of unwanted fans. They were like weeds in a garden that I wanted to pluck out.

I jumped up the stairs and hung suddenly when I saw a tall lean figure coming down and waited for him to pass a sign of respect.

His shoulder-length curls were packed up slightly, releasing some of their band. He looked so attractive and his aura was intense, I couldn't help but notice the difference between his body now and then when we were in middle school. He was also wearing a loose shirt and shorts, and he looked like he was prepared for bed.

I guess I was not the only one who changed.

Hearing my footsteps, his grey eyes shifted to my brown ones and he stopped too. My heart almost cut off because of his actions, he never noticed me, and he always found it very easy to pass me by. But for some reason, on this normal day, he stopped to look at me.

"Are you going to answer my mother?" He asked, with his voice a bit low and I shivered, cursing at myself because I wondered why I was attracted to it.

"Yes," I replied and he nodded at me, already looking elsewhere and making the face he used to make when he used to ignore me.

"Clean my room, Ashley. Before I come to bed," He ordered, and his footsteps continued as he passed me by. I looked up and saw two other maids coming down the stairs and with the disturbed looks on their faces, it seemed like they had a lot to say to me.

I knew why they did. Almost all the maids in this manor hated me. Luna Anna, my role model and a woman that I adored and loved so much, always looked at me, unlike her son.

For some reason, I was her favorite and she would tell me how great my destiny would be. Most times, I didn't understand but I knew that I liked to stay near her. I wanted to protect her at all costs but I was far too weak. An Omega, if I may add. That was why I was a maid.

In the Dark Moon pack, you were not allowed to be weak and everyone was to work, so automatically, Omegas were made workers or maids. But right from the start, when Luna Anna met me, she had always chosen me to be by her side when she was around. I was the only one allowed to clean her son's room, or hers. It made others hate me but I wasn't bothered because I was gathering enough knowledge.

She raised me, practically. She taught me how to deal with men without reaching the wolf state. She lectured me on my shape, speed, and agility and weirdly, she always told me stories about her son.

I shook my head suddenly, cleaning it off my thoughts as I reached the guards who secured her door. They nodded to me and I knocked, entering immediately.

The cold air hit me as soon as I came into the room and I smiled. This woman loved the chilliness. She sat on the bed, with her black straight hair, cascading down her shoulders, she wore a bright smile when she saw me and she looked effortlessly beautiful.

"My son just left, it appears that he wants no graduation celebration," She said lowly and I smiled.
