Chapter 3.

They spent the entire night wrapped in each other's arms, making love to each other like it was their last, him fucking her so hard like never before, and her surrendering to him in every possible way ,whispering promises that everything would somehow be alright.

Yet, even as she lay beside him, her thoughts drifted to the other man. She knew she had to call him and break the news that she was pregnant with twins. What she didn't have the slightest idea how to explain was the chilling possibility that the babies might not be his.

The second man was her ex-husband—the father of her teenage daughter. He was still deeply in love with her, having never moved on or remarried since their divorce.

He was the man who had accompanied her to every single gynaecologist appointment over the past year. They had sat down together, dreaming of the day their daughter would finally have a younger sibling. News of this pregnancy would mean everything to him. They would have celebrated every single milestone together—even if it ultimately meant she had to walk away from the forbidden love of her life.

For an entire year, she had been sleeping with her ex-husband three days a week, watching his long-dormant feelings for her reignite.

She dreaded to imagine his reaction when he discovered that he might not be the father, that she was considering an abortion, or that a prenatal DNA test was required first. Worst of all, he would find out that while they were actively trying to get pregnant, she was having a passionate affair with another man—leaving her utterly torn over who the true father was.

Morning arrived, and he woke up first to prepare breakfast for her while she remained in bed.

“Love,” he said gently, placing a tray beside her. “We need to start looking for a clinic that will perform a safe abortion.”

There was no hesitation or doubt in his voice. She watched him serve her, taking in every word as he continued.

“I’ll research the best facilities. I’ll make sure to find an experienced doctor, and I’ll secure the money for the procedure.”

He kept going, assuring her that there was nothing to fear, that terminating the pregnancy early was safe, and that he would be right by her side through every step. He promised this secret would die with them.

She understood where his urgency came from. If these babies were his and the truth ever got out, they would face severe social curses and immediate banishment. This was the weight of the secret they had carried for five years; both knew the catastrophic consequences of being exposed.

Yet, every word he spoke felt like a blade slicing through her heart. As he talked and she sat in heavy silence, clarity began to emerge through the pain: she could not go through with an abortion without getting a DNA test first.

Everything about this is wrong on every level, she thought, despair washing over her. Why would God allow this to happen?

As soon as she finished breakfast, she showered and dressed. The path forward was painfully clear.

It was the hardest choice she had ever had to face, but these twins were her flesh and blood. The thought of losing them—or risking her own life in a back-alley procedure—was destroying her from the inside out.

She couldn't help but wonder what her life would be like if she had never met the young man she loved so deeply. Their love would have been beautiful if it weren't forbidden, but reality was far more cruel.

In that exact moment, her resolve hardened. She had to call her ex-husband and tell him she was pregnant. If there was even a chance these twins were his, she had to take it and save their lives.
