Chapter 9 Waiting for You at the Civil Affairs Bureau

Returning home, she fell into a deep sleep until her phone started ringing non-stop. Vivien Eipstein, still drowsy, grabbed the phone from the bedside and answered it.

"Hello? Who is it?"

Her voice was a bit hoarse, carrying the remnants of sleepiness.

Who could be so inconsiderate to disturb someone's peaceful sleep this early in the morning?

"I'll be waiting for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau in thirty minutes. Don't be late."

Hearing Herbert Grantham's sexy voice, Vivien Eipstein, who was still half-asleep, jolted awake. She glanced at her phone; it was already 8:30 AM, leaving her with only thirty minutes to get ready.

Herbert Grantham did have some decency, at least he called ahead to let her know.

Otherwise, she might have really missed it.

Vivien Eipstein quickly got out of bed, washed up, and put on makeup. While doing her makeup, she called Cathy Jerome.

The phone rang for a long time before Cathy Jerome finally picked up.

Cathy Jerome's voice was groggy, "Who is it! It's so early, are you sick or something? Can't a person get any sleep?"

Vivien Eipstein said, "How's the investigation going on the thing I asked you about last night?"

Hearing Vivien Eipstein's voice, Cathy Jerome also became more alert, yawning as she spoke, "I've got it all figured out. Your ex-fiancé bribed the new bartender to slip something into your drink, planning to have someone take advantage of you and ruin your reputation..."

Vivien Eipstein laughed after hearing this.

"He's quite ruthless, isn't he? He must really hate me!"

Cathy Jerome told Vivien Eipstein, "That guy's methods were indeed pretty harsh, but no matter how ruthless he is, he's no match for your husband. Your husband has him completely under control."

Vivien Eipstein smiled, "Sounds like I should be grateful to him, then!"

Cathy Jerome joked, "You definitely should be grateful. Otherwise, you wouldn't have had the chance to battle it out with your husband for three hours in a bar. That's quite an impressive feat. You're in for a lot of happiness in the future."

Vivien Eipstein suddenly felt her back starting to ache again. Last night, that man hadn't shown her any mercy. He almost broke her back with his advanced techniques, and yet, he managed to maintain such stamina.

Thinking of this, Vivien Eipstein's face involuntarily turned red.

"Go back to sleep! I need to head to the Civil Affairs Bureau. I'm running out of time."

Cathy Jerome asked, "Aren't you just playing around? Are you really going to get married?"

Vivien Eipstein laughed, "If we're playing, we might as well go all the way. Getting a marriage certificate is no big deal, right?"

Cathy Jerome yawned, "Do whatever you want, just don't get too carried away. Herbert Grantham is not a simple man."

Vivien Eipstein smiled, "It's precisely because he's not simple that I chose him. If he were too simple, do you think I'd be interested in him?"

Cathy Jerome muttered, "What a twisted sense of humor."

After hanging up, Vivien Eipstein grabbed her small bag and headed out, looking beautiful.

Herbert Grantham arrived a few minutes early and saw that it was almost 9:00 AM. Yet, there was still no sign of Vivien Eipstein.

His assistant looked around anxiously, worried that Vivien Eipstein might not make it on time. It was rush hour, and traffic jams were likely.

But Herbert Grantham stood calmly at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, knowing that Vivien Eipstein would definitely come.

Vivien Eipstein, feeling hungry, appeared in front of Herbert Grantham in the last few seconds, holding an oily fried dough stick in one hand and a bowl of porridge in the other.

Herbert Grantham: "..."

Vivien Eipstein greeted him enthusiastically, "Hello, good morning, hubby!"

Herbert Grantham looked at her expressionlessly. They both wore white outfits, which, coincidentally, looked like matching couple outfits. The assistant couldn't help but take a few extra glances, thinking that the president and Miss Ning actually looked quite compatible.

"Let's go in," Herbert Grantham said, his eyes lingering on Vivien Eipstein's greasy hands, clearly displeased.

Vivien Eipstein quickly finished the remaining bites of her fried dough stick and gulped down the porridge in two sips. Her appearance was like a starving ghost reborn.

Was she really the daughter of the Eipstein family?
