Chapter 9 Waiting for You at the Civil Affairs Bureau

Author: Tangxiaoran
Returning home, she fell into a deep sleep until her phone started ringing non-stop. Vivien Eipstein, still drowsy, grabbed the phone from the bedside and answered it.

"Hello? Who is it?"

Her voice was a bit hoarse, carrying the remnants of sleepiness.

Who could be so inconsiderate to disturb someone's peaceful sleep this early in the morning?

"I'll be waiting for you at the Civil Affairs Bureau in thirty minutes. Don't be late."

Hearing Herbert Grantham's sexy voice, Vivien Eipstein, who was still half-asleep, jolted awake. She glanced at her phone; it was already 8:30 AM, leaving her with only thirty minutes to get ready.

Herbert Grantham did have some decency, at least he called ahead to let her know.

Otherwise, she might have really missed it.

Vivien Eipstein quickly got out of bed, washed up, and put on makeup. While doing her makeup, she called Cathy Jerome.

The phone rang for a long time before Cathy Jerome finally picked up.

Cathy Jerome's voice was groggy, "Who is it! It's so early, are you sick or something? Can't a person get any sleep?"

Vivien Eipstein said, "How's the investigation going on the thing I asked you about last night?"

Hearing Vivien Eipstein's voice, Cathy Jerome also became more alert, yawning as she spoke, "I've got it all figured out. Your ex-fiancé bribed the new bartender to slip something into your drink, planning to have someone take advantage of you and ruin your reputation..."

Vivien Eipstein laughed after hearing this.

"He's quite ruthless, isn't he? He must really hate me!"

Cathy Jerome told Vivien Eipstein, "That guy's methods were indeed pretty harsh, but no matter how ruthless he is, he's no match for your husband. Your husband has him completely under control."

Vivien Eipstein smiled, "Sounds like I should be grateful to him, then!"

Cathy Jerome joked, "You definitely should be grateful. Otherwise, you wouldn't have had the chance to battle it out with your husband for three hours in a bar. That's quite an impressive feat. You're in for a lot of happiness in the future."

Vivien Eipstein suddenly felt her back starting to ache again. Last night, that man hadn't shown her any mercy. He almost broke her back with his advanced techniques, and yet, he managed to maintain such stamina.

Thinking of this, Vivien Eipstein's face involuntarily turned red.

"Go back to sleep! I need to head to the Civil Affairs Bureau. I'm running out of time."

Cathy Jerome asked, "Aren't you just playing around? Are you really going to get married?"

Vivien Eipstein laughed, "If we're playing, we might as well go all the way. Getting a marriage certificate is no big deal, right?"

Cathy Jerome yawned, "Do whatever you want, just don't get too carried away. Herbert Grantham is not a simple man."

Vivien Eipstein smiled, "It's precisely because he's not simple that I chose him. If he were too simple, do you think I'd be interested in him?"

Cathy Jerome muttered, "What a twisted sense of humor."

After hanging up, Vivien Eipstein grabbed her small bag and headed out, looking beautiful.

Herbert Grantham arrived a few minutes early and saw that it was almost 9:00 AM. Yet, there was still no sign of Vivien Eipstein.

His assistant looked around anxiously, worried that Vivien Eipstein might not make it on time. It was rush hour, and traffic jams were likely.

But Herbert Grantham stood calmly at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, knowing that Vivien Eipstein would definitely come.

Vivien Eipstein, feeling hungry, appeared in front of Herbert Grantham in the last few seconds, holding an oily fried dough stick in one hand and a bowl of porridge in the other.

Herbert Grantham: "..."

Vivien Eipstein greeted him enthusiastically, "Hello, good morning, hubby!"

Herbert Grantham looked at her expressionlessly. They both wore white outfits, which, coincidentally, looked like matching couple outfits. The assistant couldn't help but take a few extra glances, thinking that the president and Miss Ning actually looked quite compatible.

"Let's go in," Herbert Grantham said, his eyes lingering on Vivien Eipstein's greasy hands, clearly displeased.

Vivien Eipstein quickly finished the remaining bites of her fried dough stick and gulped down the porridge in two sips. Her appearance was like a starving ghost reborn.

Was she really the daughter of the Eipstein family?

She had seen through him completely.Wang Qiancheng looked at Cathy Jerome, indeed feeling anxious. He never expected her to remain so calm! For a moment, he couldn't find any words. The assistant was happier than anyone else to learn that the president was coming back. Knowing that the president would arrive soon, he had already been waiting outside. When he saw the president and his wife come out, the assistant was moved to tears. Herbert Grantham's face didn't look good, so he ignored the assistant. Seeing Herbert Grantham's poor complexion, the assistant immediately arranged for a driver to take him to the hospital. After being examined at the hospital, it was found that the cause of all these problems was the spread of blood clots in his brain. It might have been due to a heavy blow or something else that caused the blood clot to spread. This wasn't a good thing. But it was dangerous inside the brain. No one dared to perform this surgery, so they could only let Herbert Grantham stay in the hospital for observation. However, Herbert Grantham didn't like staying in the hospital. He was such a clean freak that if he could avoid staying in the hospital, he would n

Upon their return, it wasn't as safe as they had hoped; many were injured. To protect those who were defenseless, they had no choice but to fight fiercely. In the deep forest, they encountered numerous challenges. After enduring great hardships, they finally emerged. The moment Cathy Jerome saw the outside world, she felt like she had been reborn. This feeling was truly wonderful. However, when they came out, only a few of their subordinates were waiting for them. It turned out that Zhang Zhongxuan, worried about them, had led a team into the forest to search for them. Within half a day, he nearly got himself killed. Someone who went in was bitten by a venomous, colorful spider and had to be injected with antivenom. They were rushed to the hospital but were still in critical condition. Cathy Jerome was speechless, yet she understood that Zhang Zhongxuan was just worried about them. They had indeed spent too much time inside, especially with the tribal matters, which kept them there for

The black snake had been relentlessly pursuing Cathy Jerome, perhaps because there was something on her that it desired. Seeing Cathy Jerome still leading the black snake around in circles, Vivien Eipstein shouted to her, "Cathy Jerome, follow us."Upon hearing this, Cathy Jerome led the giant snake in a loop and then dashed directly towards Herbert Grantham and Vivien Eipstein. Cathy Jerome was quite fast, but the giant snake was even faster. She couldn't go in a straight line and had to keep weaving around.Fortunately, the forbidden area wasn't too far from them, and they quickly reached it. Herbert Grantham held Vivien Eipstein's hand and said, "There are many traps here. Tell Cathy Jerome to be careful."Vivien Eipstein nodded and called out to Cathy Jerome, who wasn't far away, "Cathy Jerome, watch your step; there are traps everywhere here." Cathy Jerome nodded in response, "Okay."Just as she finished speaking, Cathy Jerome felt something under her foot. It must have been a

Herbert Grantham's brow furrowed, "Oh no, the snake is a deity worshipped here. The people of this tribe have great faith in the Snake God. By killing the snake in front of them, you've desecrated their deity. They won't let this go."Cathy Jerome, of course, knew this; otherwise, why would she be so anxious to get everyone to leave? Now, even if they jumped into the Yellow River, they couldn't wash away the stain. The only solution was to leave this place.Vivien Eipstein was also somewhat surprised, "Since that's the case, to avoid unnecessary trouble, we should leave as quickly as possible!"But no matter how fast they were, they couldn't outpace the tribespeople, who had already surrounded the area. The place was swarming with people, all armed with tools like hoes and scythes. Clearly, they had no intention of letting them go.Vivien Eipstein had brought eight people and Fu Yunmo, making a total of nine. To break through, they would have to kill these people, as there was

Vivien Eipstein exerted all her strength and finally managed to convey her needs to them. After understanding Vivien Eipstein's intentions, they brought Sang Cha over. The moment Vivien Eipstein saw Sang Cha, her eyes lit up. "Sang Cha, is that really you?"Sang Cha was also delighted to see Vivien Eipstein. "It's me."Vivien Eipstein was almost in tears with excitement. "It's so good to see you. If I hadn't seen you, I would have started to doubt everything."Sang Cha comforted Vivien Eipstein, "Don't worry. We just ended up in a small ethnic tribe. This tribe has been living here for many years, isolated from the outside world. Their lifestyle is almost like that of ancient people—self-sufficient, hunting, and gathering wild fruits..."Vivien Eipstein was stunned. She hadn't expected to end up in such a place. It was quite a moving experience.Sang Cha reassured Vivien Eipstein, "Don't worry. Except for Cathy Jerome, everyone else was rescued by the people here and is safe. Yo
