Chapter Two–Accident

The sun rays peek from the glass window, falling on her face, the sun kisses lightly on her cheeks, the warmth waking her up.

She forgot to pull the blinds. yesterday before she slept.

Yesterday?

When did she get back to the room? She didn't remember going to the room, did she sleepwalk?

The hot breath falling gently on her shoulder, hands on her tummy, and with legs crossing hers, making it obvious.

A smile curved from the side of her lips as snuggled in between his arms, coming face to face with him. He looks so charming even when he sleeps.

Brushing his bangs away from his face, his sleek hair came in contact with her soft fingers making her whole body shivers. She traces his face with her eyes going from his brows, to his long white lashes, chiseled jaw, and thin peach lips.

They stayed like that for some moment, he was deeply in his sleep without feeling her eyes staring at him. She came to her senses when her stomach rumbled, that was when she realized she went to sleep without eating dinner, waiting for his return.

Slowly she got out of his arms and out of bed without waking him up. His shoes were still on and she removed the shoes and some of his buttons before going to tend to her empty stomach.

She makes a quick coffee and toast and gulps them down.

It was almost 10 and he was still in bed. She went to wake him up but looking at how peacefully he was enjoying his sleep made her go back on her word and allow him to continue his sleep. Besides, greenish-black bags under his eyes have to vanish, he needs his beauty sleep. He had been staying late for the whole week, he needed his rest.

In the meantime she did some housework, unpacked the books in those boxes, and decided to go buy some groceries for lunch before he woke up.

She had to pour away yesterday's food because she didn't store it well after knowing he won't eat it and drifting up to sleep.

000ooo000

Areena entered the room with a bag in her hand after pushing the door close with her leg. There is no sign of him in the sitting room or kitchen or bathroom, meaning he's probably sleeping!

Seriously, is he spending the whole day sleeping? When she's finally going to spend some quality time with him. She kept the bag in the kitchen heading to the bedroom to wake him up.

"Ed, you seriously need to wake up now, it's almost nooooooon."

Prolonging the noon when her eyes landed on the phone screen, seeing it was already 12:12 pm.

"It's noon already," she mumbled, opening the door. He saw him sitting on the bed, eyes on his screen, he seemed distressed. But when she entered he maintained his composure, hiding his distressed face away, and greeted her with a smile.

"Morning, Arii love."

He greeted her with a broad smile, making her roll her eyes, looking everywhere but at him. He's trying to coax her with his charms.

"It's noon already."

She pouted and threw the covers off him. Even though she was not angry at him, she had to pretend to be angry for skipping dinner for the whole week.

"I overslept, and you didn't wake me." He paused and kept his phone away, stretching his arms, but continued when he saw she ignored him.

"You can't blame me when I have this big bundle of soft bear next to me."

He uttered, pulling her into his arms. He knows she is pretending to be mad at him about last night, he has been promising to make up for her and he has to do that soon.

"I woke up at nine in the morning."

She struggled to get out of his arms but she couldn't break free from his strong arms. Not like that's what she wanted, she wished to stay in his arms forever.

"I'm sorry about yesterday, I was busy with work and something important came up ... I ... I'll" His voice softened as he whispered into her ears, full of regret and guilt, he paused, thinking about what to tell her this time around.

"You must be hungry, go wash up, I'll make you lunch ... No breakfast ... Or maybe brunch?"

She breaks free from his hug changing the topic, figuring out what dish she'll make for him.

Although she wanted to complain about his late nights, she doesn't want to be nagging at him all the time like an obsessed jealous wife. Is not that he was cheating on her, or maybe yes he was having a date with his late night shift.

Even though she wants to know what's the 'important something' that came up, mentally air quoting. The important thing. What is more important than her?

But she couldn't ask, Ed would tell her if it was something she needed to know. They are adults now, sometimes they have to see through things, and let go.

Besides, she doesn't want his promises that another busy schedule would break. What matters is that he's here now, so why dwell on the past? When they can still enjoy the time they have together.

"Yes please, I'm extra hungry, I can eat you whole."

He winked at her, making her blush, she opened then closed her mouth shaking her head she went out of the room quickly.

Seriously flirting early in the morning ... No noon.

Uuugh.

"Seriously, it's noon already."

Muttering to herself trying to hide her flushed cheeks. Now, one-fourth of their weekend was wasted, by sleeping.

She gets into the kitchen and prepares his favorite breakfast.

30 mins passed and she was almost done, she didn't hear him enter the bathroom, as he was still on his phone.

"Ed!" she nagged, calling him on top of her voice echoing in the empty house. "Your breakfast is ready." She exclaimed, she wanted him to come out, and he came out within seconds, which makes her proud of her bait. Foodie.

"Something smells good!!" He chirped, sniffing the good aroma.

"Cappuccino with ... with Croissant boats?!! You really are such a sweetheart Arii."

He confirms and jumps up in the air like a little boy receiving his favorite toy on Christmas, then leaves to brush his teeth.

It was one of his favorite breakfasts and it holds a good memory of the time when they were in high school.

A broad smile appeared on her face, as she remembered the memory, her cheeks and the tip of her ear turning red.

Their high school and college were filled with romantic memories.

They were blindly in love and didn't care about the outcome, or their families approval, being in a Forbidden Love, the community and their families didn't approve of it. But they are stubborn enough and won't let anyone or some history bring an end to their relationship, so they ran away together.

Not before Ed's dad disowned him and cut him off from any of the luxuries completely, but they had been saving for a long time. So, they survived college but after that life went a little hard looking for a job, but being together with each other makes them strong and they've survived, which brought them to who they are now.

Areena got lecturing at a university and Ed managed to open his own company after two years of working as a secretary. But after opening his new company it takes all of his time and more–his love life.

Areena heaved, remembering their struggles as Ed came out of the bathroom. Just when she finished setting his plate.

"Right in time." He smiled from ear to ear seeing his food ready, pulling the chair he sat down on.

She just stared at him as he ate while doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen.

"Come and sit with me." He uttered munching on his food.

"I've eaten," Areena replied, washing the dishes she used.

"But not a croissant boat." He pointed out making stopped, she washed her hands and sat next to him on the kitchen island.

"Haaan." He cut a bite towards her mouth motioning to open her mouth.

Just then his phone vibrates, peeping at it while giving her, making it land on her nose instead.

"Ed?" She whined making him look up at her, seeing sauce on the tip of her nose and the poppy face she made him chuckle.

He eats the lump and leans in, licking the sauce off the tip of her nose.

"I'm full, eat up, I'll go take a shower."

He said and picked up his phone and headed to the bathroom.

OOoooOO

Both of them entered the black car in front of their house, ready to meet the woman who was in charge of their wedding plans.

They agreed on having a simple wedding with just a few colleagues but after their lunch, Ed said he would prefer a much bigger wedding, inviting many people and having events because he'll invite his company partner and business colleagues, some old mates, and stuff. And he would be busy in the next month, so they'll have it after he's done with his busy schedule. In two months' time.

Though she didn't like most of the ideas of a big wedding and extending their wedding date, she had to comply with his needs too.

He booked a wedding planner and they would be meeting her by 4 pm. It's 15 minutes to four and they are on their way to meet her. He would be going to another meeting by 6 pm, after this.

Areena sat in the car, with many thoughts in her mind staring at the road lost in her world.

"Hey, you look down. Did you want to get married to me this badly?"

She was awkwardly silent so he wanted to cheer her up. He knows she won't let go but she answers him.

"Yes, isn't it the next part of our dream? Get a stable job, and move to our apartment ..." She answered genuinely not minding his flirt.

"Get married, have kids, grow old together."

He competed along with her.

"I know, but it has been just a month since we moved in Arii, and things are not calm in my company." he soothed her.

"It's not like we must move to the next goal in a month. We can't have kids by the upper month, can we?" He joked, chuckling "Have ..."

The ringing of his phone made him pause, looking at his phone.

"Excuse me, I have to take this,"

Ari nodded and he connected his phone to the car, picking up the call, it's always about business.

Everything he said makes sense, what's wrong with her, she just wanted him all for myself ... She is jealous of his work taking all his time.

She nagged knowing everything has to take time and do it gently.

"No, don't you dare ... "

His voice was high bringing her attention back to him? When their eyes met he couldn't continue his sentence.

"I'll call you in a minute."

l

He called, looking ahead to where he could stop the car, finding an excuse to get out of the car.

"Want some popcorn?"

"Why would I wa..."

"I'm craving some popcorn right now, let me get us some."

He parked the car immediately and went out before she could complete it.

"We'll be late for the meeting."

She mumbled aside, looking at him through the window, he was already talking on his phone while entering the shop.

It was obvious he just wanted to make that phone call. She rolled her eyes. This was the third time he was giving lame excuses to go make a call.

But why didn't he want her to hear about his work? That means it was not about work.

10 minutes passed and he was still in the shop. And when he came out, he was still making the call. What is this important? Her eyes wandered around and they landed on a 'no parking' sign board.

"Ed, that sigh board said no packing here."

She spoke, informing him as he entered the car keeping the phone, he passed the pack of popcorn to her.

"Don't worry, I didn't take that long and we would just move ..."

He spoke, putting on his seatbelt, ready to drive the car. But Areena's scream made him stop, his eyes widened seeing a trunk coming at them at fast speed.

"Ed, Drive... Drive!"

Before Edward could do anything the big trunk that was approaching their car at high speed collided with the side of the car where Ari was sitting.

Boom.

The world stopped, she forgot how to scream, or do anything, her body was numb and time moved in slow motion, her sight was blurry, she could hear Ed's voice but couldn't tell what he was saying. Her head hit the front of the trunk that crashed into their car. And she fell unconscious, as blackness overcame her.
