Chapter 34: The Magistrate

Edward knelt near the unconscious bodies and checked their pulse. He buried his two fingers onto the sides of their necks and he confirmed that they were dead. The hallway had blood splattered all over. I saw Kane’s dagger had blood on it too. He was heavily gasping for air.

“He got away,” Kane snorted. He was wounded too.

“How? He was already wounded.” Edward said.

“He had help. We were ambushed by other witches. The soldiers were compelled by witches and made them fight me. I had no choice but to kill them all,” Kane grunted.

“There are others nearby, just keep your eyes open, Luke,” Edward commanded.

“What about dad?” I asked.

“You do not need to worry about your dad, Luke. He is one of the great hunters in our era,” Edward mused.

We started to sprint out of the building, following the trails of blood from the male witch wounded by Edward&rs
