Cassie sat at the back seat of the car, staring blankly at mostly nothing but greenery. Alex was behind the wheel and they were somewhere on the outskirts of town now, in-between forests; mostly just trees. Cassie liked the serenity around the location as there were hardly any cars plying the route, which made the drive now super quiet and lonely, but for their occasional chatter. She loved the trees that filled the area, perfectly lined up, like they had been deliberately planted in that manner.
Cassie wasn’t familiar with the collection of French contemporary artists of the millennium, but for some weird reason, she enjoyed this particular album by Jane Fostin. She wished she had taken her French classes more seriously, maybe she would have known what the song was about. But all of that didn’t stop her from enjoying the sweet soothing melody that blasted from the radio.“Why aren’t you worried? We could be kidnapping you; you know?” Aaron says, instantly getting Cassie’s attention.Alex turns down the volume of the radio as he watches Cassie through the rear-view mirror. She raises a brow in confusion, almost like she had believed what Aaron had just said, before shaking her head and smiling“Or I could be the one kidnapping you two” Cassie refutes, moving to the center of the backseat and going closer to the men“Not possible, we’re the ones taking you somewhere”“Yes, but what if all of this was the plan. Me, coming to your office, knowing fully well you’d bring me here” Cassie tells them, mostly talking to Aaron, as Alex hadn’t said anything.“Smart move, but you don’t know where we’re taking you” Aaron tells her“Like I said, all part of the plan” Cassie says with a grin“Let it go, she’ll win” Alex finally says, shaking his head as the two finally stop“It’s best you listen to him Aaron” Cassie says with a giggle“I like the sound of my name on your lips” Aaron says, not turning to her, his eyes on the road with a smirk on his face, like he was talking to the road ahead. But Cassie knew he was definitely talking to her, her body could feel it too.“In that case, I’m not calling your name again” Cassie tells him“You better remember these words” Alex says with a smile on his face, before taking the next turn on his right. What did he mean by that? And since when did Alex start to smile? Cassie could not wrap her head around the last part of their conversation, but could only wonder if they were all on the same page, because it didn’t feel like they were.Alex takes another turn to the left almost immediately, pulling into a short pathway leading to what is an entrance to a massive mansion beyond the black stump. It looked like something out of the movies, where families came for Christmas holidays and something magical would happen. The drive way was decorated with little bulbs; Cassie imagined what they would look like when put on. She watches Alex drive a few meters more, before finally parking in front of the building. It was an upscale custom- built home with recessed lighting, soaring ceilings and lush landscaping providing ample space for a mini golf course, in a highly coveted terrain. It had a built-in pool, a large cellar and the flooring was made from Brazilian cherry solid wood“So, what do you think?” Aaron asked Cassie on their way down the stairs, after having a tour of the property“It’s beautiful, a remarkable find” Cassie responds, still looking around“Thank you” Aaron responds, feeling proud.“How did you guys even find this place?” Cassie asks, turning to Alex, who had been silent all through“Perks of being in a real estate business” Alex responds with a shrug, as the three head towards the front door *****************************************************************“Don’t you two have work to do?” Cassie asks, wondering why they would prefer going on a tour around town“We don’t begin until Thursday actually. Just needed to get out of the house” Aaron confesses“Oh! I see, okay then, what do you guys have in mind?” Cassie asks, now getting excited“I’d like a drink” Aaron tells her smiling“This early in the day?” Cassie asks, staring at him with wide eyes“He has his moments” Alex tells her“Well then, I think I know the best place” Cassie says with a grin, before picking out her phone from her bagThe drive to Roger’s palace was filled with mostly Aaron and Cassie’s voices and occasionally, Alex’s. Aaron talked about their plans of moving into the house and Cassie told them about the new book she had been working on. They let her talk all through the drive, while Aaron kept asking her questions after questions, which she seemed to enjoy. Cassie was amused on how focused Alex was on the road, it was like the moment his palms touched the steering, he was in a whole new world. It made her feel important every time he would shift his focus to her and give a smile or say something regarding her story. She enjoyed every moment with them and liked how carefree she could be around them. She knew for certain that she was attracted to them, but it was slowly becoming easier to handle. It would pass; she would remind herself each time her fantasies began to take over.“We’re here” Alex declaresThe two men tilt their heads to take a good look at the building in front of them and Cassie giggles at how confused they looked. Roger’s palace always had that effect on newbies, Cassie knew that very much“Are you sure we’re at the right place?” Alex turns, asking Cassie“We are, come on now” she tells them, stepping out of the carThe two men followed Cassie closely, staring around and taking note of the people that walked in and out of the building. From the outside, it was just an ordinary building, but when they got inside, it looked like a whole different story. There was a mini bar at the end of the room, with a large pool table adjacent to it and where the living room should have been had been turned into a dance floor for people. There were bean bags placed at every corner of the room with dim lights around that gave it an aura of intimacy.“Wow” Aaron finally says“I know, I said the same the first time I came here” Cassie tells him, taking both their hands and pulling them further into the house. They brushed pass random people who were drinking, talking, and having pockets of funCassie shows them to some empty seats and heads to the bar to get them drinks.“Hey Carl!” Cassie calls“Cas! Its been a while!” The young man at the other side of the bar says with excitement as he gives Cassie a hug through the counter“I know Carl, I’m sorry” Cassie apologizes with a smile“All’s forgiven, is B here?” Carl asks, looking around“No, he’s at work. Can I have two beers and a coke? And don’t forget my favorite” Cassie smiles at him“Say no more. Dad misses you, come over one of these day’s” Carl said before turning away to get her order.“Two beers for you two and the rest for me” Cassie says after getting back with their drinks and settling down“Can I smoke here?” Alex asks, taking Cassie by surprise with his question. She had not imagined him to be a smoker, she had not imagined any of them to be smokers.“Look around Alex” she says sarcastically, with a smile,The music that filled the air was relaxing, Alex takes out a joint, placing it in-between his lips and just on cue, Aarons brings out a lighter, lighting the joint for Alex, who pulls the smoke into his lungs.Cassie could see how his muscles relaxed after a couple of puffs; she enjoyed his lips as they made the needed movements in smoking. She had not realized how much she missed smoking until now. She suddenly felt herself craving a few puffs“Can i?” she asks, talking to AlexHe gives her a nod, almost choking in an attempt to answer, before passing the joint to her. Cassie takes in a few puffs and leans back into her chair letting herself relax fully and enjoy the euphoria. The music seemed to grow louder and as it did, Cassie could no more resist the urge to join the people on the dance floor. She passes the joint back to Alex who looks at her and nods again as he receives it. Cassie knew she had fought the urge way too much, so she decides to give in. She gets up and heads to the dance floor, getting lost in a world of her own as she sways her hips from side to side. There was a parting within the crowd on the dance floor, through which Cassie weaves her way, instantly dancing faster to the loud music. She throws her head backwards and balances her hand on her hips. She can suddenly perceive the strong smell of the joint and a presence around her, so she opens her eyes to see Alex standing in front of her. She smiles at him, takes the joint from him, puffs it, passes it back and eases back into her dancing, this time aware that Alex is just beside her. She could feel him close to her and she liked how he wasn’t going anywhere. She feels his muscular hands snap around her waist, and she tilts her head as he pulls her towards himself. He grabs her hands as she spins around letting go while he does a moonwalk. He looked like he too was enjoying the loud music. Cassie turns around, giving him her back and letting his both hands find their way around her waist as she begins a slow wind. She spins around again and looks across to where they were sit
Cassie cannot stop thinking about their impending trip to Korea and her chance to finally convince Mr. Parks to publish her bestseller. She had been preparing for this opportunity and all she needed to do now was get over the line; whatever it took. There was still a little over forty- eight hours before they were scheduled to depart but she was already feeling a little anxious. She had dedicated time specially to go over the work again, making sure every chapter was near perfect. This was a once in a life time opportunity and she wanted to make it count. These past few days, she had hardly spent time with the boys, as most of the time they would have left for work before she found the time to come downstairs and by the time they got back, she was already either tucked in bed or too engrossed in her editing.Alex and Aaron had been preoccupied with meetings all week long. They were introduced to the staff; including Brandon and Mr. Cho whom they recalled from the day Cassie had s
Cassie had done her final packing arrangements and had gotten off the phone with Brandon, who was trying to help her feel a bit more relaxed, not like it had worked though. She had not managed to get any quality sleep all night, so she finally gave up trying and had gotten out of bed by five. She was excited and anxious about the trip because she had never been to Korea all her life. It was one of her favorite places, considering how addicted she was to Korean drama. Traveling had never really been a thing she did often; between raising her and work, her dad never really got the chance to take her on travel vacations. She did what she could to at least see a handful of places and she often wondered if it was because she was a writer that made traveling so poetic for her, but she loved the mere thought of new people, new cultures, new beliefs and everything that came with vising a new place. Here she was, going to one of her dream countries to fulfill one of her greatest dream; h
Cassie had been asleep for a while now, she had woken up a few times to use the rest, eat and have a little chat with the boys. She had gradually fallen asleep again when Aaron informed her that they were just less than two hours away from Seoul. The guys were used to flying and both of them were wide awake, Alex had been engrossed in the Call of duty he was playing on his tablet while Aaron scribbled translations from a foreign language which he was currently pursuing knowledge in. Aaron was now helping himself to a couple of shots of Jack DanielsCassie wakes up slowly to the feeling of someone’s hand on hers. She realizes and quickly shuts her eyes, as she hears whispers beside her, turning a little, like she is trying to settle in a bit more comfortably, in such a way that she could listen into the conversation more. A part of her felt bad, but she was just curious to know what the boys talked about when she wasn’t around. She finally made out the voice beside her and it was A
Cassie decides not to dwell on whether the two men were jealous or not. She was glad they had finally landed, after what seemed like a lifetime in the air; looking forward to visiting the Hangang Art park, and most importantly, going to make sure that she returned back home with an agreement to publish her book, from Mr. Parks. The drive to the hotel was mostly quiet as Cassie let her eyes do most of the work, except for when she had the conversation with Yang regarding the famous world’s highest glass floor she’d seen on YouTube, and was hoping to experience in person, as well as the occasional chattering between Alex and Aaron about work related stuff. Cassie felt really exhausted and she couldn’t wait to get a warm bath and real bed.Aaron had called Mr. Grant earlier, informing him that they had arrived safely, been picked up by Yang, and right on schedule for their meeting in a few hours. Cassie had deduced from the conversation that Mr. Grant was most likely the owner of som
Cassie relaxes into her bed, her head swirling with sinful thoughts of the guys in the other room. She let herself wonder what their room looked like, and what they were probably up to, concluding to herself that they only had just about enough time to freshen up and head out for the meeting with Mr. Grant. She had the luxury of the river view from her room and had just gotten out of a really relaxing tea soak which she couldn’t wait to tell Brandon about. She grabs her phone, just as she remembers that she hadn’t spoken to him since they had boarded, and immediately connects to the Wi-Fi, before opening face time“Hey ya” Cassie screams into the phone just as he picks up “Look who’s in Seoul” she adds excitedly“And look who’s at work” Brandon says, without looking at Cassie. His eyes were glued to the papers in front of him“Oh shit! Different time zones!” Cassie exclaims in surprise, she had totally forgotten about that“Hold on Cas” Brandon says, his eyes still on the work
Cassie’s meeting with Mr. Parks was concluded in less than fifteen minutes. He had informed her that Parks Publishers would be bringing out her book, subject to finalizing some finer details in the agreement, which would be signed at the start of the new year. Cassie was ecstatic. She thanked him repeatedly for the opportunity, shook his hands and walked out all over the moon “Someone looks happy” Aaron says with a huge smile as Cassie emerges from the meeting room where she had just seen Mr. Parks“Who might that be?” Cassie asks, smiling uncontrollably“Good news I’m guessing, you seem overjoyed” Alex states with a chuckle“Thanks to the both of you. I’m off to meet Yang” Cassie tells the boys, as she picks out her phone from her bag“Have fun Cas” Aaron says, gently placing a kiss on her forehead. Even though it had happened before, the gesture still came as a surprise, and she still melted at the feeling of his lips on her forehead. Just as Aaron withdraws his lips, she
“I’m sorry B, did I wake you up? I keep forgetting it’s a different time zone” Cassie says, trying to be apologetic while being jubilant“Its fine, so what’s up?” Brandon replies, rubbing his sleepy eyes“I just couldn’t wait; I had to give you the news” she says delightedly “You know, I literally set my alarm to remind me to call you in an hour, when I anticipated your meeting would be over” He declares “Awwwn, look at you, caring about me and shit” Cassie jokes“Oh shut it Adams. How was the meeting?” Brandon asks, ending Cassie’s jokes“It took barely fifteen” Cassie tells him“You’re kidding” Brandon says in disbelief“I’m not and it went perfectly well” she tells him“That’s my girl! I’m so happy for you” Brandon returns excitedly“Thank you, I still can’t believe I’m finally getting my book published and at Park’s Publishers” Cassie tells him, “Tell me about it, you know what?” Brandon asks“What?” Cassie enquires“We’re definitely celebrating as soon as you’re b
