Chapter 6

The ride up is silent and almost uncomfortable, Cassie keeps staring at each floor button light up, waiting for the doors to open up. She’s grateful for what Alex and Aaron have done, yes it came as a surprise, a really out of this world surprise and it was like all her dreams were finally falling into place

She knew they had just played major roles in letting that happen, yet, she didn’t know how to appreciate them appropriately in words. How was she supposed to start? What was she to say? She already felt the awkwardness strangulating the air in the elevator with them

They had just become a part of her life yesterday and they were already doing so much, it was insane, but she loved every bit of it. Before she could distract herself with some other random thought, the elevator doors slid open

“This way” Aaron tells her, gesturing to the direction of what she recalled, used to be the boss’s office

Cassie spent most of her days in Brandon’s work place, every free time she got, she would come and meet him, they would chat a little and she would find a quiet place to write. So, she knew almost everyone and everywhere within this building. Often times, even the workers in the building would jokingly refer to her as one of them, that was how much of her presence she graced them with.

Cassie looks to the office by her right, hoping to see Brandon, but he was too focused on the cataloging he was doing to even notice her. She waves at Cho, the senior maintenance officer for the company. Cho responds with a confused stare, definitely wondering what she was doing here and why she was heading into the boss’s office with two gorgeous men.

Well, if it made her feel any less confused, she didn’t know why either. What sort of relationship did Alex and Aaron have with the boss that they could stroll into his office with ease, like they owned the place?

“Please sit” Aaron tells her, with a commanding tone.

Cassie takes a sit at what is an elegantly styled waiting space, consisting of two average sized mini sofas, a round, small tempered glass table with a bowl of chocolates on top of it. She couldn’t stop staring at the enormous space she was in; it was huge to say the least. Everything in it screamed expensive, from choice of furniture and marble on the floors, to the color of the wall paint and window blinds. She felt a little out of place here.

It was a beautiful and cozy office. There were two work tables within the office, one facing a large window from which one could see the beautiful city landscape, which was made from polished wood, fitted with a customized reclinable chair and set of drawers for file storage.

The other was an executive glass desk with a swiveling chair, an iMac and a desk jet printer sitting atop of it. She assumed the polished wood was definitely Alex’s while the glass desk felt like Aaron’s.

“Would you like something to drink?” Alex asks her as he walks over to his table

“No, I’m good, thank you” Cassie replies.

“Didn’t think you were the kind that would want to work with Andrew” Alex tells her, while taking a sit right in front of her

“Andrew?” she asks, totally forgetting Mr. Park’s first name

“Yes, Mr. Park?” he says

“Oh. Well, he’s good at what he does and he’s a known man” she explains

“True. We’re sorry if we stole the conversation earlier, we just wanted to help” Aaron tells her, taking a sit beside her

She notices that Aaron has a tattoo and was spotting a black suit which was unbuttoned, with no tie, a slim fit casual suit pants, his hair styled sideways and brown leather casual loafers while Alex was wearing a grey turtle neck with straight dark blue pants and black suede shoes.

Cassie could not understand why they were sorry, they had just made her day and also made her dreams begin to come true. There was absolutely nothing for them to be sorry for, she was grateful. She was the one who was supposed to be sorry for not saying thank you, yet.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. I really want to say thank you for helping me out, you have no idea how much work I’ve put in just to meet Mr. Park. Now here I am, flying to Korea just for a meeting, thank you guys so, so much” Cassie says, restraining herself from hugging them both. She really was excited and grateful

“It’s our pleasure. Plus, you finally get to know one of our new companies, a real win-win for all of us” Aaron tells her with a smile.

One of their companies? Of fucking hell! It all made sense. Alexander did mention that they had bought a few real estate companies in town and Brandon was working in one of the biggest real estate companies, she had totally skipped the possibility. So, her new step brothers were now her best friend’s bosses, her life was beginning to be novel worthy, indeed!

“Indeed, it is” she tells them with a smile, acting like she had known earlier

“Well then” Alex cuts in and Cassie turns to his direction

“We’ve got something to show you” he tells her while managing a smile.

Cassie wondered if she had ever seen him smile

“Me?” she asks anxiously

“Yes, you. Come on” Aaron says, before getting up.

Cassie stares at them as they both pick up their coats to leave, watching them dress up only made Cassie imagine them undressing. She shakes her head at how far she had let her thoughts wander, bringing herself back to reality. They boys pick their phones on their work space, Alex adding the car keys to his phone that he had picked

“I drove here” Cassie exclaims, talking to no one in particular

“We know. Louisa would get it back home safely, don’t you worry” Aaron tells her while he walks towards the door.

Cassie remains unmoved. Why was she not walking towards the door? She wondered. She savored on the sight of the two men, how they moved, acknowledged each other and communicated without words. Just watching them was enough reason for her body to stay still in that moment that she had forgotten she was supposed to be following them out the door

“You coming?” Alex asks with a raised brow, while Aaron just stood beside him with a smile on his face, he too seemed to be enjoying how Cassie stared at them.

“Yes. Yes. I’m coming” she replies, trying to hide the blush on her face, what really was happening to her? she continued to wonder as she saunters towards them.

Aaron opens the door for her, and she mutters a quick thank you before walking out, only to be met by a confused looking Brandon who had been outside the door waiting.

“Cas?” Brandon says in surprise

“Hi” she replied quickly looking downwards and everywhere else asides towards him as she didn’t exactly know what to tell him at the moment, not with Alex and Aaron towering over her.

“We’ll leave you two, Aaron declares. Alex follows him, giving Brandon a look that nearly sent chills down his spine.

This was the first time he was seeing the two new bosses up close. When they had come in earlier, there was a brief introduction and that was it. He had heard that Mr. Parks had a scheduled meeting with them and quickly called Cassie, that as far as he knew so far. Now seeing them and alongside Cassie emerge from their office, looking like friends long term acquaintances was something he surely needed an explanation for.

“So?” Brandon started, urging Cassie to start talking

“Well, remember my dad’s new boyfriend?” She asked hm, making sure she dropped the bomb slowly and carefully

“Yes?” Brandon replies, growing impatient

“They’re getting married and those are my step brothers” she said quickly, ignoring the expressions his face had suddenly carried

“What?!” he exclaims

“Yup! Okay bye, talk later! I love you!” she said, blowing him a kiss and walking towards the elevator where Alex and Aaron stood, waiting. Their eyes filled with emotions she could not quite describe? They were probably mad she had taken a bit of their time, so she quickly offers an apology and smiles before entering the elevator
