Chapter 3

Early in the morning Edwin had woken up from his sleep, precisely when he heard the dawn call to prayer echoing from a nearby mosque.

He immediately cleaned himself in the bathroom in the room, then went out afterwards and looked for a prayer rug, which he did not find despite looking in various directions. Even glanced at the bed that there was Melati there, and still fell asleep.

Edwin wanted to leave the place immediately, which felt very sickening to him. A place that makes him seem to be a prisoner because he can't do anything, for the safety of the mother who is at stake.

Edwin opened the door to make sure. I don't know why he thought the guard was gone. There was no way they were going to stay there last night. Ridiculous. Although it turned out that his guess was wrong. The two men who threatened him last night still looked fresh standing while playing the cellphone, when Edwin looked at him with a furious look.

"It's too early for you to leave." One of the two men scanned Edwin's relaxed-looking appearance in the polo shirt he was wearing at the moment, then pulled the corners of his lips. I don't know why Edwin didn't understand, but from the look on his face it was as if they were teasing him and it made him unhappy.

In his company, hundreds of employees even bowed respectfully as he passed by without anyone daring to be impudent. But in this house, as if everything is meaningless. Just because he married Melati, he was like a prisoner trapped in a room where there was a strange woman with him.

And if the woman is still holy, maybe Edwin will accept even though he is forced to because he has said ijab kabul, which means his woman is official and lawful to be his wife. But now, the reality is far inversely proportional. Where he was forced to marry a woman he didn't even know had a fetus growing in her womb.

"Early in the morning you are awake!" Edwin turned to the side where Gunadi was standing there still in his nightwear. The tall man with a thick mustache seemed to be twisting his mustache and looking at him with a strange and difficult to interpret look.

"Isn't my job done, after you locked me up all night here? Then let me go now," he retorted coldly. The longer the vein stiffened staring Gunadi.

Besides, Edwin couldn't have just forgotten what he did to her yesterday. Even Gunadi had punched him in the stomach when he fought.

"Without bringing Melati ?" The man glanced at the open door of the room where his son was still asleep under a blanket whose side looked neat. Gunadi suspects that Edwin did not sleep in the same bed with his daughter last night.

Gunadi's face, which was originally flat, turned cynical as if he wanted to avenge Edwin at that time.

"Bring Melati if you force to go!"

"On what basis should I take your child?" Edwin asked. If he had to duel the man he thought was the champion of the village, then he wouldn't be afraid even if he had to bet his life. It's just that this is not the time, where the mother will definitely be in danger.

Gundy's face turned cold. For some reason it was such a subtle rejection, in which her child was not accepted by the stout man in front of her.

"Isn't she already your wife?!" jolt Gunadi with sharp stare.

"Wife, you say? What kind of wife did you marry me? You obviously know better that the woman is two and of course our marriage is religiously invalid. Why do you insist on having me take her, which I shouldn't be responsible for."

Gunadi raised his head high. The man did not expect that Edwin would dare to speak loudly to him.

A moment later he took a deep breath and softened.

"I don't want to know anything. I married you guys yesterday, so whatever Melati's current state is, now she's your responsibility!" Gunadi was ready to leave when Edwin, who was furious, spoke loudly in his ears.

"How can you treat me like this and hold me accountable, which in fact has nothing to do with you guys. Even I had nothing to do with that haughty girl's pregnancy!!"

"You!!" Gunadi's jaw is hardened.

"Have you forgotten that your mother's life and safety are in the hands of my men!!" Gunadi jerked with the same loud words, making Edwin look furious when his eyes stared at each other.

"Just a weak woman you took prisoner to make me survive in this place. Is that what you mean? Petty man!"

"Whatever you say, I don't care. If you want to get out of here, then take Melati with you, then I'll make sure your mother will be safe there too."

Edwin rubbed his chest because he realized that emotions wouldn't change anything right now.

He trusts his heart. He and his mother will be safe if they obey Gunadi's orders. Once out of the House, Melati will no longer care - the woman is selfless and shameless.

His gaze scanned again, staring at the man who was ready to open his cell phone but Edwin immediately raised his hand.

"Ok, I obey."

"At least wake up your wife and take her to breakfast, after that you can leave my house."

Edwin turned around in annoyance. Twice already he slammed the door of the innocent room just for the sake of venting his irritation.

It is useless to talk to Gunadi, who usually only becomes a threaten and only takes advantage of his mother's weakness, to be able to hold him longer in that place.

"Tell your mother, or whoever your family is, that we will come to your house next week. Remember, after you become part of our family, you are forbidden to hurt Melati no matter what! Remember it well!!" Gunadi exclaimed from behind the wall with a piercing gaze. The two people who had been paying attention, didn't dare to say anything because they knew they were fighting their boss.

Edwin pulled the door handle and opened it quickly. He stared intently at Gunadi who was immediately upside down looking at him with great annoyance.

"No more rejection, or -!" Gunadi's forefinger is right in front of Edwin's face right now. Beckoning with a slashing gesture to his neck.

And at this time Edwin was like a coward, he was helpless in front of Gunadi and his men, who were carrying sharp equipment while smiling sarcastically, and it was difficult for him to interpret.

"I told you, it's not that easy to get out of here." Melati pulled the corner of her lips, turning to Edwin, whose hand was now supporting her head, while the other stroked her bulging belly.

"When did you say that to me, hm?"

"Yesterday. And yes, you may have forgotten," said Melati again casually.

"There was no meaningful talk last night, so don't dream!" snapped Edwin.

He needs an outlet now, though. And it so happened that Melati seemed to be challenging herself at this moment.
