ZAYN'S POV

Ava clutched my shirt with shaking fingers as she watched me with her large dark eyes bouncing between mine.

“What happened?” My hands settled on her shoulders feeling the violent tremors running through her. She tried to speak, tried to take in deep breaths, but couldn't stop the frantic shallow gasps from escaping her.

I looked towards her room, as she also looked back, her pupils blown wide with panic. Her grip clamped down even harder on my chest.

“In my room…” her voice was a breathy whisper that trembled with the force of her terror.

My chest tightened, as an unsettling dread cooked in my belly, “What did you see?” My lips stretched into a thin line.

“I… I…” a sob broke out of her, and her trembling fingers flew to her mouth, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She struggled to get the words out.

“Wait here.” I said, brushing her hands off my clothes gently, stepping cautiously to her room.
