LOGINAron pov
His warm blood runs into our mouth and I can feel the darkness inside us getting a bit satisfied. When the rogue takes his last breath a warmth is spread through our body. That's all we can feel these days, any other feeling we once could feel is long gone, and the darkness has taken over the last piece of us. "Aron! Aron! Wait! You don't have to kill him, let's interrogate him first." My beta shouts through mind link while my wolf drops his hold on the rogue's neck and the lifeless body falls to the ground with a thud. He didn't have any chance once he trespassed onto my pack grounds. None of them do, we always find them, even if we have to hunt them down for days after. My wolf enjoys the hunt, and the further away they try to run the better the chase. "Too late!" I just mind link back while a shiver of pleasure courses through my body, another rogue is eliminated by us. "Why do you always have to rip them apart without giving them a chance to explain, Aron? Can't you for once hold back from killing them?" He barks through mind link when my wolf snaps his head to look at him and gives away a warning growl. Dane knows not to go against my wolf and his prey, last time someone tried, he accidentally killed the guard. I can't blame my wolf for what happened, we were engulfed by the darkness that runs in our veins, and there was no stopping us. They all know not to go in between. "And we have to go back if you are going to make it there in time," my beta Dane says through mind link frustrated. I know he is right, we have been chasing this rogue for too long already. "Alright!" I snarl back through mind link and take a last look at the dead body on the ground, he didn't put up much of a fight. I can feel my wolf's disappointment over it. Turning around, we start to head back to the pack house. I need a shower before we get on the road and head over there. My wolf gets his chance to run his frustration off a bit when he sprints back without the rest being able to catch up with his speed, and we have to wait outside the pack house for the others. "Are the guards informed?" I ask my gamma once we step inside the pack house, and he walks up beside me. "I'll take care of it right away, the car will be ready in a couple of minutes," he says, taking off down the hallway to the right without me answering him. He knows how I want it without me telling him. "I will be ready in a bit," Dane says, and heads over to his room on the second floor while I keep walking to my quarters on the highest floor and head right over to my chambers. I want to get this done fast and be back here in a couple of hours for my night round. Reaching the door to my chambers, I'm quick inside and walk over to the shower, have to get all this blood off me before I get dressed. "Aron, what are you going to do if it doesn't work this time either? You are running out of time, and why don't you take a mate instead of waiting to find your destined one?" Dane says when we are done and have taken a seat in the car. My Gama starts the car, and we pull out on the road while I look at my guards by the tree line going on their regular scout around the pack grounds. "Keep trying! And you know I won't take anyone else than my mate," I state, and see us passing by the borders. "You are twenty four already and haven't found your mate, are you even sure you have one?" Dane says sarcastically to me. All these years since I got my wolf, I have waited for her. The first years I was hopeful to find her, but lately I'm convinced I don't have a mate. I know I have probably enraged the moon goddess to the point where she won't give me one. I don't care if I turned the moon goddess against me, where was she when we needed her? "I probably don't have one," I snap back at him. He is one of those who knows me best and my past, he is also the one closest to me, and he knows when it's best to keep quiet and not push it too far with me before it gets out of hand. "Everyone has a mate, it doesn't matter what you have done or not" Dane says when I feel his eyes on me. That's his belief, and I'm not agreeing with him here. I know the darkness that runs through my veins and what we have done. There is no redemption for parts of it, and I have come to terms with my path. "That's your opinion!" I state when I see the building come into view. Placing my phone in my pocket, I see the entrance when the car turns off the road and heads for the side entrance. I prefer any side door before the main entrance, where there are always a lot of people. "I have the folder here if you have changed your mind and want to see her before," Dane says, holding the folder in his hand. Sitting back in my seat, I take the folder from him and hold it for a bit. I usually don't look at anyone I have tried with before. It doesn't matter how they look or what personality they have as long as they are eighteen or older. That's the only demand I have. They have to be of the right age and come from the line of an Alpha. My pup needs to be strong, and I will never agree to anything else. "I don't care," I say, and place the folder down on the seat between us. How the woman looks or any other information about her isn't necessary for me to know, I only have to fix my part in there. "If this doesn't work, they have signed in for another try once the woman is ready again," Dane says while the car comes to a stop outside the entrance. "Let's hope another try won't be needed," I say, opening the door. Walking out, Dane gets out on the other side while two other guards get out of the car behind and walk over to the entrance. "You know what to do." I mind link Dane before he starts to head over to the entrance, and one of the guards holds the door open for us. "Yes, let's get this done." He mind links back. Walking inside, the guards are right behind us when Bryan, my gamma comes walking up beside us right when we take the corner in a hallway and reach a bigger hall. "I will be outside and waiting in the car, just grabbing me a coffee," he says, and that's always the same with him and his coffee. "Be back in the car in fifteen minutes." I give him the order and continue walking when we turn into the next hallway and head right over to the room. I'm just planning to get this done quick and go back right after. "I will," he says when I see him take off down the hallway before I stop outside the door and hear a woman scream loudly from behind us while I place my hand on the handle. "We will be waiting close by," Dane says when I open the door and get inside the room before closing the door. I toss my jacket on the chair close to the door before I start to unbutton the belt in my pants to get ready.Kaylee pov My body is hot, and it aches in places I didn't think it was possible to ache. It's all too hot under my blanket when I toss it off me before placing my feet on the cold floor. It's still dark outside, and I don't think I've slept much since the last time I was up and thought I saw him standing outside the window on the other side in the dark alley. I had to stay there for a long time, waiting for him to walk out of his hiding, but he didn't, and at one point I had to give up and go to bed. I probably imagined I saw him, that's the only logical reason. Heading over to the bathroom, I do my business and wash up. Looking into the mirror, I see droplets of sweat on my forehead. Washing my face with some water, I try to remember if I had a nightmare, but I can't recall if I did. It would explain why I was this hot, but there are a lot of strange things going on lately. My body aches, and I've got some swelling around my ankles. Looking at my stomach, it looks even bigger
Liz pov Looking around us, I try to trace the scent, but I can't find it again. I turn my head to look at my mate where he stands. "I have to try and find the scent, I need to see who it belongs to," my mate mind links me while I look around us. Try to find the smallest trace but there isn't anything. "I can't sense anything," I mind link him back while taking a soundless step to the side. "I'm afraid I recognized it from somewhere, and if I'm right, then it's nothing good. Head back and make sure everyone is safe," he mind links me. I see him being ready to shift. I'm not going to let him search by himself, I'm going with him. "No, Heidi will handle it. I'm coming with you." I mind link and shift, sniffing in the air. "They had to leave for a bit, both of them," he mind links when I halt in my step. "Leave?? Where? When?" I mind link him while my wolf turns to look at him. This is all new to me, and they left without telling me? "Yes, they needed to meet up with a person
Liz pov Walking out of the building, I'm pissed, or to be fair, I'm beyond pissed. How could she keep this as a secret from me during all years? Doesn't our friendship mean anything to her? I let my wolf take over, she's as furious as I am with the fact Heidi has been hiding this from us for all these years and I know before my wolf even starts to run where she's going. There is only one place that we can release some anger and make it feel a little bit better. Shredding the clothes, I let my wolf shift when she takes off to the shortest way into the woods, just behind the large fabric at the outskirts of the city. Reaching the treeline quickly, I let my wolf run freely and the run doesn't take long. Stopping by the bushes to listen if anyone is near by before walking through them. This dark and hidden spot is the best place Heidi ever could have chosen, but I don't think if she knew I had found this place and what I'm doing here, it would be a positive thing for me. She wou
Heidi povI wish I could tell him, but not today. "I can't reveal it yet, I promise you will know before I'm checking out. Should there be any problem, you can contact that person I gave you the number to. You will have all the information you need." I tell him, and he gives me a nod."I'm honored for you trusting in me, I will do whatever it takes to keep her safe," he says, and I give him a smile. I know he will, there is no doubt. "I have to go for a bit, you need to handle everything tonight." I tell him while he looks intensely at me. "What information is it that you need?" He asks, and I'm surprised he has figured out that's why I have to leave. "I know there is a story behind what has happened to Aron, and I need to find some answers. Both for Kaylee's sake and everyone around her," I explain while he sits calmly in his seat. "I've already taken care of that," he says, and I'm surprised while he simply flashes me a smile. "I knew there was more to his story back there, he
Heidi pov I knew this was going to happen. I have known Liz for so long I knew she was going to react this way. I can understand her, but it's another reason why I haven't told her about it before. I knew none of them were going to see it from my point of view if I didn't tell them the whole truth, and that's something I have to take with me into the grave. I have to keep my daughter safe after I'm gone as well, and her life depends on me hiding the truth from everyone. "This has nothing to do with you, Liz. I trust you with my life and my daughter's. But for everyone's sake I'm forced to keep this to myself. I just want to know you will be there for Kaylee and my daughter once I'm gone?" I tell her, knowing she will have to take her time and calm down before I'm able to speak to her again about this. "If you truly knew me, you would never have to ask me that! I have done nothing to make you feel like you can't trust me," she snaps while I see her arms get coated in fur. I know h
Liz pov Looking at Heidi like she has grown two heads all of a sudden, I don't know where to even start with all the thoughts and emotions I have with this new knowledge. I have known her for years, and not once has she even mentioned a man, let alone a mate on top of it. I can't sort my thoughts, and everything wants to come out at once when I feel my mate trying to contact me through mind link. "Not now, I'm fine." I open the link, telling him it quickly, and shut the link before he even gets a chance to speak. Holding my walls tighter around me, I can't let them fall, or he will feel my emotions, and then he won't give up until he gets the information out of me, and right now I can't let him know. "You have to explain, I don't get it. I've known you for years Heidi and not once have you mentioned a single thing about a mate. " I say, looking at her where she stands by the window. Her posture is cut off, but I see small changes in her face, and I know she is sad about it. Who
Alora povIt takes some time before the phone is answered on the other end, her voice is rushed and hard. "What?" is the only thing the woman says. "Are you Heidi?" I ask her when I hear a loud growl coming from her."Yes, and you are?" She asks when I turn to look at my mate before I'm resting b
Heidi povHolding my phone in my hand while rage is running havoc in my body, they think just because it's the ruthless alpha Aron I will be scared and stay away. They couldn't be more wrong. No one will ever keep me away from doing what's right, and Kaylee tried to run away from him. That's all I
Alora povThe phone call only goes to an answering machine, and I leave her a message that I need her to call me back. Not sure she will do it, but that's all I can do at this point. I place the phone to the side when my mate comes walking back inside my office, and he has the same expression on h
Kaylee pov Waking up, I find myself lying alone in my bed. Looking at the window, I see the sun is already up when I turn to lie on my back. Remembering what happened yesterday, I instantly get a warm feeling through my body. I've never felt anything like it before, and I loved it. There is a li
