23~ A bad joke
The moment Rita’s words left her lips, Chris stiffened and his heart skipped a beat. He was absolutely taken aback by the sudden confession.
This was what he had always wanted.. for Rita to love him back. He stood in place, shocked with widened eyes.
Chris felt his heart pound heavily against his ribcage in excitement.
‘Am I dreaming? Rita just said she loves me. Please don’t wake me up if I’m dreaming.’ Chris thought to himself, he was too stunned to say anything just yet.
In Rita’s eyes Chris’s reaction looked like something else entirely. She thought the feelings were not mutual and Chris was stuck with how to respond to her confession.
