28~ The woman I love
Chris was feeling happy as he ate the food bought by Rita. Feeling warm at the gesture. She may be upset with him but she still cared.
A knock on the door made Chris snap his gaze towards it and nodded his head as an approval for John to enter.
“I came to check if you would like to eat something but I have noticed that the madam also bought you something. It’s fine then,” John said but Chris froze when he heard his words.
‘Also?’
“What do you mean also?” Chris couldn’t help but ask, his stomach twisting as he waited for the response.
“Oh.. Mrs Stevens got me lunch. She said she noticed how I left before lunch and missed going to the company’s cafeteria.”
“Oh, okay. Good to know,” Chris said coldly as he gritted his teeth. He thought Rita had bought him food because she thought about him but it was just a by-the-way gesture.
His mood instantly dropped and he returned to sulking.
