Chapter 2

Author: Noodle Stir-Fry
Everyone was stunned by what Florian said. No one expected my kindness to eventually become the knife that stabbed me in the back.

Jessica was safe now, but instead of being grateful to me, she actually made this outrageous demand. This was no longer just provocation, but blatant humiliation.

Winnie Whitlock, Florian's mother, immediately changed her expression. Even though she had always looked down on me, she actually stood up for me this time.

"Florian, don't go overboard. Being betrothed mates isn't a joking matter. You can't just switch mates whenever you feel like it."

Damon Reed, Florian's father, didn't say anything, but he gave Florian a displeased look.

Florian seemed a little embarrassed by his parents' reproach. He said, "Olivia, I know this isn't right, but you were the one who talked me into it. If you want to be kind, you have to see it through."

The murmurs rose again, getting louder and louder. I heard every single word they said.

Some felt sorry for me. "Oh my God, Olivia is so pitiful."

Others thought I deserved it. "Feel sorry for her? She was the one who insisted on acting so magnanimous. If she can't keep it up, she can't blame others for laughing at her."

Even though I didn't care about what these people said, I still had to keep my emotions in check and pretend I was utterly heartbroken, like I was forcing myself to endure it.

With tears welling in my eyes, I choked out, "Florian, you're right. I made this decision myself, so I must bear the consequences, even though it hurts me deeply."

Jessica was unamused by what I said. "Hey, hey, hey. Who are you trying to fool with those pitiful looks? Florian was the one who talked me down. Why are you shamelessly taking credit for what he did?"

The werewolves who felt sorry for me couldn't take her pushiness anymore. They stepped forward to speak up for me.

"Jessica, watch what you say. Olivia is your savior."

"Without her, you would still be standing on the rooftop, throwing a tantrum."

Jessica seemed to realize what they meant, and her face turned bright red. But she still refused to back down. "What do you guys know? If Florian wasn't willing, it wouldn't matter even if someone tried to talk him into it. He clearly has feelings for me and can't bear to see me hurt."

Her words hinted that there was something more between them, and the way everyone looked at them immediately changed.

That clearly hit a sore spot for Florian, even though Jessica was telling the truth.

"Enough! Jessica, if you want me to fulfill your wish today, then keep your mouth shut! If not, no matter how many times you try to jump off the building, I won't bother with you again."

Florian's words were cold and harsh, and Jessica's eyes instantly turned red. But more than being hurt, she was afraid Florian might really change his mind.

She had no choice but to apologize sweetly, "Florian, I'm sorry. I know I was wrong. Don't be mad. I just love you too much. Since Olivia has agreed, let's not wait anymore. Let's get started."

Florian looked at me again, hesitation in his eyes, as if he wanted to make sure I really was okay with it.

I smiled and nodded. I even thoughtfully walked to a corner farther away so I wouldn't get in their way. But I had just sat down when a servant came running over, stumbling over her words.

"M-Ms. Keyes… Toby…"

Toby Keyes was my brother. The moment I heard something had happened to him, I couldn't sit still anymore.

When I ran over, a crowd had gathered around Toby, who had fallen to the ground. Florian was standing at the front.

Jessica frantically dusted off her dress and shouted, "That little brat actually dared to push me! Florian, you have to teach him a lesson!"

I spread my arms to shield Toby behind me and yelled, "Florian, what are you doing? He's just a kid!"

After my parents passed away, Toby was the only family I had left. He was my only weakness.

Florian knew this well, so in my last life, he used Toby to threaten me. Toby felt guilty, thinking he was my burden. So, to set me free, he secretly took his own life.

Seeing Toby alive and healthy now thrilled me, and tears streamed down my face before I could stop them.

Completely brainwashed by Jessica, Florian insisted on teaching Toby a lesson. He shoved me hard, and I lost my balance, crashing to the ground.

A sharp, unbearable pain shot through my stomach, and I couldn't help screaming. It hit me then that I was already pregnant.

Florian finally came to his senses. As if desperate to make up for what he'd done, he reached out to help me up, but I slapped his hand away.

Noticing I didn't look well, Toby rushed over, concern in his voice. "Olivia, you're so pale. Are you hurt?"

To keep him from worrying, I forced a smile. "I'm fine."

The excruciating pain made it feel like the pup inside me was saying a reluctant goodbye. Even though I was sad, I didn't break down in despair like I had in my last life. I had learned to let go. Leaving an environment without love might be a better choice for the pup.

Meanwhile, after narrowly escaping death, I had just finished the paperwork to transfer to another werewolf pack under my new identity.I quietly listened as Jax told me everything that went down, not feeling any satisfaction at all. If anything, I just felt a little sad. After all that back and forth, they still ended up dying young, just like they had in my last life.Seeing me lower my head without a word, Jax thought I was grieving and thoughtfully handed me a tissue.I didn't take it. Instead, I finally asked the question I'd been wanting to ask all along. "Jax, you were reborn too, weren't you? You weren't at the marking ritual in my last life, and I remember you'd already left for another werewolf pack by then."Jax's expression froze for a moment before he took a deep breath and nodded.I quickly asked, "How did you die?"Although I didn't know why I was given a second chance at life, death was clearly a necessary part of it.Jax stared at me in silence. There were too

Florian quickly regained his composure. He got to his feet and wiped his face. The tear stains remained, but his gaze had already turned cold.He simply refused to believe that I had died so suddenly.Florian ordered his assistant to pull up all the surveillance footage of me, then locked himself in his room and watched it nonstop. Frame after frame flashed by, but the more he watched, the more his heart ached. He saw how I would stand by the door looking dejected for a long time every time he left, only going back to my room after dark.He also saw how, just yesterday, I could only helplessly curl up on the floor while the werewolves Jessica brought beat me up.With every scene, his guilt and heartache grew. After Florian left yesterday, I stayed inside the room. Then Jessica appeared in the surveillance footage. She secretly sneaked in with a group of werewolves and tampered with the door. Before leaving, Jessica also started a fire in the kitchen. She smiled triumphantly as t

Blood dripped from the corner of my mouth, but instead of getting angry, I laughed. "Jessica, if I don't come out, I'm afraid you'll end up having to dissolve your mate bond with Florian."My words hit her like a spark, burning her eyes red."Shut up!" Jessica's chest heaved as her voice turned sharp. "Florian would never be willing to leave me."She glared at me, practically screaming, "I'm the one he loves most. This pup is the best proof."Then, as if suddenly remembering something happy, the anger on Jessica's face vanished, and she let out a soft laugh. "Florian never told you, did he? I deliberately drugged myself that day. He wouldn't touch me at first, but the moment he saw another man holding me, he went crazy."He threw me onto the bed and didn't stop until morning. He kept saying my name over and over, telling me he loved me."She looked as if she were back in that night, unconsciously wrapping her arms around herself with a sweet smile on her lips."After that night,

Florian's expression stiffened as he made his way back to Jessica's side despite himself, still pretending not to care. "Then it's settled."With that, he ran straight to her.Jessica had no idea what we'd talked about. All she knew was that Florian had chosen her again and left me behind. She flashed a victorious smile, as if she were showing off Florian's love for her.It was only after those two disappeared from sight that I dropped my pitiful act."You…" Jax hesitated, unsure how to say what was on his mind. He couldn't understand how I'd suddenly seemed like a completely different person.I explained, "I'm still me. I didn't believe any of his lies. If I left right away, he'd find me again. There's no way he'd let me go so easily. So, we have to wait for an opportunity that will drive him crazy."I went back to our place the next day. Florian seemed pleased that I'd listened to him. He pulled me close and held me like nothing between us had ever gone wrong."I thought you'd

They were both stunned.Worried that I'd get upset again, Jax quickly drove Florian out of the room.Even though Florian looked concerned, he didn't stay any longer. "I'll come see you again once you've calmed down."Florian said he would come back, but I didn't see him for the next few days.Meanwhile, Jax stayed and took great care of me. Whenever it was time to eat, he'd blow on the food to cool it down before gently feeding it to me. He treated me like a pup, which made me feel pretty embarrassed.I wanted to politely refuse, so I reached for the bowl in his hands. "Jax, thank you, but I can eat on my own."But Jax pulled the bowl away. "It's no big deal. You're the patient. You should get some rest."I could only obediently open my mouth and let him finish feeding me.Because I was still weak and couldn't walk, every time I needed to use the bathroom, I had to ask Jax to carry me there. He could carry me effortlessly, yet he walked so slowly. I was starting to wonder if I

Blood was still gushing out of me, and I could only lie helplessly on the ground, unable to move even a finger. Toby was thrown into another corner. He dragged his injured leg behind him, slowly crawling toward me.The pain was quickly draining the life out of me. Just when I felt most helpless, a pair of shoes stopped in front of me. I struggled to look up and saw my old friend, Jax Dunn. I tried to say something, but before I could, I lost consciousness. When I opened my eyes again, I was in the hospital. The excruciating pain was gone. I instinctively reached down and touched my flat stomach. The pup inside me was gone.Even though I knew this would happen, tears still welled up in my eyes.A loud commotion suddenly came from the doorway. Florian shouted, "Why won't you let me in? I'm Olivia's fiance!"Jax blocked his way and refused to move. "Did you think about who she was to you when you stole her healer from her? She almost died because of you! And you still have the nerve
