Chapter 9: Stalking him

When Christian woke up the next day, he was more calm and composed than the previous night but that didn’t mean he was going to let the lady go scot-free.

He immediately got himself ready for the office after which he left his house. As per his custom, his driver drove him to the coffee shop his mother owned, where he usually got coffee every morning before going to the office.

When he however got there, he found someone else already in the shop. This made him frown a bit as he had given strict orders that no one should be allowed in until after he got his coffee in order to avoid dealing with anyone.

In case he didn’t show up by a particular time, the coffee shop was free to open. He looked at his watch and it wasn’t even yet time so why was someone already in it.

Without wasting time, he made his way over to the woman who didn’t know he was there as she had her back turned to him.

As he got closer, he realized that there was something annoyingly familiar about her. His eyes went over to the laptop and he saw that she had typed his name in the search box. So she was really stalking him.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he remarked and she turned to face him. His guess was right, she was the crazy woman from the day before.

Mabel knew she had bad luck but she didn’t think that it would be this bad to run into the same man from the previous night. ‘Are you fucking kidding me?’ she cursed under her breath.

“What are you doing here?” Christian growled in a low voice.

“I came here to get coffee. That’s what you do when you come to a coffee shop,” Mabel answered condescendingly as he had asked her a stupid question.

“But why this coffee shop? How did you even gain entry?” He asked curiously.

“Why are you asking me stupid questions?!” Mabel finally voiced out in irritation.

“Tell me why you’re stalking me?” Christian retorted.

“Why the hell do you keep on saying that? I am not stalking you,” Mabel cried out.

“This coffee shop belongs to my mother, and you’re in it despite the employees knowing that no one is to come inside until after I have my coffee” Christian scoffed.

A look of shock appeared on Mabel’s face as she did a double take. “I most certainly did not know that you are connected to this coffee shop, or else I wouldn’t have come in,” she defended herself.

“Sure, another coincidence,” Christian rolled his eyes. Did she really think he was a fool to believe her?

“Would you like me to hit you there again for you to believe me?” Mabel lifted an eyebrow.

“Would you like another bullet in your arm?” Christian clapped back. “I don’t see the driver to give you his gun this gun. You're cornered,” he pointed out and Mabel cursed inwardly as she also realized that.

“You’re pathetic,” she remarked.

“You reek of desperation, get a job and stop harassing me both here and online,” Christian sneered.

“You know what, I’m done here!” Mabel snapped and she turned to turn off her laptop before placing it in her bag.

“Leaving so soon? The one you’ve been itching to see just arrived,” Christian mocked her.

“You know what, you keep on saying I’m stalking you, but what if you’re the one stalking me?” Mabel turned the table.

“Do you even hear yourself? Me stalk you? You’re not anyone important for me to do that,” Christian chuckled.

“Welcome to my world and what I feel whenever you say I’m stalking you,” Mabel smiled and the smile on Christian’s face fell while his gaze hardened.

“You’re not that important that I’d stalk you, so drop the thought,” she said and stood up to leave.

“Oops, one more thing before I go,” she stopped and dipped her hand in her pocket. “I already ordered the coffee but here’s the money, you can keep the tip.” She then grabbed Christian’s hand and placed the money in it.

With that, she left the coffee shop. Christian squeezed the bill she had put in his hand and he scowled. He had been insulted by this woman in the last few hours more than he had been insulted in his entire life.

The employee came out with the cup of coffee and upon seeing her boss’ son in a foul mood, she stopped and tried to turn back.

“You must really have some nerve going against my order and allowing someone in here before I got my coffee,” Christian growled, stopping the employee in her tracks.

“I’m sorry sir. I followed your orders and sent the woman away but your brother called and ordered me to allow her in. He even th…” the woman paused and she didn’t want to offend Christian by telling him his brother threatened her.

Christian however understood perfectly what she didn’t say and without any more words to the woman, he turned and left.

What game was Dorian playing and how did he know Mabel would come to their coffee shop? He needed to find out.

Dipping his hand in his pocket, he brought out his phone and proceeded to call Dorian. The latter however disconnected his call much to Christian’s displeasure.

‘This bastard!’ Christian muttered as he then proceeded to call Dorian’s assistant.

“Where is your boss?” he inquired after his call was answered.

“He’s having breakfast at your parent’s house,” the assistant answered.

‘Breakfast at my parent’s house it is,’ Christian mumbled as he got into his car.

A pair of eyes watched as Christian drove off and he smiled. ‘Idiot,’ Dorian muttered as he watched Christian’s car go out of sight.

“Continue to keep an eye on her,” Dorian informed the guard he was on a call with before disconnecting the call. ‘Let’s go have breakfast,’ he muttered as he started his car and followed Christian’s car.
