Life was good. Loud music filled the room with bass thumping through the floor. Glowing neon lights painted the club in shades of gold and blue, making people look more like silhouettes than anything. “To the biggest deal of the year!” I said excitedly, raising a cold glass of champagne toward my friends Mason and Blake who were seated across the table. “Hell yes!” Blake grinned, leaning back in the booth. “You’ve officially joined the big leagues.” “Joined?” I smirked. “I own the big leagues now.” Mason laughed. “That’s why we’re here. You’ve earned it, man.” Before I could say anything, the two models who had been lingering near our booth slid in on either side of me. Their sweet and intoxicating perfume filled the air as they wrapped their hands around me. One of them leaned close, her long silky hair brushing my neck. “You don’t mind if we join, do you?” she purred. “Not at all,” I said, smiling. This was the good life. I could have any woman I wanted, including the most beautiful ones. I had a girlfriend but after my ex-wife cheated on me, I had long given up on love. Kylie and I were mostly dating for formality. The other model rested her hand on my thigh, her red colored nails tracing lines over my pants. My heart rate increased as I forgot about everything and let myself experience the high from their touch. One leaned in closer, her lips almost at my ear. “You look so good, Mr. Bennett.” “I know,” I said as I slid an arm around her waist. The one on my right moved even closer, pressing her body against mine. My blood grew hot, rushing to one part of my body. My cock was now hard as a rock. I looked up. Blake caught my eye from across the table and smirked knowingly. Mason just raised his glass and chuckled. One of the models caressed my jaw with her fingertip while the other tilted her head toward me, her highly kissable lips parting slowly. The one on my left giggled, her palm sliding up my chest. I could feel the heat from her body as she pressed her thigh against mine. “Maybe we can celebrate somewhere else,” the one on the right whispered in my ear, her lips brushing close enough to touch it. I smirked. “That’s tempting.” And it was but I had no plans of going anywhere with them. Although I wasn’t in love with my girlfriend, I could never go that far. I liked to enjoy the attention of other women but couldn’t bring myself to cheat. I had some morals, unlike my wicked ex-wife. “Would you like to try our new signature cocktail?” That voice! Slowly, I looked up to see her standing in front of me with a tray of glowing blue drinks. Think of the devil and she appears. She wore a short red dress that clung to every curve of her body. Her luscious breasts and thighs were in full view. I felt disgusted immediately. “How dare you speak to me after what you did, whore?” I asked. Her beautiful doe eyes widened and she took a step back. “I’m sorry, sir. We have never met.” she said as the tray in her hands started shaking. She looked at the shaking glasses in horror. “I have to go.” She turned to walk away and nearly crashed onto the next table. She placed the tray on the table and hurried away in long heels. “Anna?” I called after her but she didn’t stop or make any indication she heard me. I stood up, letting go of the models’ skinny hands. I was no longer horny. I was angry. How dare she show up out of nowhere after everything she did? I stood frozen, my heartbeat hammering in my chest. Mason glanced at me, seeming confused, but I ignored him. My mind was racing. What the hell was Anna doing here? Why was she pretending not to know me? I marched toward the bar and slammed my palm on the counter. “Get me the club manager. Now.” The startled bartender gestured to a short man in a black suit who had been overseeing bottle service. “That’s him.” I walked over. “That woman you just sent to my table. She is wearing a red dress and her name is Anna. Call her back.” “You mean Rina?” he asked with a frown. I narrowed my eyes. She was probably using a fake name. Typical. “Whatever.” “She’s been working here three weeks. Is there any problem, sir? Did she bother you in any way?” “Bring her here now.” He raised a brow before tapping into his earpiece. “Rina, come to the VIP bar. It’s a guest request.” A few minutes later, she returned. I turned around and told the boss to leave us alone. Anna stared at me with her big brown eyes. “Sir?” she asked. “Anna, stop this,” I said. “I know it’s you. What game are you playing?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her voice firmer this time. “It seems you have mistaken me for someone else.” The Anna I knew didn’t lie like this. But then again, I never really knew the real Anna before it was too late. I stepped closer. “Then look me in the eye and tell me you’ve never met me before.” “I’ve never met you before, sir.” She said without hesitation. I was beyond shocked. When did she become this shameless? Before or after cheating on me? “You really wanna do this?” I asked. “Pretend you’re someone else? After everything you did to me?” She looked past me and then bowed her head. “I have other tables to serve. Please excuse me, sir.” And with that, she turned and walked away. My jaw dropped to the floor. I was not expecting the woman who grabbed my legs and begged me not to chase her from my house to act so cold to me. I just stared after her, wondering what game she was playing. And then out of nowhere, a man wearing a white T-shirt and jeans came and wrapped his hands around her. She stopped walking to let him hold her. My fingers balled into fists. Fvck. Was I getting jealous? Over that whore? No freaking way.AnnaI didn’t run for long. Since I wasn’t seeing clearly in the dark, I ended up stumbling over a stone on the side of the road. Thankfully, neither I nor Emmy fell. Fear gripped me as the thudding of the men’s boots against the gravel got closer. Suddenly, headlights flashed ahead. In a desperate attempt, I waved my hand wildly, hoping it would stop. The car slowed down and stopped. The men following us cursed before stopping to analyze the situation. The door opened and a man stepped out. My eyes widened when I recognized the tall man with broad shoulders and dark hair. Before I could say anything, one of the drunk men laughed. “Hey, mind your business,” he said to the man, stepping forward. One of his colleagues lunged forward with raised bottle. Reid caught his wrist midair and twisted it, making the man squirm. I heard a crack and winced, before the body hit the ground. Another man swung wildly at Reid but he missed. Reid ducked before driving his shoulders into the man’s che
AnnaMrs. Peller and her daughter were happier than usual. I knew it was probably because they finally had someone to be their little slave. Every morning began the same way. Before the sun was out, Mrs. Peller was either yelling my name or standing in the doorway informing me about all the work that needed to be done. Sometimes she would just slam the cupboards, set plates with a lot of force and slam doors, forcing everyone to wake up.I would wake up and start by scrubbing grimy floors, then cook breakfast before going to do the laundry. The worst thing about it was that Emmy wasn’t allowed to enjoy the nice meals. I didn’t care about the meals, didn’t need them. I just hated how much I struggled, only for my daughter to eat poorly. They treated my daughter like a street rat instead of a child.“Too much sugar is bad,” his sister would say, pulling fruit from Emmy’s tiny hands.“She doesn’t need meat every day,” Mrs. Peller would add, scooping large pieces into her own bowl while E
Reid Walking to Robert’s house gave me feelings I couldn’t describe. This was where my daughter had been living while I went about my life like she did not exist. It was crazy that Anna had literally been in the same city for years but we never ran into each other. As I got closer, I wondered if things would have been different if she had her memories. Would she have returned to beg me from mercy? Thinking about that annoyed me. Why would I forgive a cheater? Anna didn’t cheat because I didn’t give her what she needed. She did it despite me giving her everything. That was the height of ungratefulness. Pushing aside my fury for the sake of my daughter, I raised my hand and knocked. There was no answer so I knocked again. The door finally opened and a pretty woman stepped out. She had long hair, dyed red. Her eyes roamed over me as she pretended to fix the loose top that fell off her shoulder. She smiled, seemingly satisfied with what she was saying. “Well,” she said, leaning ag
Anna.My head was throbbing when I woke up. Eyes widened when I remembered the familiar white ceiling with light green decorations on the sides. No way, I thought, before quickly sitting up and looking around. The bed creaked as I shifted my weight, realizing I was in Robert’s parent’s house. I glanced at the blue curtains and the old wardrobe in the corner.“Emmy?” I shouted, my voice breaking immediately. “Emmy!”I got my legs off the bed and stood up which made me feel dizzy immediately. When I got no response, my worry increased.“Emmy!” I yelled again, heading to the door. Right when I was about to put my hand on the knob, it opened and Robert’s mother walked in, staring at me like I was a bad of trash. She wore a drab grey dress and had hair wound in a tight ponytail.“Why are you shouting so early in the morning?” she asked. “Get up. We have things to do.”What a nice woman! She didn’t even greet me yet we hadn’t seen each other in over six months.“Where is my daughter?” “Th
Robert.“You’re better than me, man.” Andres said. He was my closest friend so he knew everything about Anna and I. “If that was my wife, I wouldn’t allow her around those sneaky rich bastards.”“I trust Anna. She wouldn’t dare do something to disgrace me.” I said. “Besides we need the money.”“Is it worth it? To lose a woman like Anna because of money? Man, you’re delusional. Anna is very sweet, lovely and innocent. Those men wish they could get hold of a woman like Anna.”“I’m not going to lose her,” I said. Deep down I knew I was just trying to convince myself. Ever since that billionaire showed up, claiming Anna was his ex-wife, I’d started to get worried. The only thing that helped me was that he seemed to hate her. Whatever Anna had done to that man, it wasn’t pretty.“Have you thought of the fact that Reid might be there?”“Yes but he dislikes her.”“What if she regains her memory?”The question stopped me short. I used to worry about it when I first met Anna but she didn’t re
Anna.“Fine, we shall stay.” The words came out when I least expected them. I turned and looked at Robert, wondering if I had imagined them.“Did you say?”“Yes. For now. We’ll leave as soon as Emmy fully recovers.”This was the best thing I’d heard in a while. I rushed over and hugged him tight, feeling the familiar warmth of having someone who cares. Sometimes I thought Robert was a hard man who didn’t care about anyone, but other times he showed me he was the opposite.“Thank you very much, Rob.”“I don’t like it,” he admitted. “But uprooting her right now isn’t fair. Nothing matters to me more than her well-being.” I pulled away and nodded, grateful that he was being very understanding. A few minutes later, I received call from Jacey, a woman who had previously employed me.“Anna?” she said in an urgent manner. “This is Jacey from Ardent Events. We have an opening tonight, a fundraiser. It’s just a one-night gig. Are you available?”She proceeded to tell me how much it would pay
