I don’t know what life is without you, and I don’t care to learn.

Teach me ruin if you must— as long as your hands are the ones ruining me.

EZREAL’S POV

Something fragile and dangerous in its own way.

That was the best way I could describe the feeling that settled in my chest as I watched him. Baron at my counter. Baron in my shirt. Baron trying—and failing—to make breakfast like the world outside these walls didn’t exist.

Like no one wanted him hurt. Like I wasn’t a man who made enemies bleed for breathing wrong. I crossed the kitchen the rest of the way, slow enough not to startle him again, and reached around him to take the bowl from his hands. He shivered slightly, his eyes turning to meet me.

“Here,” I said quietly. “Let me.”

“I was trying to make breakfast but this damn egg has a problem with me.” He said, his eyes returning to the burnt egg in the pan and I laughed and kissed his cheek.

“I wonder how you survived years without knowing how to cook.” I replied and he scoffed.

I don’t want to protect you from the world anymore.I want to own the world so it knows not to breathe wrong in your direction.EZREAL'S POV I met his gaze. Vincent had bled with me. Buried men with me. He knew the weight of what Callum represented—and what it meant that he’d finally stepped out of the shadows.“Prep the route,” I said. “Unmarked. No digital trail. I want ghosts. Make sure there's no surveillance. We need to avoid any civilians or forces there.”“Already thinking the same,” Vincent replied. Then his eyes sharpened. “What about the priest, boss?” That name still did something dangerous to my chest. He had told me he didn't want to be the last to know. But right now, I didn't want him to worry about me. We'll make good on my promise from tomorrow. This was something I wanted to handle alone. He would never let me leave the house without an escort. “I’m going to him now,” I said. “After that—tighten security. Triple rotations. No one inside his wing without your cleara

Give me your worst, your rage, your ruin—I’ll swallow it whole just to prove my loyalty tastes sweeter than forgiveness.EZREAL’S POVFor a moment, I didn’t react. Not because I didn’t hear Vincent, but because some truths land so cleanly they don’t need impact to hurt. “Say that again,” I said quietly.Vincent’s jaw tightened. “Tom escaped. We found the guard unconscious in the east corridor. No alarms triggered. No forced exits. He had help all along, Boss.”Of course he did. How could I be so stupid to not see that it was an inside job? I exhaled slowly and rubbed a hand over my face. “Who?”Vincent hesitated. That was enough to answer my question. “Marcus,” he said finally. “He was scheduled on the inner rotation. He disabled the cameras for forty-seven seconds. Just enough time.”Marcus. Loyal on paper. Quiet. Efficient. I’d promoted him myself two years ago. All along he had been working for the enemy and I had no idea. Fuck. I nodded once, my eyes not leaving Vincent. “Where i

You ask if I could ever walk away. I ask if you could ever cut the stars from the sky and expect the night to remain whole.EZREAL'S POV I thought he'd lunge at me again. But he just laughed and looked at me. “You can't keep me here. Since you've realized that I'm the best assassin money can buy, you should also know that no prison or fortress can hold me. You chose a perfect weakness, Ezreal.”“Take him out, Vincent. And make sure he doesn't escape.” I told him and he nodded. Tom just smiled and turned to Baron.“See ya later, lover boy.” He said as Vincent dragged him out and the door slammed shut.Silence fell. Then Baron broke. His hands grabbed my shirt, fingers shaking, eyes glossy with fear and something deeper—something raw.“You lied to me,” he whispered.I cupped his face immediately. “I protected you.”“You said you trusted me.”“I do,” I said fiercely. “That’s why I kept you alive.”His breath hitched. “I’m your weakness.” He muttered. I pressed my forehead to his. “You

If you told me to burn, I’d ask if you wanted a spark or a wildfire.Just say the word—I’ll reduce myself to ash if it warms your hands.EZREAL’S POVTom didn’t flinch when I spoke. He stared at me with fury in his eyes and I smirked. That was the first thing that confirmed it. I'd had my suspicions and he just proved that what I thought was the truth. There was no way he'd leave here alive. The blade stayed pressed to my throat, steady—no tremor, no hesitation. An amateur shakes when they think they’ve won. A desperate man breathes too loudly.Tom did neither. That meant he was experienced. He knew where to strike and I'd be dead and I knew without a doubt that he would kill me if it came down to that. But something told me that he wouldn't be able to. At least not yet.Because he didn't come here for me. He came here for Baron. But between Lucien and Malrick, I didn't know who he was working with or who his boss had aligned with. Baron’s arm was still locked around my chest, his he

The gods could carve you out of my chest, and still I would crawl across eternity. just to find whatever pieces of you fell from me.EZREAL'S POV I looked at Tom and he gulped. Something didn't sit right with me. There was something wrong with the way he talked. Like all of this was rehearsed. But I kept my cool. “You’re lying,” I said quietly.“I swear I’m not,” Tom pleaded. “At first it was just observation. But now—now Grey thinks he’s found your center.”I leaned in close enough that my voice brushed his ear. “If Baron is touched,” I said, “there won’t be enough of you left to identify.”“I know,” Tom sobbed. “That’s why I’m telling you now. He’s escalating. The warehouse call—it wasn’t about a meeting. It was a signal.”“A signal for what.”Tom’s voice dropped to a whisper. “For phase two.” I stood. The chair scraped loudly as I rose, the sound final.“Keep him alive,” I said toward the door. “But if he lies to me again—”“You won’t need to finish that sentence,” Vincent replie

You think I can leave? No.You branded my existence with your name, and now even death will have to ask you before it takes me.EZREAL’S POVThe room changed. Not loudly. Not all at once. But the air tightened—like a wire pulled too far, too fast.“We traced the location,” Vincent repeated, swallowing. “It wasn’t spoofed. They wanted us to find it.”That was never good news.I slowly stepped away from Baron, even though every instinct in me screamed to keep him pinned to my chest, to shield him with my body. I didn’t look at Vincent yet. I couldn’t—not without hardening first.“Where,” I asked.Vincent glanced at Baron, then back at me. “Twenty minutes out. Warehouse district. Old shipping corridor.”Of course it was.I exhaled through my nose and finally turned fully toward him. “Clear the floor,” I said calmly. “No one comes near this wing. And I want eyes on Celeste. Now.”“Yes, boss.” Vincent didn’t hesitate this time. He shut the door behind him.Silence rushed back in.Baron was
