Sienna's POV

“If it came to that, then I’d have to ask permission properly from security, wouldn’t I?” he said, popping a piece of sandwich into his mouth casually, as though we were having a lighthearted chat, not standing on the fragile edge between the past and wounds that had never fully healed.

I sighed, rolling my eyes. But there was nothing more I could say.

Silently, I studied him. The way he ate, the way he sat as if he owned the place, even the way he gazed out my apart

Sienna's POV "I don't like that feeling."He raised his face and stared into my eyes. There was fear in his gaze that I had not seen so many times."I don't want to lose you."I pressed my bottom lip between my teeth. There was sincerity in his eyes, and it slowly tore down all walls I had built to protect my heart."I don't want to lose you too."Liam smiled gently. There was warmth in his gaze that tightened my chest."Then we'll fix everything."I nodded. The idea that I can fix our relationships seemed realistic to me."Together.""Together."He got up and went to another side of the bed. I observed how he turned off the central light, leaving only the little lamp at the bedside. It immediately became darker in the room. Soft shadows appeared in it.Liam lay down next to me. For several minutes, none of us said anything.I could hear his breathing next to me. This familiar sound brought back the memories that were almost

Sienna's POV I stepped out of the washroom wearing a towel like a kimono wrapped around my body. My hair was still a bit wet, and the nice smell of the scrub I used before stayed softly on my skin.I walked to the bedroom but my feet suddenly froze when I saw something on the bed. The night dress there was pretty neat.I frowned as I looked at it. It was the nightdress I used to put on a lot, one I had not seen in a real long time.I looked at it for a bit until Liam's voice brought me back. "You still look pretty when you wear that"I looked at him. Liam stood close by, all changed and seeming ready to have a shower.I pointed at the nightgown on the bed. "This?"Liam nodded. "Yes."I stayed quiet for a bit. "I didn't put it on in a long while""I know," Liam said with a little grin. "I just thought maybe you can wear it tonight."My eyes went back to t

Sienna's POV Liam entered the bathroom once again, leaving me alone in the living room. I looked at the bouquet of roses that I put on the table just minutes ago.I touched the petal with my fingertips. The evening seemed different but not unpleasant in any way. It was quite the contrary. Liam was the old Liam, the one who paid attention to all those little details that only I seemed to notice, who was aware of the fact that I did not appreciate overly sweet food, and who always knew when I was tired, even when I did not say anything. This time, he even remembered that cake which was my favorite. I took a deep breath. Maybe I have been thinking too much lately. It was about time to stop worrying about what happened and start focusing on what Liam did right now. He was really trying, and I could see this from everything he had been doing lately – starting from the flowers he brought me in the morning, ending with the way he held my hand. Now, he had even pre

Sienna's POV The car finally pulled into the driveway of our house.I opened my eyes slowly as the sound of the engine faded. I had no idea how long ago I fell asleep and it seems like the drive home had taken less time than expected because I was truly tired from that day.I turned my head sideways. Liam seemed to be watching the road ahead of him.We parked right in front of the house. A few seconds later, Liam switched off the engine."We're home."I nodded. "Yeah."I was about to open the door by myself, but Liam was already out of the car. In a second, the door on my side was opened.Liam was standing there with an open hand extended towards me."Be careful."I looked at his hand for a few seconds before I took it. "I can get out by myself.""I know."Liam gave me a slight smile. "But I would like to help you."I didn't say anything. I just let him hold my hand as I got out of the car. And once again, his answer was the

Liam's POV Sienna laughed and shook her head. "I think I will get sick first."We both burst out laughing. But behind my laugh there was much more.I wished. I wished so much that this night would be enough.I wished that the flowers I had given her this morning and tonight would be enough to regain her trust in me. I hope that this dinner will be enough to forget all the fights we had before.I hope that memories of this place will help Sienna realize that I am the one who loved her for decades and not some man who had betrayed her.I watched her face. There was sincerity in her eyes and that was precisely what increased my burden of guilt.I still remembered that day when I had never wanted anything like this to happen.I found myself in a position which I couldn’t explain to Sienna without worsening everything. There was no way that I could lose her. There was no way that after the last six years of struggling with the same

Liam's POV The meal came to its end.I observed Sienna placing the fork on the plate. Her expression seemed much calmer than it had been during the previous few days.Seeing Sienna smile made me feel much better. I was able to make her smile.I sent a discreet signal to the waiter. Soon enough, another waiter approached us bringing a beautifully decorated cake.“I don’t understand,” said Sienna, immediately frowning. “What is all this?”“A surprise,” I answered with a smile.“A surprise?”“Yes, I just wanted to give you something you like.”Sienna looked at the cake from me. “Liam.”She laughed. “It’s a bit too much, isn’t it?”“Why?”“We’re already approaching fifty. You are still preparing surprises as if we were teenagers.”I looked at her smiling face. For some unknown reason, I felt like the tension I had been feeling inside my chest for some time was fading away seeing Sienna laughing.“It’s too much?” I asked.Sie

Sienna's POV I did trust him. Liam had proven again and again that this family was the center of his life. Even when Emily kept pushing in, even when rumors spread, Liam stayed by my side, never wavering.I repeated that sentence in my mind like a mantra, trying to root it deeper. Trust

Sienna's POV There was something in Liam’s voice earlier that felt different. Not something obvious, not like he was lying, but a small pause, as if he were holding something back. His tone had been softer, more careful. Usually, when he was out of town for work, Liam would talk lightly, ev

Sienna's POV After everything was set on the breakfast table, I glanced at the clock and realized Noah must be fully awake by now. There was no way that child would fall back asleep after leaving his room earlier. I walked over to him, sitting on the sofa hugging his stuffed toy, his eyes st

Sienna's POV I followed them to the front door. Liam opened it, holding Noah’s back so the child wouldn’t run out too fast. Before stepping outside, Liam turned slightly.“Sienna, take care of yourself.”I smiled gently. “Always.”The door closed. And the house felt a little
